When I was a young lad of 13, I remember my dad taking me to a small store on the corner of Hollidaysburg Plaza, called Gatehouse Games. I met Tim, the owner and bought a pack of Pokemon cards, as I was obsessed with them at the time. Since that day, I have been going there for a number of reasons and games, sometimes even just to stop in and soak up the atmosphere and hang out. Now the store has moved to a new location (a much larger one in the same plaza), and has grown immensely since its founding 13 years ago. It is the only place in the area that I have found that sells miniatures of all varieties, even harder to find ones such as Mordheim, Battlefleet Gothic, and Bloodbowl. They even sometimes have things in stock that are out of print, that even Ebay cant find you!
I remember when I first needed to learn how to paint my miniatures, I was lost to all of the tricks of the craft, and learned a small bit at home on my own, but my minis always came out looking awful. The owner actually sat me down over a period of days, and taught me how to paint my miniatures, and ever since I have immensely improved. Using his constant tips and help, I have managed to surpass some who have been painting much longer than I have. I now use my miniatures to play in a Mordheim league on Wednesdays, and I am progressively getting closer to a Warhammer army with the store's immense selection and help. If there is anything I need that they don't have in stock, I can always have it ordered (free of charge), to the store, and have it within a few days.
I highly recommend Gatehouse Games to any of the hobbyists out there, because you wont find a better selection in this area...if it all!
