I bought two boxes of organic strawberries today, one for myself and one for a friend, at Farmers Market on Rogue River Hwy. One box had moldy strawberries all over the top, and the berries underneith tasted bad. The other box had no mold but the berries were patially rotten and tasted even worse. Needless to say, I will not be sharing them with a friend, and if I should ever shop there again, I'll be very wary of anything marked organic. In fact I'll stick with Gooseberries market where I've had no problems.

This place is great! (Of course I'm biased, I lived there in about 1947 when it was still a private residence and I was 3 years old and my grandparents owned the land when Fruitdale was the only road.)

Just to respond to the out-of-towner's comments about the peanut recall. Look Into This....weary traveler, the Farmer's Market is NOT the Grower's Market, they are not the same thing. Farmer's Market is a original market, it is a local owner, not a collective gathering place, it has been in the Grants Pass location for many Decades, long before farmers had to advertise to come together and sell their produce, it began as a local farm outlet and grew to the health food store and produce market you see today. THEY DO NOT GROW THEIR OWN PRODUCE, they do not say they do, they bring in their product and sometimes, when possible bring in Rogue Valley, fresh produce, so for the out-of-towner to imply that they are misrepresenting all that they sell as local products only, is wrong. Peanuts are not even grown in this area. Any recall would affect any unsuspecting company that purchased a product for sale on the open market, and then that would distribute to retail stores. I have no doubt the big guys received some of the recalled peanuts as well, and had to return them to the distributors. that is why a recall works.
Just to clarify, in case one would have to say it R e a l s l o w 'Farmers Market' was a Place way before the powers that be decided to name the growers market, farmers market. No Misrepresentation Here, have a Nice Trip Home...!!!

I have worked produce for several years now and was really impressed with the knowledge of those who work there. I love to shop at little markets, but can't usually afford them. However, the prices at Farmers were competitive with and at times cheaper than surrounding stores.

Buying fresh produce can be a challenge at your local grocery stores, but at Farmers Market you get a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, many locally grown. They offer a fine selection of organics at a reasonable price. Occasionally the organic is even cheaper then the none organic!

It's nice to see old time produce store. They really care about what they sell. The quality is great. The food always fresh. They also have a full line of health food and vitamins.
