Arrogant and negligent
My dogs as well as my sister's have been Dr. Winnie's patients for years, one of them a Newfoundland, had complicated medical problems. Winnie had always handled him with thorough care and concern, diagnosing and treating difficult epilepsy and other conditions. We recommended Greenfield to everyone we knew with pets.
However, in the last year it has become very difficult to get an appt and Dr Winnie has been rushed and short tempered. We had seen other vets bc they couldnt fit us in and we were thinking of switching.
My Newf Boss was having some trouble getting around, was drinking excessively, and urinating in the house so I called and, astonished that I got an appt, took him in that day. When I told the tech that he was drinking a lot, their reply was "well he is a big dog" as though I were an idiot. When I started listing to Winnie the differences in Boss, he snapped at me "why are you here? what is your primary reason for being here?" I said he was having trouble getting around and I thought his meds were messed up. So Winnie drew blood to check his meds and thats all he did. Didnt even take his temp. Although the bloodwork came back normal the next day, he persisted in thinking it was the meds and told me I just had to wait it out.
Boss kept deteriorating, refused to eat or walk. The staff at Greenfield continued to tell us we had to wait till the meds were out of his system. Winnie never returned our numerous phone calls. We had been told by Winnie only to worry if Boss didnt eat for 3 days. When he hadnt eaten for nearly 2 days I called again, the Office manager who is very rude, told us to give him a pepcid. They continued to be exasperated with us and told us not to worry. That evening, Boss's urine was dark so we took him to an ER. By that time, he had a fever, was dehydrated (despite his excessive drinking), anemic, had a UTI, and all his bloodwork was off. He was put on IV fluids, antibiotics, steroids, etc. They suggested the following day that we put him to sleep, we declined and gave him one more shot with a blood transfusion but he passed away the next morning.
Greenfield had him scheduled the following day to come in for observation. Had we waited for them to see him, that would have been 5 days not eating or walking.
Winnie's rushed exams and refusal to listen to me, compromised my dog getting treatment in time. He was nearly 5 years old. He has yet to call with any condolences for the dog he knew from a pup.
Greenfield may be cheap, but the quality of care isnt worth it. We spent $2,000 at the ER and our dog suffered needlessly for days. We were just trying to make him comfortable and wait it out not realizing that he was in serious crisis.

When I took my sick dog here, my first impression was great. The receptionist and technician were very friendly. But when Dr. Winnie came into the room, he made me feel as if I was wasting his time like he had better things to be doing. I was trying to help the technician hold my dog and the doctor practically yelled at me. I was only trying to be helpful. My pet is big and the girl was fairly small- the doctor was not helping her.
I was recommended by a friend a while ago and when I told her about my experience she said preferred the female vet, Dr. Zambon, who no longer works there. My friend said recently they have increased prices and decreased hours. If they are going to do this, the least they can do is have a friendly doctor.

Fabulous Veternary Clinic
They've always been available, even when I've missed appointments because of schedule conflicts.
Plus, the doctor figured out that my one cat had severe chicken allergies. No other vet could answer what was wrong with our cat before...she'd get sores and not feel well, and we didn't know what to do. Finding food without chicken did the trick. She's a happy cat now.
I applaud the Greenfield Vets for their work!

Long-time and happy customer
We've been using Greenfield Vet Hospital since 1995 and have nothing but good things to say about the vets and staff there. Everyone is friendly, no problems getting an appointment scheduled and I never feel rushed when we are with the vet. Two of our dogs have had surgery there and both were successful.
We moved away, but travel from the other end of the city when our dog needs care.

Nightmare vets
I took my cat, Max, to these vets as a new patient. He was not feeling well. They took some tests. Dr. Z talks way too much, too fast, and with no focus at all, and if you try to ask a question, she talks over you. After discussing a thousand treatment options, she eventually said that Max was in complete renal failure with complications, but she refused to give any prognosis. She said she doesnt have a crystal ball. One would think a vet would have some sense of the probable outcome. She didnt. And honestly, there's better ways to tell someone their friend is gravely ill than to bury the truth by blathering jargon. I decided to have Max put to sleep, but I said I wanted to spend some time with him first. At the reception desk, they said, "We'll sedate Max, but you can spend as much time as you want with him and then let us know when you're ready." When they brought Max, one of his eyes was staring, the other was closed. He was limp, unresponsive, and I could barely feel him breathing. I was horrified--when I left him for tests, he wasn't feeling good, but he was certainly conscious. I was crying my eyes out and I told them I didn't want to hold the lifeless body of Max--I had wanted to look in his eyes and feel him purr and have him put his paws around my neck like he always did, one last time. Why would I drive up there to see a comatose body? So I said to put him to sleep right away. The receptionist came in and in a very aggressive way started insisting that I had REQUESTED sedation. That wasn't true. Then the vet came in and said that Max was actually conscious and knew what was going on. That also wasn't true--he never blinked as he laid on the table and three people crowded into the exam room and loudly argued with me. Plus, it's nonsensical to tell me this is fine and you're getting what you want--Max was clearly knocked out. They insisted this is the way it's always done. Also not true. None of my other pets were euthanized that way. I was heartbroken knowing that when I was standing at the receptionist's desk, Max was alert, and then they gave him sedation before I got to see him and we never got to say goodbye. It was unforgivable that they aggressively jumped down my throat for being upset. I was so aghast at what had happened and their attitude that I ran out of the office. When I got home, they called and said, "What do you want done with your cat?" Even though I had already asked them to put Max to sleep. I said again that I was devastated at not having those last moments with him and the tech said, "You could have--he's conscious." So I asked if I could come up to see him, and she put me on hold forever, after which we were disconnected. I called back and she said, "Well, you can come and get him and take him somewhere else, but he may never regain consciousness because his kidneys can't process the anesthetic, but that was your request." So I guess they got my hopes up with another lie. I just said to put him to sleep. I had wanted to hold my precious Max one last time, look in his eyes and tell him that I loved him so much, and then see him die so I knew for sure he didn't need anything more from me. But these incompetent, dishonest people turned his death into a nightmarish wreck and now Ill never feel sure about what ever really happened to him. So dont take your pets to these peopletheyre heartless and incompetent.

THEY BROKE MY HEART
Greenfield Veterinary should not claim to be a "hospital" and I'll tell you why. Dr Winnie performed a minor surgery on my Great Dane who had a growth under the skin of his neck. The next day Czar began throwing up old dark blood. ( goto: www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Intubation ) I rushed Czar back to Dr Winney - in the end my dog bled-out. Had I gone to a qualified emergency care facility Czar might have survived. I blame myself - I should have figured out that they didn't have the tools or talent at Greenfield Veterinary to help Czar. My heart is broken - I loved Czar so much and the loss was horrific.....don't count on this place or this vet with your pets life.

would not recommend
Greenfield Veterinary Hospital has qualified veterinarians, but that's about all they have. When it comes to customer service and care and compassion for your pet, you can forget about it. To anyone that is considering taking your pet there you should know that you are only allotted 15 minutes for your visit, and don't get there five minutes late because they will turn you away. Even if you have come from quite a distance it doesn't make a difference to them. You should not be early for an appointment either because then they make you wait for almost a half hour, which makes no sense because then you are well past the allotted 15 minutes. I apologize if this alarms anyone but I work for an emergency veterinary hospital myself, and we also see appointments, which we NEVER turn away even if they are running a bit late. Because quality care is what people expect for their pets, and that can't be given in 15 minutes. For people that have been taking there pet here for a long time, that doesn't make a difference either because our dog has been a patient here for years and got turned away the first time he arrived late. That is not the way to show compassion for people or the pets they love, and it's certainly no way to do business.

Good vet in Greenfield
Although we've only been going to the Greenfield Veterinary hospital for a short time, we're impressed with the knowledge of the vets there and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The facility is a bit cramped (especially when you're trying to navigate a 70 pound dog through a waiting room full of other excited cats and dogs) but clean and well run. The prices are very reasonable. They're definitely better than our previous vet (VCA Fox Chapel Animal Hospital).
