I have been a loyal Les Schwab customer since they opened in Ashland 30 years ago. Not until recently did I have an experience similar to Richard S. After my wife had her tires rotated and balanced, a hubcap was missing. These have two screws that hold them on. The manager at the store came out with an attitude like "what do you want me to do about it?" He questioned whether we bought the rims there since I didn't have the paperwork handy. He was going to order a hubcap and charge me for it. Tony (awesome guy) came out and said he had an extra one at home and brought it by my house 16 miles from town that night. A week later I was back with a flat and Tony came up with another hubcap....mine. It seems a new kid didn't get it back on before my wife's car was pulled off the rack so it was never put back on. Now I have an extra. Since Les died I have seen a real change in the corporate culture of the management at Les Schwab. I think he would turn over in his grave if he knew. I have bought tens of thousands of dollars in tires from this one store and this guy treated me like a dirtbag.

In mid 2005 I took my car in to get the wheels balanced as I was getting a bit of a wobble in one of my wheels. They were very quick to come out and help me but when they went to work on my car they didn't have one of the car lifts available so the guy jacked up my car with 4 floor jacks (didn't seem very safe) but got the tires off and balanced them. While putting the wheels back on he some how managed to ruin a factory Nissan lug nut (car needs to use factory lug nuts for a correct fit) and once he lowered the car to the ground, suddenly I was getting a banging sound on the exhaust which had never happened before. When they put it on a lift to look at what was going on a manager looked at my wheels and suddenly told me that the wheels look dangerous and wouldn't advise traveling any further on them. Came as a shock to me as they told me I need a new set of tires. On my way home one of the wheel weights that had just been put on the "bad wheels" come off and made a loud bang as it hit the wheel well hard. I called the store and told the manager about it. He didn't seem to care at all.

Initially the service was good but slowly turned in to a mess. That was the last time I shopped at that store.

I took my vehicle into Les Schwab when I saw that my tire was very low. Their representative said that I could have a seat in the waiting area while they looked at it. I watched as two young men quickly went about removing my tire, repairing it and putting it back on my vehicle. They also checked the rest of my tire and put air in them. The young man came back in and told me that a screw had been lodged in the tire, that he fixed it and that there would be no charge -- just to come back when I needed tire replacment or service. This all took place in about a 15 minute time period. I was shocked to say the least. I didn't know that customer service like that existed. They have exceptional customer service and I appreciated it. I wil most definitely go back when the time is necessary and will recommend to anyone who will listen.

PROS: Excellent Customer Service

Les Scwab does have the best tire service
anywhere. I had a flat tire and took it
to a garage to repair. They told me it
wasn't repairable and I would have to
buy a new one. I took it to Les Schwab
since it was the original tire and they
replaced it at no cost. How's that for
service?
