I had a birthday party at Fuji Mountain last year. I rented out their private karaoke room upstairs and the experience was ok. The staff was pretty helpful, and there were a pretty good selection of songs. However, the price was not worth it.

Fuji Mountain has a little bit of everything. You can have a nice dinner there, do karaoke and drink upstairs, or even get delivery while at work. The sushi is solid and the staff is very nice.

this place is truly an amazing place. my sister heard about this restaurant and so we decided to check it out because of the sushi. the sushi is fresh and delicious. i tried other dishes like the chicken teriyaki which wasn't so good. it was ok but the chicken was kind of hard. i would rather eat the sushi. i highly recommend that. the service was good too. everyone was kind and nice. if your a sushi lover, you definitely have to try this place out!

Just ate there about a week ago. Although it was very busy we had great service and the food was great. After we ate we went over to the bar and Nick the bartender made us some great drinks. I would definitely recommend this place to any sushi enthusiasts. Ignore all the bad remarks because to be honest the food here is great. Great atmosphere too, epecially on the second floor. I recommend it!.

we returned from over sea and seemed like flavor just left from this establishment, chilean sea bass we used to enjoy has just became "blah" what has happened to flavor it used to have? Tempura we ordered
was oil soked and dripping. Sushi was average with just fancy decorations and portions were little on small size. It was a disappointment from what it used to be few years ago. I will look for a new sushi place to dine.

Service staff are polite and helpful

Sushi is good, but cannot compare to other Japanese restaurants nearby.

Not really impressed with the other kitchen offerings, so-so mostly.

The waitstaff was very friendly as I entered the restaurant. At first, they told me I had to wait if I wanted a seat in the downstairs dining room which was interestingly spacious, and surprisingly they had an open table in the more secluded second floor. In a rush, my husband and I agreed. The atmosphere of the second floor was very nice.. would recommend to people if they want a date environment. The booths were lovely. So for the food. I enjoyed the maki rolls and tempura dishes, despite the small sushi portions.. which was reasonable because of the reasonable pricing. Overall, I had a great impression of fuji mountain when I went there expecting nothing due to the negative ratings on citysearch. I definitely recommend everyone to check it out before they make judgements based on the ratings of the place.

I read a lot of good reviews-- I was going to go to POD but thought I'd give this place a try. I ate on the bottom floor, didn't see the other two. The atmosphere was Ok-- what I expected.. However, the wood floors made a lot of noise/rumbling when the heavy foot serving staff stomped by our table. We had a fried calamari appetizer-- but it was in their very heavy tempura .. which took away from the very fresh calamari-. We had 2 house salads w/ ginger dressing-- not as good as others I've had. My boyfriend got the tempura seafood combo-- sooo heavy w/ the tempura.. he did not like it, i felt bad for recommending the place. I got two rolls (spicy tuna & dragon roll) & ive definately had better. the prices for the rolls were not too expensive though, but I just wanted some good sushi. For dessert we had the tempura banana w/ green tea ice cream--that was good! although still too heavy w/ the tempura (we ordered a lot of tempura for hating it so much hahA). overall, i would not go back to this place because the food just wasn't that great. service was fine. Mt Fuji in deptford, south jersey remains the best place for sushi ive found so far (my search continues).

As a Fuji Mountain-goer for many years now, I have to say that the service and quality of the food run hot and cold. For awhile, the servers were complete idiots, and half the time I would wonder if the blank stare I got after I ordered was because she didn't understand what I had just said, or she didn't understand the menu. Music was horrible for awhile too. Maybe I just disliked the one server that I tended to get time and time again.

But, generally, the service and food is great. Management has redone the menu recently, and pared down the selection, but it 'usually' comes out in a timely manner, and tastes great! Seafood udon is yummy. Try the sandwhich roll, spicy scallop roll, and the crazy roll. And I love how the sushi chefs greet you when you come in! Very hospitable. Oh and upstairs is open till 1 AM, so when you get hungry and don't want crappy bar food, it's quite convenient.

I will never go there again. The worst thing was that they charged us more, but they also included tip in the bill. This is Illegal and they can be sued for this.

the portions are small. fish not fresh. they also charge for tea! the service can be incredibly slow and the waitresses are hardly apologetic about it. I also hate when one person's food comes 30min before another in the same party. would not recommend it at all!!!

I was at Fuji Mountain last Friday and it was exactly what I needed after a stressful week of work. The service is amazing, especially on the 3rd floor. The bartender Sam offers anything you want, and makes the drinks just strong enough but at the same time delicious. You should try his sake bombs and or this Soju martini mix that is my new go to drink. The sushi was surprisingly some of the best I've had in Philly. I thought I knew all of the best sushi places in Philly, but I had no idea Fuji was right up there with all the other trendy places. It's quality, fresh, sushi with some great specialty rolls. My favorite is the "Washington roll" and I am craving it now just thinking about it. If you want a classy decor, hilarious and friendly bartenders, strong drinks, and a chill spot where you can get ridiculous fresh sushi, Fuji is it.

First off, let me just say that the 2 bartenders, Sam and John, that are usually there Thursday - Saturday are phenomenal. My company goes there for some happy hour sake bombing every now and then for about a year now. We always get excellent service, they serve you up fast and friendly and the drink selection is like you'd find at any high end bar. Plus they're fun to chat with and they make the bar come alive with conversation and fun. The bar upstairs also has a karaoke machine, which is a lot of laughs/fun after a bunch of sake bombs.

Second of all, the sushi is the best I've had in Philadelphia. Mizu sushi and POD sushi are ok, but Fuji Mountain really makes the sushi the way it's supposed to be made. Everything tempura is fantastic here. They have a great selection of maki and nigiri. I particularly like their hamachi rolls.

If you want to eat mouth watering sushi, go here. If you want to have an awesome bar experience, go here. One of my favorite places in Philadelphia and well worth the prices.

Cheers!

I do not usually write reviews, but after going to this place i had too. It is terrible. My fiance and i went there for her 25th birthday and I was not able to eat after 2 hours of sitting there. The place is small and similar to any regular sushi spot. Furthermore, i ordered shrimp dumplings for my appetizer and they were similar to dumplings from any take out crappy spot from the corner. Nothing special. My fiance ordered the Sukiyaki, which was extra Sucky Yucky, and no Suki Suki. I ordered some basic rolls. The waiter brought my fiance's food out first and did not even acknowledge me. After about 20 minutes she gave us some half a$$ apology. She came by later after another 20 minutes and another half a$$ apology. I then told her i do not want the food anymore. This place is terrible and i was not the only one disappointed with their service. There were several customers from upstairs continually coming down with mean faces ready to burst. This place is not worth wasting your time. Do not go there.

Fuji provided my boyfriend I a very pleasant and impecable service to make our first Valentine's together a night to remember. We were 45 minutes late for our reservations due to parking issues but they still held our table and were very helpful explaining certain items on the menu that we weren't sure of and suggesting a delicious new beer for my boyfriend to try. The decor is simply amazing and it's an all around great atmosphere with excellent staff. The rolls were a little smaller then what we are used to, but the prics complimented that...A+++

Fuji Mountain *used* to be spectacular. With fresh fish, creative rolls and generous portions, it was my favorite sushi place in the city. For years, I'd go literally three times a week with friends for dinner and for a snack at 1 a.m. in one of the two upstairs rooms (my boyfriend lived right across the street so we were very frequent customers and knew most of the staff). I watched as management tried to change the look of the space and for quite some time, the food remained the same. But then - suddenly - something changed. All of a sudden, as if the management made a conscious effort to cut costs dramatically, the restaurant started becoming skimpy. Their rolls went from more than a bite-sized to less than half a bite-sized. They fill them with avocado or cucumber in order to get away with only providing a tiny - almost invisible - sliver of fish. I have given them about 15 chances since noticing the substantial change and each time, I am disappointed. What you get for your money now is not at all worth it. This restaurant went from being top notch to subpar very very quickly. It's so sad to me as I have such good memories of what used to be...

Pros: open late

Cons: tiny amounts of fish in their rolls particularly when you order take-out

I had some concerns about long wait times for delivery (sometimes well over an hour), but after discussion with management they seem to be genuine in trying to address the issue. There is no question, however that the food is among the best sushi in the city.

I love this place. Some friends introduced me a few weeks ago and I just went back today. The food was delicious (best roll list anywhere), and the service was perfect. Rarely can I find a place I like this much, and Fuji is my new favorite. Even the manager was extremely helpful in making sure my food came free of sesame seeds... a small favor that most restaurants could care less about.

I strongly recommend this place... try the Eel Meet Salmon roll, it's delicious!! I'm not much of a drinker so I can't really say much about the drinks, but their liquor list at the table seemed fairly extensive. Again, highly recommended!

I go frequently to Fuji and i'm not sure how anyone could possibly complain. The prices are extremely reasonable (especially compared to other local sushi bars) and the freshness is just unmatched. I recently started dining on the 2nd floor and really enjoyed that as well. I like talking to the sushi chefs though, so I prefer sit at the bar.

Either way, if your looking for the best sushi in the city, go to Fuji. Highly recommended.

Got takeout last night and was told that the sushi was average size for philadelphia. The pieces were much smaller than other decent places in the city i.e. Haru and Shiro Hana both of which I would recommend. Also, the fish was not really fresh. They nickle and dime you for everything, charging 50 cents extra when I wanted 2 salads instead of soup or salad. Inside, was nice, but empty. I was lied to over the phone and told that the pieces were average when clearly they are about 1/2 the size of average. Called the manager today who was unhelpful. I will definitely never go back. Also, I THINK THERE ARE ALOT OF FAKE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS PLACE, LIKE THE TWO ABOVE. IF YOU READ THEM, THEY SEEM INSINCERE, LIKE THEY WERE WRITTEN BY THE OWNER OR MANAGER. IVE TALKED TO THE MANAGER, AND HE IS A REAL CREEP.

Just when I thought this place couldn't get any better... it does! Their o-toro is only $5 / piece and it was the freshest piece of o-toro I have ever had. I am a regular at Fuji and I will be coming as long as I live in the city. Last night I went with my friend who is not too crazy about sushi and she still thinks Fuji is one of the greatest places in the city. Make sure you try the Cucumber Zest cocktail!!!! It is wonderful :)

This place had a great atmosphere and the service was fast, pleasant, and polite. Everyone was just so friendly.

The sushi was the best I've had in the city, very fresh ingredients and well put together nicely. If you go try the special roll. The menu had a large selection of entrees and was moderately priced.

The banana tempura desert was absolutely to die for. Highly reccomended.

Incredible food, best sushi in the city I think, but the sake list is even more impressive.

I think I counted close to 20 different sakes on their immediate list, plus a special they were offering off the menu?

Great stuff. Asked for a nigori and they offered THREE TYPES! I'm an avid sushi and sake lover, and to have a restaurant be able to offer three nigori sake's is just incredible. I've been back twice now, and can't wait for the next visit.

Just delicious!

I have been going to Fuji Mountain for about five years now and have never been disappointed. There are plenty of other great things about Fuji Mountain, but for a sushi restaurant, the consistently excellent quality of the fish is the most important. I have been to four or five other sushi places in this city and none of them have held a candle to this restaurant when it comes to the fish. Fuji Restaurant in New Jersey (no relation) is the only Japanese restaurant in the area that I think has superior food. I have never had to wait for a table at Fuji Mountain, and the service (particularly on the first floor) is excellent. The Sake bar on the second floor is a bit more casual ? I recommend the first floor if you are going for dinner. The price is reasonable for what you get. In addition to the sushi, the soups are also excellent!

The hotate (scallops) sushi was awesome, melt in your mouth, tender scallops - I was blown away. I also enjoyed the rolls and found them fresh and well-formed, I thought the size of the sushi was more authentic - you're able to take it in one bite. I ended dinner with a scoop of yummy red bean ice cream. The downstairs eating area is more intimate and suited for small parties, I didn't venture upstairs but I'll take the word of other reviews. Overall I was very happy with the food and service of Fuji Mountain. As a visitor to Philadelphia, it's in the middle of 2 subway stops so a bus or cab may be more convenient, however if you're staying at University City and the weather permits, it's a fair walk but will work up your appetite.

Pros: Great food, cozy & romantic (downstairs), great service

Cons: Parking

I've been going to Fuji Mountain for years now, and I am consistently impressed both with the quality of their sashimi and other foods and the beauty of their presentation (get the spider roll and the rainbow roll!). The sushi chefs are masterful at the display of the food, and the sushi is definitely the best in the city. The sushi rice is seasoned to perfection, and the quality of their fish is completely worth the cost (slightly higher than some other sushi places in the city). The decor changes rather frequently, but the downstairs is always cozy and comfortable, and the waitstaff are very friendly. Upstairs is the sake bar for great late night dining and drinking, and the third floor bar is also a comfortable hideaway. I have booked the private karaoke room for a party, and the service was excellent and the room was perfect for 20-30 people. The restaurant is big enough that I have never had to wait for a table, and it is great for large dinner parties. I'm getting pretty hungry just thinking about it.

Our sushi took a looong time but i didn't mind the wait because at least i knew it was prepared fresh. Our server was native Japanese and more importantly, she was able to answer all of our questions about the food and which sake we might like ("demon slayer"! ). Good food, good music, good service, and demon slayer... worth the wait.

My friend and I went to Fuji last night for my birthday. We decided to sit in the upstairs lounge (which wow, I didn't even know existed till last night) and ended up having a great time. The bartender made us "cocktail omokase" which ive never seen before, but he just called the shots on the drinks and they were outstanding. We both expected a huge bill but it really wasn't bad... a nice surprise in this city.

We didn't get a chance to eat there, but next time for sure. I'll definitely be back.

I've eaten here many times and it just keeps getting better. I recently discovered the upstairs and I like it even more! There is also a karaoke room on the third floor (I think it's the third) It's just such a great change from the over-the-top morimoto and pod, and the sake is so much more affordable than those places. I'll be back for sure!

i am a very picky sushi eater and chef made me very happy when he listened to all the request and made my sushi to order. All the sushi and food were excellent and i was pleased that there are still a restaurant that cared about customers. It's been a while i felt good eating out!

New sushi chef is awesome. I came here for one of the art receptions they have on first Saturdays and I'm there everyday for the $3 martini happy hour (I love you, mangopassiontini!)
If you do lunch do the sushi bar so you can talk to the chefs. The only place to sit for dinner is the fluffy lounge couches, so you can sit back and check out the crazy drinks they mix up at the bar and play the "mango soju" drinking game with the regulars. I live in the neigborhood and never knew this place was here, now I'm there all the time. I was totally impressed when my dad (the most wonder bread guy around) and my fiancees Japanese parents (total sushi snobs) both totally loved this place. Thanks for making me feel so at home, fuji staff! You guys rule!

There are a huge amount of Sushi places in center city these days - Fuji Mountain, however, represents the higher class of sushi dining experiences. This does come at a price. I have not seen customer service drop myself, as some other reviews have stated. However if it has, it really would be a great shame as this establishment has a very nice atmosphere and top-notch sushi.

As I recall, prices would prohibit me from eating here all that often (as I am really quite cheap), however it is in my opinion that this is one of the top sushi places in the city.

I live at NE philadelphia and once again I learned it the hard way, my friend wanted to go to newly opened sushi place in 15th street and once again freshness was the isseue, sushi was not up to level of expectation. Following week we went to our favorite spot "fuji" where we found what we once missed FRESHNESS.

This quiet Japanese place, out of the business hubbub, is done in muted tones and pale blond wood. You can snack on edamame at the sushi bar while contemplating the selection. Start with a pork or chicken katsu, then move on to the sushi.…
