Reviews for Shriners Hospital For Children

Ratings_icons Shriners Hospital For Children is AWESOME

Patricia C.

My son had surgery at the Shriners hospital in Philadelphia a few years ago and continues to receive follow up care. We could go elsewhere since we have decent insurance, but we chose Shriners because of the excellent medical care (that is our first priority - getting the best care for our child) and also for the wonderful, caring environment that my son is treated in.

Ratings_icons Services given without charge

I find the Shriners Hospitals to be one of the most charitable, giving organizations in the world. Wholly funded by donations and the Shriners Endowment fund, they offer their services *without charge*, with no preference to race, sex or country of origin to all children under the age of eighteen. They aren't a burden to our medical system, they don't require anything but a caring, open heart and mind from their patients parents and so it saddens me to hear reviews like Jean gave.

Dear jean,
Do you think that if you paid tens of thousands for your services at a traditional facility, you would have received better care in a more timely manner? If so, then why not do it?

Ratings_icons Shriner's stinks

They didn't keep their word to schedule his surgery in the spring of this year 2009 like they told us last fall. they pushed him to OCTOBER of 2009 and he has suffered in pain in a broken crappy seating system wheelchair and they kept telling me to hold off getting a new seating system because he would need a new seating system to go with his "new much more straighter back". I made my kid suffer through the winter and him crying as he got off the bus cause his back hurt yesterday was the last straw. His file was misplaced and they had to redo the surgery list and my son is at the bottom instead of the top. Shriner's stinks and although they started off to a good start they stink now. My poor son.

Shriners Hospital for Children is a wonderful place because they treat children with orthopedic problems at no charge, or at a reduced rate depending on your income. They do not worry about the $, it's the children that are important. Every one is very nice and attentive.
