I can definitely recommend Dr Handke, who was gentle and thorough in his examination of my very sick dog. He was willing to answer questions, had read my dog's chart and was not in a hurry. The techs were also great with my dog, though not so great about returning calls, getting meds ready when given hours advance notice, and at one point, "forgetting" to give me a prescription that very well may have helped my dog if it had been received in a timely way. I can't say anything good about Dr. Winnie.

Our dog went there for a few years just because of the proximity to our home, since she gets car sick. The office staff was hard to work with in getting medication ordered and getting our veterinary records to switch vets. We, many times, had to make requests three times before requests were resolved. The vets and vet staff were adequate. We did not feel like our dog was getting the best care by going there and working with the office staff ended up making the experience not worth it. There are many other vets that are better. We would strongly recommend East End Vet.

My mom and I have used Greenfield Veterinary Hospital for our many cats since I was a child and Dr. Babik was still independently practicing there. We met Dr. Winnie shortly after he started working at GVH when we had to have one of our beloved cats, Fleur, put to sleep, and he was incredibly kind, compassionate, and gentle with both her and my mom, who was devastated by her death.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately during college I had to take two of my cats to another vet in Pittsburgh due to transportation barriers which made getting to Greenfield difficult (can't take a cat on the bus) and had horrible experiences and ended up losing both of them due to that vet's negligence. I quickly returned to GVH and have been taking my two current cats there for years and have had nothing but positive experiences during regular checkups as well as more urgent care/emergency situations. \r\n\r\nWe have seen by both Dr. Winnie and Dr. Orosco (sp?), and I have been treated with nothing but complete respect and the utmost attention with regards to my knowledge of and concerns for both of my animals. When my older cat, Seamus, hid under a chair in the exam room due to anxiety, Dr. Winnie got down on his hands and knees and talked to him for several minutes to coax him out. The staff at GVH are knowledgable and friendly, and clearly have a deep love and commitment to the care of animals and have been in my experiences over the years always willing to go above and beyond to provide excellent care. to both the animals and their owners. I have referred the majority of my close friends with animals to Dr. Winnie, and they have all had the same experiences as I have had with their cats and dogs.

I stumbled upon these reviews recently when I was looking up the number for GVH so I could make an appointment for my cat. Seriously...I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews against GVH on here. I've taken my cat there several times. She saw a different vet each time and every one of them was great. She most recently saw Dr. Winnie, who seems to have a bad rap from what I've read of the reviews on here. I don't understand why because I found him to be very patient, pleasant, knowledgeable, and informative. The vets at GVH were able to diagnose her food allergies, which several vets in the past at other veterinary clinics have missed. The treatments/new diet the vets there have prescribed have completely transformed my cat for the better. Their rates are very reasonable, and all the other staff are very friendly.

i have been a long time client of gvh (over ten years) and this last experience proved to me that loyalty earns you nothing! i will say they did take in my hannibal AFTER i was crying and sobbing on the phone woth them....however....they didnt look at him til the next day anyway. which was fine. i just wanted him there in case something went wrong thru the night. but instead of them offering that i bring him and drop him off as my first option jonathin gave me numbers of other places to take him. which i found out i should have. then after them charging 450 (which i wouldve paid regardless as we are talking about a family pet) i told them trhat i couldnt leave work again and had to keep hannibal there anothet night. after putting me on hold to actually ASK if that was ok - they added insult to injury and charged me another $40! as if my experience with practically having to beg them to look at him they needed that last $40 to top things off. after ten plus years of going there youd think that would help you out. NO money is more important. even after complaining i was not offered any type of resolution shown any interest to keep my business. when i just spent $2000 there in june they loved me. there are other hospitals in town. do not go to these money hungry mongrels

I have been taking my pets to Greenfield Veterinary Hospital for several years now, based upon a recommendation of an animal loving colleague (the proud owner of dogs, cats, birds, fish, and a horse). When I only had cats, I found the veterinary care to be satisfactory. My cats did not have any severe health problems and for yearly checkups and the occasional flea treatment, I had no complaints. However, a few years ago, I rescued a dog. She is an older dog and has multiple health problems. I have been severely dissapointed with the service I have received during the time that we have been treating her for her issues. There have been several instances of poor customer service - one time, we waited for 2.5 hours to be seen. After the dog was diagnosed with a health issue requiring a prescription diet, Dr Winnie disappeared and left me with the vet tech to discuss the course of treatment. The vet tech did not give me the proper instructions and a new set of health problems was created. I have been attempting to order her prescriptions online and the office has been remiss in responding to repeated inquiries to fax the prescription information to the company. As far as Dr Winnie is concerned, I run hot and cold with him. I find the way he speaks to me to be condescending and off putting at times, however, I am consistently pleased with his gentle and caring demeanor toward animals. I find their prices to be reasonable and their hours and location to be convenient. I have continued to go to Greenfield Veterinary Hospital despite being moderately to severely dissatisfied with our most recent visits, but we are ready to take our business elsewhere.

This review is for Greenfield Veterinary Hospital. \n\nI was forced to leave one star. I really give it no star.\n\nThis is the worst ""hospital"" I have ever experienced in my life. I have several pets and have for several years. Not only is the overall place filthy but there is mold on the window sills. Beyond the grossness of the place the staff is completely INCOMPETENT. From the first person you see to the last person you see. I have never met a staff of ""pet"" people who care SO LITTLE!! The pet i am referring to was seen over a long period of time for an injury. With all the lack of professionalism, intelligence and basic human decency this pet suffered for weeks. \n\nFinally, some one who works there with a HINT of compassion suggested the pet be seen somewhere else. Somewhere with better equipment and better doctors. \n\nI can't change what happened to him but if i can keep you from taking your animal you love so much to this place at least that will help heal my hurting.\n\nIf you love your pet like you say you do.....RUN FROM THIS PLACE!!!

The review titled ""I'm sorry"" does not accurately reflect my experience in the ten years I have been taking pets, both cats and dogs, to Greenfield Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Winnie and his colleagues have always been absolutely professional, kind, courteous and generous with their time and have always been more than reasonable any time finances were a concern. I own a pet business, and in my experience, a person's opinion of any one vet often depends on whether or not the patient had a ""happy outcome"", and has nothing to do with the capabilities of the vet, which in Dr. Winnie's case are truly numerous. Personally, I am loyal to Greenfield Veterinary Hospital and it is always the first call I will make when one of my pets is sick.

I am the owner of a 8 month old cat and have been searching for the best place to take my little man. I have heard both good and bad things about Greenfield and decided to look into reviews myself. After seing both Yahudits post (which maybe blown out of proportion or not) I found myself asstonished by the replay of Greenfield Vet Hospital itself. Regardless of what actually happend between the hospital and the client I find this extremely unprofessional for a buisness to belittle someone and speak about the situaiton openly online. If this hospital goes to this exstent I can not conciously bring myself to my pet or my money to an establishment that would bring themselves to this level. Thanks for the warning a head of time.

Since it wouldn't let me directly comment to your post..I'll send this instead!\n\nAs a chair of a university graduate department, I would assume that spell check would be your friend...or maybe proofreading would be a skill you would have acquired over your illustrious career. Be that as it may, you fail to admit that the true issue with the services rendered at Greenfield Vet Hospital was that your inability to pay for those services is where the greatest problem arises. There were two doctors, not just Dr. Winnie, who provided those services to your pet and because of your financial situation, you declined necessary treatment. You harassed the staff, the doctors and even though we made every concession to assist you financially, you berated and belittled everyone who was trying to help your poor dog through his crises. We are not a charitable institution and we discounted your bill in an effort to help your poor dog in response to your claims of destitution...its possible you should seek out the university and complain to the dean of your withering state and demand a raise. However, 5-star pet owners do not publish such jaundiced reviews on the internet in an attempt subjugate a populace against people who were only trying to help you. Or did this in some way justify your bad behavior in our office, the lack of treatment for your poor dog, or the trail of unpaid bills in the veterinary community from other hospitals who have also tried to help you?

Dr. Winnie and his staff are, for lack of a better term, THE ABSOLUTE WORST, LEAST COMPETENT PEOPLE I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS AND I HAVE HAD MANY, MANY ANIMALS OVER 59 YEARS. Dr. Winnie is arrogant, has no empathy for dogs or people(I do not have any idea how he treats cats or other animals). Speakling as a chair of a university graduate department, I wonder what vet school let this one graduate???? If you want your dog to get no treatment or even worse, the wrong treatment and if you want to be overcharged up the wazoo, this is the guy for you. i have absolutely no quams about stating strongly, DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO GREENFIELD VET HOSPITAL. I TOO GAVE ONE STAR IN ORDER TO PUBLISH THIS. IF I COULD, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN -5 STARS.

If you want a real Dr. who cares don't go to Greenfield. I gave them several chances. it seems Dr. Winnie does not even care for dogs. I had just taken a rescue with not much notice. the Dr. rolled his eyes at me several times when I asked very basic questions about how much/what to feed, etc. He could not get out of the room fast enough. Went back the next day for more issues. Dr told me she was fine. Ended up at Point Brezze Vet the following day where they treated her issues(after 2 appts at Greenfield) and spent time with me answering questions. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME,MONEY OR YOUR PET'S HEALTH. only gave a star cause review won't go without a rating

My cat was started behaving differently about a week ago. He was constantly attacking his tail, biting at his paws, and skin was twitching. I took him to my parents vet (up in Slippery Rock), and he said that it was a seizure and prescribed Phenobarbital, even though he never actually had a full blown seizure. My cat was on it for about a week and I decided to get a second opinion. Dr. Ruiz listened to all my concerns and gave my cat a thorough physical examination. She said that his symptoms sounded neurological (something my own research was suggesting) and she gave me a referral. I really appreciated that seemed genuine in her concern, and she was never dismissive. \r\nI read reviews here before going there, and was concerned about some of the negative reviews I saw. I do not have any experience with the other doctor, but the vet tech I dealt with was very nice. To be safe, I would deal with Dr. Ruiz exclusively. She is definitely my cat's vet from now on.

If u love ur animals at all, please do not take them to GVH. I have a lab who is very sick. He had been throwing up and lossing weight. Dr. W. told me that this was all an allergic reaction to an antibiotic he had finished approx. 10 days ago. (funny thing is is that now he takes the same antibiotic almost every day with out any reaction at all). Long story short, dr. W. didn't examine my dog, never did any xrays or lab work either. My dog has lymphoma and he missdiagnosed it as an allergic reaction.

I don't care how close or convient GVH is, I would even take a rat I found crawling out of the sewer there for help!! They almost killed my dog. So PLEASE don't go there. This message will be erased shortly after it's posted, because the staff has erased my other 3 before. But hopefully this will touch at least one person and save at least one dog's life!

I've been in the Pgh area for three years now, and when I got my cats two years ago, I found the GVH. When one of my cats recently had his yearly go at ear problems, I took him in. Dr. Winnie saw me and I didn't even see him for 5 minutes before he proscribed me and shoved me out of the room; talked to me as if I have never had cats before.\n\nWhen I got my puppy, I scheduled with Dr. Ruiz; one of the most pleasant vets I've had the pleasure to experience. She was kind, interacted with myself and my puppy, not to mention that I didn't have to wait excessively long to be seen (A chihuahua with a broken leg had taken precedence).\n\nI would recommend Dr. Ruiz to anyone. My puppy and myself will be going there on Wednesday for a checkup.

Cons: The Secretaries are chatty and gossipy.

I just want to warn people with a weak stomach, do not go to their webpage. Under services they show pictures of the inside of a dog's stomach, I almost got sick.

Dr. Ruiz is great, she really took an interest in the problems my cat was having, listened to all my concerns and offered me several options. Much more than Dr. Winnie ever did. If you go to Greenfield, set your appointment with her!

I don't know where they found this person, but she is terrible at her job. I've been a client there for a long time (since the days of Dr. Babick) and I'm afraid she's running that place into the ground. The vets are good and the technicians are nice, but you can tell that no one tjhere likes the office manager. Dr. Whinnie needs to do himself a favor and let her go NOW. No wonder they can't keep a steady staff there.

Dr. Sean Winnie's practice of stacking appointments has gotten out of hand. As a long-time, faithful customer, I take offense at having to wait sometimes up to an hour after my appointed time to see the vet. Animals in a vet's waiting room are anxious and frightened, especially when there are a number of other animals in the same condition around them. As I understand it, doctors do this to make up for late arrivals and no-shows. Well, I'm tired of suffering for the sins of others. While Dr. Winnie is pandering to this unreliable group of people, he is alienating his stable customer base. And this is not a one-time occurrence. For the past several years this practice has been getting steadily worse. I don't feel I should have to subject my pets to this stress and I also feel my time is just as valuable as the vet staff. In the past, I would have whole-heartedly have recommended Dr. Winnie to other pet owners, but will no longer do so. Today I left after waiting only 25 minutes in the waiting room. While waiting I spoke with another patron who said she had been waiting 15 minutes longer than I. She had a toddler with her who was getting restless and uncontrolable, a whining dog, and had to be at bus stop to pick up another child at a certain time. If you are practicing stacking because of the reason I listed above, than shame on you Dr. Winnie. Get rid of the deadbeats and give your steady, reliable customers better service. My dog has cancer...I would do NE thing for my dog!! I love him more than I would love a human son!!! MY DOG IS MY LIFE...I have been to this vet, and I would not take my dog back there. I wouldn't even take a mouse I found running around my kitchen there...I am not trying to be rude, but that last comment was right. I have written several negative reviews and they have all been tastefull, but removed...If U love your pets find a REAL vet that knows what he or she is doing!!! Thanks for listening. I hope u read this before it gets deleted!

I have an older rescue dog with some health issues and I am always very well treated at the hospital. One time when I brought my dog in the staff was glad to see that it was just a routine visit because they say she's such a good girl and they love her and were worried she was sick. I have never found the hospital or any of the staff to be dirty or smelly, I've never been treated rudely and I was suprised to read these comments from others. Perhaps these folks were the problem because I have never in all my visits experienced any of the problems. This is a five star all the way in my opinion and I am a paying patient, not an employee.

While I was able to get an appointment within 2 days of my phone call, the vet tech I spoke with on the phone was slightly rude when I said I couldn't bring my cat the next day and he made a snide remark. When I went in for the appointment, I checked in with 2-3 employees at the desk. I arrived 20 minutes early and brought all paperwork from previous vets. After at least 3-4 people came in after me and got seen before me, about an hour later, an employee asked if I was waiting to be seen. When I said yes, she asked my name and informed me that no one had checked me in. So I waited another 20 minutes and then got seen. The visit went fine and the doctor seemed competent and nice. However the same vet tech made another snide remark when holding my cat for a shot, he said that someone had cut her toes off (referring to her being declawed) to which I responded I adopted her as a 4 yr old shelter cat and she had already been declawed. Professional staff should keep their opinions to themselves, especially when not knowing the facts. When I checked out, they did apologize and give me a free flea treatment but the bill was $110 for a check up and shots.

I have used GV for years. I put my 19 year old cat down years ago...I was treated with respect, comfort, and good information. When my young daughter's old hamster was dying, Dr Winnie sent her home with in-structions in caring for his last few hours, and sent her a sympathy card after he died! I got on this site to check out a phone number and was SHOCKED to see the negative reviews.......what ugly comments. What do you expect, the Taj Mahal? They are in the business of caring for animals, give me a break. I would recommend GV to everyone and anyone for good care for their animal friends.\r\n\r\n

All of these reviews that have five stars are written by the manager. Do you really think Greenfield Vet is a 5 star vet? Have you been inside? Have you seen or smelled the Dr Winnie's bad hygiene?\n\nConveniently all the bad ratings on the insider pages site have been deleted. Including the review about the secretary doing a necropsy. Also including people's many accounts of terrible customer service, and the doctor's bad advice almost costing their animals' lives.\n\nHow juvenile is it to delete all the bad ratings from your own company's insider page? Does the manager have nothing better to do with her life than rig this page so she can trick more people into using her company, and to hide their business' terrible reputation?\n\nHere's some more quality information:\n1. The doctor doesn't always change gloves in between surgery patients.\n2. He's taken pets' lives during simple surgeries due to his overall negligence.\n3. If you're Jewish and rich, you'll get excellent customer service from him. But if you aren't you will only get rude replies and you will get hurried out of the office after you wait an hour for his time.\n4. Would you really pay to see a vet that has BO? I have given GVH many chances and after my last visit I won't be back. I don't mind if the vet doesn't want to be my best friend, but this guy is actually rude...and in my experience not terribly thorough. We brought my dog in from a shelter and he neglected to examine her ears..we had to bring her back in a few days because she was shaking her head so much...she had infections in both ears. That was just the beginning of a long string of unprofessional visits. My dog is usually a really happy go lucky dog..when we first started going there she didn't mind it at all, now she is terrified of the place. We are looking for a new vet.

Granted this isn't about Dr. Winnie....I had seen Dr. Babik in 2005 with my brand new puppy at the time. I got lectured for getting the breed I got even though I had had the breed before and was aware of the possible genetic problems! He also did not accept my vaccination records from my breeder and gave him ANOTHER set of shots! I didn't know any better at the time...extra shots are NOT good for this breed, especially when the last shots were just a few days old! \n\nThe staff told me they didn't see many of this breed....now I know why! I never went back and seeing all the responses on here I definitely won't be bringing him back even if my dog was dying! I later (few years) wrote them an email and told them why. Still have it...my concerns were totally dismissed. They DO NOT know their stuff nor do they listen or are willing to learn! DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT GO THERE!!! \n\nI went there for convience, but never again! I don't care if I have to drive further or pay more. I love my vet now and so does my dog!

Today I took my dog to the Greenfield Vet Hospital because he was having some back problems, something that he has had before. He is a regular patient of Dr. Winnie, whom we love, but he wasn't in today so we saw their new vet, Dr. Ruiz. She was great! First of all, she was great with our dog. She answered all of our questions and explained so much to us. She asked us all kinds of questions to best understand what was going on. She took the time to not only examine him for what we came in for, but since we were so close to his annual exam, she was kind enough to give him his annual exam and the shots that he needed so we didn't have to come back.\nNot only was Dr. Ruiz great, but the entire staff was friendly and helpful. The assistants/techs, were so kind to our dog! They were compassionate and so helpful...they even cut his nails and cleaned his ears! \nI never feel as though they are trying to get more money out of us than is necessary. Dr. Ruiz suggested that if we needed an xray, to simply wait and get it done at the specialists instead of paying for one here and there...and also so our dog didn't have to go through it twice. \nI am so grateful to have such a great vet hospital so close to home.

This place has a very low standard of care for their patients, inexperienced staff, and an unprofessional doctor who has NO people skills. Dr. Zambon was my shepherd's vet and when she left I was beside myself, but decided to stay UNTIL I was treated like an idiot by Dr. Winnie, you could tell that even the tech in the room couldn't stand to be around him...he also treated her like dirt, yelling at her because she couldn't hold my 115lb dog alone...she was a petite girl, I offered to help and got yelled at as well. He barely even did an exam, just peeked in his ears, teeth, and looked at his skin NEVER even felt his belly, and when he only listened to his heart for about 5 seconds, good thing I'm a nurse and can listen for a heart murmur myself! I had labwork done, and when I hadn't heard anything almost a week later I called and they didn't have the results...made up some lame excuse about there not being enough sample for them to run the tests...They had a full sample that day...my best guess, they lost it and I had to come back for them to do it again. I'll never go back...The doctor never even called to tell me my results, the receptionist said they couldn't find my record and that they'd keep looking. There went my money! I now go to Duncan Manor and have had very good experiences thus far (only been there twice). I ended up repeating labwork there and the doctor called me 2 days later and personally gave me the results, very professional! As for greenfield, if you care about your pets go somewhere else! My best guess is that these recent good reviews were written by an employee or manager (probably a manager, since the employees don't seem to like the doctor either).

I called the Greenfield Veterinary Hospital on the advice of a friend when my cat was very sick and my usual vet was not available. I explained the situation and was able to get an appointment in about two hours. Once there, my cat was seen right away-something I am not used to at my old vet. It didn't take any time at all for the doctor to come in and examine my cat. He explained things very thoroughly and did not do any unecessary procedures-again, which is something I am not used to. The total visit did not take very long andmy cat was feeling better the very next day. Overall, I was very impressed with Dr. Winnie and the office. He was genuinely concerned about the animals welfare and making sure their owners were reassured and had every bit of necessary information. I am definitely taking my cats to Dr. Winnie in the future. No question.

I've always been satisfied with the care my two cats have received at Greenfield Veterinary Hospital. My cats have been treated by both Dr. Winnie and Dr. Zambon and I've never had reason to doubt their professionalism and expertise. I am especially grateful to Dr. Winnie for diagnosing and helping to control a chronic condition one of my cats had when he was adopted. I appreciate his approach of starting out with the least invasive (and least expensive) treatments first before recommending more aggressive action when it was clear the first alternatives were not working. I never felt pressure to spend money I wasn't comfortable spending and never felt as though Dr. Winnie was trying to back me into a corner by forcing me to choose between expensive medical procedures and a lifetime of suffering for my cat. He will work with you to figure out a solution that helps your pet that is still within your financial means. As a result of his care, my formerly sickly cat who refused to be petted or played with is now a very loving lap cat who loves to chase a toy around our home. It wasn't a quick fix but Dr. Winnie was always honest and straightforward with me about every step of the process. I've recommended Greenfield Vet's services to friends and I have always gotten positive feedback from them. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I take my beloved pet to GVH when ever he needs something. Dr. Winnie is always there to help and so is the caring staff that work there. Now I will be the frist to agree with all of you. Dr. Winnie is a caring, vet that can do his job right. Now that's with out saying his fault. Everyone has them. Have you ever had a bad day? Have you ever worked with animals who would like do nothing more then rip your head off all day? What people don't remember is that he is trained in how to handle pets. He knows what they can take and what they can't. But all people think about is OMG he's going to hurt them! I know how this is. My baby Moe screams and crys when i cut his nails. I'm I hurting him? No he just wants to be a big baby. If you don't trust him with your pet then you have never been to a really bad vet. When I liveed in Maryland I took my pet to an emergency clinc. After spending some time there with my pet that needed attention all the time I say how evil this hospital was. I saw one women bring her cat in that had been stricken by a car. She begged for someone to please save her friend. They took the cat into the back. I spoke with her while she was waiting, trying to help her get threw what was happening. I knew the cat was already gone when she walked in the door. The doctor came up to her and said there was nothing we can do so we put him to sleep. After she cried for her pet she went to the counter and the women behind the desk told her that she would have to pay for her cat being put to sleep. She look at her and said that she never agreed to that. And all that women said was that the doctor didn't think he could help her cat so he just put it right to sleep. He didn't even try. He just got the pink shot and that was it. If you go to GVH they will fight to save your animal. They won't stop untill there is nothing else they can do. So it's your choice. Some one who can't control his mood but will help your pet or someone who only pretends to care?

Some one who can't control his mood but will help your pet or someone who only pretends to care?

Pros: Great office staff that helps in any way they can

Cons: A moody doctor that can't contorl his temper sometimes

Dr. Zambon WAS the best but she's gone, and so's my business. The head practitioner -- I won't call him a doctor because I think some sense of honor and commitment attach to that title -- at this clinic is the most ungracious, unkind, condescending, contemptuous person I have ever spoken with. Simply insufferable. Not to mention that he couldn't be bothered to know that my animal had ongoing problems following release from the hospital. \r\n\r\nThe worst of the worst. Unprofessional in the extreme. Wouldn't even look at me when talking with me. \r\n\r\nThe vet techs are nice and caring so I don't want to tar them with the same brush. I hope they get good jobs at a better clinic with a better vet.

I took my dog to see Dr. Zambon on the recommendations of 3 separate people. They all said she was an excellent doctor, so I went to see her. And boy were they right. She was so good with my dog, and she was very patient with me. My dog was 10 at the time, and she had alot of chronic problems. And Dr. Zambon helped us with every single one of them. She made my dog look, feel, and act better than she had in a long time. I only wish she was still there to help us!\r\n

I have been going to Dr. Winnies office for a while and I know all the staff well but after what I overheard I'm going to think long and hard about going elsewhere. The other day I went in to pick up some medication and no one was at the desk, I knew someone would be out soon so I decided not bother anyone so I just waited a few minutes. What I heard made me almost sick. I hate to get anyone in trouble but I think people should know what is going on there and if I decide to bring my pets back, I will be asking the doctors about this. I heard Susie the girl who works the counter talking about how she was was allowed to ""cut the cat open"", how ""cool"" it was and that her thumbs left an indention in the body and I heard her say that they know the cat had kidney problems and that was what it dies from. I heard another voice ask if that was what Dr. Winnie agreed with and she said no, ""he was not even there."" Again, forgive me for trying to get others in trouble but I would think that a doctor should be the one to try to understand why an animal died, not a girl who answers the phones. Does professionalism and sensitivity mean anything there?

I am so surprised to read the reviews below. Both Dr. Winnie and Dr. Zambon have been nothing but thorough and absolutely sweet to my cats. I can usually get an appointment without a long wait, and their prices are fair.

I started going here on a recommendation, and I have continued to recommend them to other people. No one I know has had a problem.

I do not want to discount peoples opinions or experiences, however as a former veterinary technician and avid animal mother, I must say that my experiences at Greenfield Veterinary Hospital is by far the best the burgh has to offer. Although I just recently lost my beloved boy, Dr. Winnie and his staff treated me, and all my babies with the utmost professionalism and respect. I know they have had staffing issues, but I have never felt slighted in the least. Dr. Winnie, as well as the staff at GVC have taken care of my special needs boy and has guided me every step of the way in his treatment and care. Where other vets would have given up on my dog and just pumped him full of medications, Dr. Winnie did his homework and pulled his expertise to try and make my dogs quality of life the best that it was for the time I had him. I am forever grateful to him!!!

I recently moved to Pittsburgh from Richmond, Va and when my beloved cat suddenly took ill, Dr. Winnie and the staff at Greenfield jumped to my aid. I understand that due to a recent loss of the second doctor, the clinic hours had to be cut and availability is limited, but when I needed them they were there. They took him in, did emergency surgery, hospitalized him and now he is home back to his normal self. Without Dr. Winnie and the caring staff at Greenfield Veterinary Hospital I know my boy wouldn't be alive today. Waiting for Dr. Winnie and the care he provides is worth it.

During a 15 minute period Dr. Winnie managed to ensure I will never return to Greenfield Vet Hospital. I arrived for my appointment and was immediately checked in by a very friendly receptionist. A few minutes later a very sweet nurse came out to let me know that the doctor was caring for a very sick animal at the moment, but that he would be with me shortly. She even offered to get me and my pet water. Since my pet was there simply for a check up and some shots I of course didn't mind waiting. But to make s long story short i eventually went back to see the doctor. He eventually came into the room in a huff. I have a very large dog who is very strong. Had Dr Winnie bothered to look at the chart before coming into the room he would have known the size of my dog. He was obviously gonna need help restraining my pet. Instead of politely excusing himeself he threw the door open and yelled in an agitated tone, "" Can I get some help in here!?"" Not sure why he yelled because when he opened the door a could see a nurse waiting immediately outside the door. She rushed right in. The rudeness continued from there. I tried to ask him a question about my dog's ear. He interrupted me and said very rudely, "" Mind if i finish what i'm doing first?"" He listened to my dog's heart for about a fraction of a second. Then it was time for shots. The nurse had my dog held very still. One shot in and no problem. But instead of Dr. Winnie walking 3 steps to give my dog his second shot in his other shoulder, he made the nurse turn my entire 100 lb dog 180 degrees. Then talked her like she was a child because the dog was moving. Not only did my dog not receive a thorough exam, but Dr. Winnie was rude to me and his employees. If he treats his employess this way in front of me, I can't imagine how he treats them when clients arent in the room. I will never be back and the Dr. Winnie's rude and condescending attitude is the reason!

When I took my sick dog here, my first impression was great. The receptionist and technician were very friendly. But when Dr. Winnie came into the room, he made me feel as if I was wasting his time like he had better things to be doing. I was trying to help the technician hold my dog and the doctor practically yelled at me. I was only trying to be helpful. My pet is big and the girl was fairly small- the doctor was not helping her. \r\nI was recommended by a friend a while ago and when I told her about my experience she said preferred the female vet, Dr. Zambon, who no longer works there. My friend said recently they have increased prices and decreased hours. If they are going to do this, the least they can do is have a friendly doctor.

They've always been available, even when I've missed appointments because of schedule conflicts.

Plus, the doctor figured out that my one cat had severe chicken allergies. No other vet could answer what was wrong with our cat before...she'd get sores and not feel well, and we didn't know what to do. Finding food without chicken did the trick. She's a happy cat now.

I applaud the Greenfield Vets for their work!

Greenfield Vets is the most compassionate place I've ever been to; Dr. Zambon is wonderful. I truly owe my dog's life to her, and her alone, and am SO thankful. She treated him for his illness when NO other vets would. His life was hanging on the line when I came to her as a new patient, upon recommendation of a friend who is also a client. She truly committed herself to his health, and it was obvious she TRULY cared; this was NOT just a job to her. The story has a happy ending, as my big furry family member recovered and survived. And I owe it all to her. \r\n\r\nI have read a couple other reviews that were negative, and I can honestly say that the people who wrote them MUST be crazy.....the descriptions of treatment and communication in those negative reviews are COMPLETELY out of character for Greenfield Vets and/or Dr. Zambon. \r\n\r\nGo to Greenfield Vets, and I promise you will not be disappointed. My once dying dog who now has a zest for life once again, is living proof!

Pros: compassionate, takes time to listen, reasonably priced

Cons: office is fairly small, but the quality of care inside it makes up for it!

When our four-year-old Springer Spaniel developed cancer our family was heartbroken. We decided to try chemo because she was so young. Although Dr. Winnie did not perform her treatments he still saw her regularly on her off weeks. Throughout this tough time, Dr. Winnie could not have been more caring and gentle. Although our dog passed away, it was in no way due to the care that she received. Our dog loved Dr Winnie and so do we.

We've been using Greenfield Vet Hospital since 1995 and have nothing but good things to say about the vets and staff there. Everyone is friendly, no problems getting an appointment scheduled and I never feel rushed when we are with the vet. Two of our dogs have had surgery there and both were successful.

We moved away, but travel from the other end of the city when our dog needs care.

I can't say enough about how special Dr. Winnie and his staff truly are. They have treated both of my girls for almost 6 years. They have diagnosed ailments and provided successful for those ailments that other vetrinarians just ignored or wrote off. They have gone above and beyond what I expected in emergency situations. \r\n\r\nWe recently lost one of our girls to cancer. Dr. Winnie was wonderful about referals to surgeons, treatment options, answering my never ending quetions, and just calling to ask how we were doing during this difficult time. We wouldn't have gotten through this without the staff of Greenfield Vet Hospital. \r\nIt would have taken a miracle to save our girl but we got the next best thing from the treatment we received here. They saw to it that her comfort and quality of life were extended for as long as possible. \r\n\r\nAfter visiting with countless vetrinarians over the years I know that Greenfield Hospital is the one that we will be using for the foreseeable future. \r\n

My Black Lab mix has been under the care of Dr. Winnie since May 2007. He has always treated my dog with skill, kindness, and compassion. In fact, if it wasn't for Dr. Winnie having diagnosed the allergies that other vets had missed for years, my dog would likely be living his life in pain. I think that Dr. Winnie is easy to talk to and answers questions well, and the staff at the hospital are always friendly to me and handle my dog gently but expertly.
