Bear Swamp Diner

My family travels to Macungie every year for a big car in August. We are usually there from Thurs. through Sun. and start each morning at the Bear Swamp. They have great food and it is very affordable. They are quick to get your food to you too. The staff are very friendly, and we see the same staff from year to year. So you know can tell that they must treat their staff as good as they treat their customers.

This diner has a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch style cooking with great prices. The parking lot is always crowded though and the service is quick, but with so many customers it can get a little slow service.

Diner food.this place is great. Complete comfort food from the pot pie, to the patty melt. Breakfast..oh so good. I love coming here for breakfast and getting my traditional eggs benedict...YUM...service is great too!

Pennsylvania Dutch pot pie, not that fake stuff with a crust on top of it. Creamy gravy/broth, big chunks of vegetables, flavorful chicken, and thick hand-cut egg noodles that resist just a little bit to the tooth, then melt in your mouth. My grandmother, rest her soul, couldn't do much better. A little better, but not much.

Bear Swamp Diner is a pretty classic diner for the area - good service, good diner food, decent prices. It's clean and bright. For all that, it would be worth four stars at least. But the quality of the PA Dutch specialties is what puts it over the edge. As I recall, the pot pie is served on Tuesdays (though I could be mistaken about that.) Seek it out. Your taste buds will thank you.
