I have an awesome experience with Express Personnel! The entire staff was very polite, professional and made me feel at ease throughout the whole interview process. I had applied with other agencies before and Express was by far the most professional. They took a lot of time to get to know what I was really looking for. Express found me a great job right away and I am getting hired on next month.
I would recommend anyone to Express!
I recently got layed off at a job I thought I would retire at. I haven't had to look for work for a long time so I didn't know what to expect when I went to Express. I was pleasently surprized. The staff was friendly and proffesional, they really took time to talk to me and figure out exactly what my experience was and what I wanted to do. By the time I left they had even told me about a job they would reccomend me for. That same day they called with an appointment time for an interview. They definately cared about getting me to work and I reccomend them to anyone.
Cons: process can ake a while
I initially talked to Express about a job that I wanted. I signed myself up on their website and specified the job that I had wanted to try for, and 2 days later they called me back telling me visit their office with a resume and two references. I arrived there, believing that they were able to set me up with the job I was looking for, but instead they had pushed me to get on another job with lesser pay and the distance was way more than I was willing to travel. I was somewhat confused at first, but I refused the job in the end which made them irritated. I then asked them about the job I had applied for online, and I was told that they were not available.
Later I kept receiving calls from them, offering me jobs with poor pay and location. At this point I had finally given up and accepted an assignment that paid me less and was twice the distance compared to my previous employer. I'm not happy with my current job and plan to find another as soon as the 3 month commitment is up.
Two days ago, I checked the job listing again and the job I was seeking was reposted, meaning it was still available. Basically they had lied to me. So if you're looking for high quality jobs, you're not going to find it at Express. They will just try to put you into jobs other people don't want.
Pros: You will receive plenty of calls regarding possible assignments
Cons: The assignments they offer you will most likely not meet your expectations
After graduating from college this past June, I thought "Why not work as a temp until I find a firm I would really like to work for!" I contacted the Division St. Express Personnel because it was so close to my home. I was greeted my the receptionist and said she would get a rep to help me. I was put on hold for nearly 15 minutes before someone had help me. I was greeted by a staff member named Stacy. She sounded very unprofessional when picking the phone. She just said hello and can you please hold again. I held on for another 10 minutes. Then she asked me for my work experiences and simply said "Could you fax us your resume and we'll call you." I guess that meant, If we're not too busy and your resume looks good enough, we will call you. I never heard from them. Not even a phone call letting me know that they had indeed receive my faxes. I later called their office 2 weeks later and was transfer to Stacy again and she said "Oh, I'm sorry, I did get your fax but let me try to find where I put it and give you a call back." I didn't get a call back till almost 3 weeks later!! The call was to let me know that my resume looks great and that my work experiences were exceptional with a BA in Business Management/Marketing and they could really use me for many of their accounts. Stacy said she will go ahead and schedule an interview with me. She then said that she couldn't get me in for another 2 weeks. She said that they have been very busy and that she only worked part-time. On interview appointment day, I sat and waited for Stacy for 20 minutes. I could see her at her desk talking on the phone which sounded like a personal phone call while I sat and waited. She was talking to someone about her 2 children it sounded like. I asked the receptionist if there was another rep that could possibly help me and her reply was "You're Stacy's account and she will be right with you when she gets off the phone. I will not work for anyone who thinks that my time is not of importance!
I applied with quite a few temp agencies and Express was the only one that found a job for me right away, in fact the others didn't find work for me until months later. True, none of the jobs I went on were particularly high-paying, but I was happy for the work.
The staff at the Division office are extremely nice. They are all very busy, but they manage to be courteous and professional at all times. It can be intimidating to ask for work, but they are very reassuring and friendly.
Pros: no fees for jobseeker, friendly staff, variety of jobs
Cons: some jobs not in Pdx, won't get rich
