From expert to novice, casual fan to hardcore follower, this store caters to both extremes and any thing in between. If you are a beginner, the knowledgeable staff will answer any questions you may have and get you started but also encourages you to choose your own path. Gatehouse Games is the best gaming store out there

by Bob W.

Over the last 10 years I've spent time in PA, Kentucky, Texas, South Carolina, and now in New York. I have yet to find a gaming store that comes anywhere close to Gatehouse Games. Not only does he carry everything you could want, but he knows and plays the vast majority of the games.

Gatehouse Games is hands down the best hobby store I've even been to

by Walt N.

I've been a customer and close friend with Tim for years. Gatehouse Games has everything you could possible need for gaming and if he doesn't have it in stock, he can get it for you no problem with a very quick turnaround time. There isn't a person out there that is more dedicated to the industry and helpful than Tim. I no longer live in PA, but after seeing many different hobby stores around the country (especially the ones here in Vegas), there are none that can even come close to matching Gatehouse Games.

Gatehouse Games is GREAT!

by Bill O.

Gatehouse Games is an awesome experience.
It offers gamers a wide variety of options from multiple card games, to role playing, and war gaming, all in one store.
It's a friendly and social environment and there always seems to be someone to play or talk to.
Tim Gatehouse, the owner, is a great guy that is always willing to help out or to set you up with a game. He is full of information regarding the newest releases and rules to just about any game you can think of.

Espresso and a FREE Puppy!!

by David w.

I could not hope to convey my admiration for Gatehouse Games well enough in this review. Experiencing it yourself is by far the best recommendation I could make. But I'll do my best...

I have gamed in many hobby stores along the east coast and as far west as Texas and I have yet to find another store (privately owned or otherwise) with as much "gamer friendly" accommodations as Gatehouse has. From hand-made terrain tables for tabletop miniature games to seats and tables for CCG's to the available space for boardgames, nowhere else has come close.

Another facet of Gatehouse Games is the inventory of gaming product. Again, few stores I have walked into are as well-laid out and well-stocked as Gatehouse is.

Along with all of the above comes a lively atmosphere full of gamers always looking to game and a professional, friendly owner, Tim Gatehouse. Tim is well-versed in all things gaming and is always willing to show you around and give you a demo of any game.

So, if you are looking for something that won't give your thumbs cramps or have been gaming for years and need a new place to throw your trash talk, then come into the bastion of gaming that is Gatehouse Games.

A great place to learn a new hobby

by Cindy S.

Top of the line shop, reasonable prices, and a very convenient location with lots of parking. Close to shopping, restaurants and hotel accommodations if you are looking to make a day of shopping in the area, attend an Altoona Curve Baseball game, or other local event. Shop owner has EXTENSIVE knowledge of any type of gaming you are interested in and is very personable. Both of my sons game there. Great place to learn a new hobby and make some new friends.

The store I can't seem to leave.

by Tyler M.

When I was a young lad of 13, I remember my dad taking me to a small store on the corner of Hollidaysburg Plaza, called Gatehouse Games. I met Tim, the owner and bought a pack of Pokemon cards, as I was obsessed with them at the time. Since that day, I have been going there for a number of reasons and games, sometimes even just to stop in and soak up the atmosphere and hang out. Now the store has moved to a new location (a much larger one in the same plaza), and has grown immensely since its founding 13 years ago. It is the only place in the area that I have found that sells miniatures of all varieties, even harder to find ones such as Mordheim, Battlefleet Gothic, and Bloodbowl. They even sometimes have things in stock that are out of print, that even Ebay cant find you!

I remember when I first needed to learn how to paint my miniatures, I was lost to all of the tricks of the craft, and learned a small bit at home on my own, but my minis always came out looking awful. The owner actually sat me down over a period of days, and taught me how to paint my miniatures, and ever since I have immensely improved. Using his constant tips and help, I have managed to surpass some who have been painting much longer than I have. I now use my miniatures to play in a Mordheim league on Wednesdays, and I am progressively getting closer to a Warhammer army with the store's immense selection and help. If there is anything I need that they don't have in stock, I can always have it ordered (free of charge), to the store, and have it within a few days.

I highly recommend Gatehouse Games to any of the hobbyists out there, because you wont find a better selection in this area...if it all!

Easily the best gaming store I've been to

by Anonymous

Awesome owner! Love gaming in all forms and it shows. He keeps a clean well stocked store, knows rules for virtually every game you can throw at him. He holds regular tournaments and plays a lot himself. Plenty of regulars but they are very friendly if you are new to the area. I highly recommend!
