From all the rave reviews I had expected so much more but was very disappointed. The Coconut Soup was bland. The Pad Thai was tasteless, mushy and contained chicken that was dry and overcooked - as if the whole dish had been sitting around

I ate Thai food for the first time September 19,2011. I have to admit I def enjoyed it. My only issue would be the quality of service. The servers SUCKED. The food made up for it though. I will go back but will pay little to no attention

Oh my goodness!!!! I just had the worst experience at lemon grass tonight...7/25/10. Typically, I love eating at this restaurant. The food was very good to me and because of that I referred many people there. But tonight, I was eating my drunken noodles w/tofu and out of nowhere I saw two roaches crawling on the table. At first I thought , "whats that " , when I saw the little one but then a big one started crawling up the little vase with the flowers in it. I told the waittress and she said, "oh sorry", but still charged me for my appetizer that I had. I paid for it because I was tired, had a long day at work, and would have felt bad because I usually have a good experience there but I shouldn't have paid anything. I use to frequent there often and the rude waittress doesn't bother me, I actually find her entertaining but I won't be going back. I NEVER write reviews but that was ridiculous and just disgusting. Ugh, I feel sick thinking about it....I should just go and throw up now.

Pros: use to think they had the best food

Cons: roaches crawling on your table while your eating

Food was better the first time I was there, after a couple of years later, second time was not that great.

This one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Philadelphia. The restaurant has great ambiance and decorated well with Thai art. The food is delicious especially the Red Curry.

I have been coming here for years. One time I left because i couldn't take the bad service anymore. But I grew thick skin ended up back there because I think they have the best thai in the area. Street parking is relatively easy. There is one particular waitress there who is the worst and sadly, she never takes the day off. She must be related to the owner or something. Don't come unless you don't mind mediocre to poor service but good thai. Kinda reminds me of the "soup naz!" on Seinfeld.

p.s. love their mango sticky rice!

Cons: poor service

I lived around the corner from this place and absolutely love their food! It is perfect for an inexpensive but really great lunch or dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is generally very quick. I would recommend the Pad Thai with veggies and tofu :)

Lemongrass serves some nice dishes: soups were excellent, "Jack and Su" was alright, very fresh and with tasty flavors, but oddly pasty in texture, and covered in far too much spinach. My boyfriend reports that the "Drowned Noodles" (a chicken noodle dish) are nice but a bit heavy, and my mother thoroughly enjoyed the "Vegetarian Lover". I'm vegetarian, and there were more vegetarian options than I've seen at some other Thai restaurants, but there wasn't much variety among those options. Decor is tasteful and prices are fine.

However, the service was the worst I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Even the waitress's first words were rude -- "order now; we're closing", even though it was 40 minutes before closing time. She rushed us into ordering before we were ready, literally standing at the table and asking repeatedly whether we were ready from the moment we sat down until we gave up trying to make well-thought out selections and ordered (about 3 minutes after walking in), and she ran off before we could even order drinks. She spilled water on my mother and didn't apologize or offer help with cleaning it up, acted extremely irritated when we asked for water refills and takeout boxes, and just acted generally surly and rude. I would never go back -- I don't want to buy dinner from someone who seems dedicated to making me feel miserable. Dining out is supposed to be fun and relaxing, and the food just wasn't good enough to make me willing to put up with that kind of attitude.

Had been there for lunch this afternoon, 1 waitress taking care of the whole restaurant. My friend and I knew what we wanted so we told her we were redy to order, she said she be back and never come back for 30 mins. Finally she appeared we placed our orders, a whole new story entree comes before the soup nd appetizer.. eehh .tht was strange we told her v haven?t had the soup nd appetizer she goes in to chk and returns in 15 mins by then v had already given up and started with the entree , she takes the entree back and leaves the soup nd appetizer.. all in all disgusting service,, food isn?t that great either ..

For people who live around that area go to Flavours in Devon for Thai food, you will simply love the food and the service and its just 5 miles from king of prussia.

its a hopeless place.I love the food, but the service sucks.I went once there the table was dirty i asked the waitress to clean instead she pushed the mat in a weird orientation on the table.
I asked her to get water without ice, she intentional spills water on my dish.
I asked her for an extra plate and she says u already have one , why do you need other one.
Even my friends have to face such things..

Great food in a great neighborhood! Try the mango sticky rice, and Mussaman Curry (either veg or with meat). The Pad Thai is great too. Salads are good, and they serve beer. Nice quiet and cosy atmosphere.

For all those out there who dine @ this W.Philly restaurant, it is best to double check your bill before handing over your credit card or cash. On more than one occasion I have been with parties of +5 and every time we have been over charged on the "tip". While the menu clearly states PARTY OF 5 OR MORE will have an automatic 18% gratuity added, the wait staff tends to increase the % to between 19-20%. Not that this is a really big deal, but its the principle. I usually tip @ least 20%, so its not a big deal but when this "error" was brought to the staff's attention, they made a big fuss about it. The first time, I thought it was a calculation error, but if it happens the 2nd & 3rd time, then its a scam. Go in parties of 5 or less to avoid being a possible VICTIM, of if you must, break it down to parties of 2 and 3, or 4 and 1, or 5 single tables of one :) Bon Apetite!

This the best Thai food I've ever heard, can be very spicy and inexpensive... my two favorite things! The lunch is prefixed and quick. I recommend making a reservation during lunch because it gets crowded. I've been going here for 4 years and I have never had a bad experience. Highly recommeded for a good thai cuisine

I honestly haven't dined at a substantial number of Thai restaurants, but I really enjoy eating here and have not had a bad experience yet. One of my favorites is the drunken noodles. Reasonable prices and tasty entrees-- you really can't go wrong. Also I recommend the fixed price lunches, a great deal.

Pros: Great entrees, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere for west philadelphia

Cons: Not much in terms of dessert or drink specials.

The waitresses are horrible there. Very unfriendly. They made a mistake and served me a wrong dessert. When I asked them to chenge it, a waitress actually said "SH@T!". I was pretty shocked. Dining out needs to be fun and pleasant. I will never go back. The worst experience ever! Besides, the food is not THAT good there.

Hands down, Lemon Grass Thai is the best all-around in University City. If you want delicious, well-priced food with amazing service in a beautiful restaurant, look no further! My friends and I go at least twice a month, if not more.

Lemon Grass' $8.99 lunch makes me happy. As part of this lunch, you get an appetizer, a soup and an entree. Tulip Dumplings, Lemon Grass Soup and Thai Basil Chicken for me. Ahhh...just thinking of it is making my mouth water. This food is SUPERB, the dining area is beautiful and there is not enough I can say about this wonderful restaturant come for lunch or for the dinner...just come. If you love Thai Foods, you'll love this place. If not, try it...you'll still love it!

Honestly, I wasn't THAT impressed. I love Thai food, and I didn't think this food was that authentic. The prices are great though.

As a daughter of an owner of various Thai restaurants in Washington DC, I have acquired high standards for Thai restaurants. My boyfriend and I dined at Lemon Grass Thai Restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is located on a quiet corner of Lancaster Ave. Parking may be a problem for most. We were seated promptly, and our waitress(es) was very attentive and cordial. Lunch is an absolute bargain. Your choice of an appetizer, soup and entree from an extensive menu for only $8.95 per person! We had tulip dumplings, corn cakes, two lemon grass soups, Royal Noodles and Basil Tofu. Portions were small to moderate but it's lunch! The food came out very quickly (due to the fact we came before lunch closure). My boyfriend was very pleased and we will be coming back. It is one of the better Thai restaurants in Philadelphia.

When friends took me here I was skeptical but I became a big fan! The soups are delish as are the curries and noodle dishes (that spicy basil one is yum!) I must say it's probably not as authentic as the thai temple in Los Angeles but it's the best in Philly and has incredible fresh mango and sticky rice (when it's in season) that you just shouldn't miss!
