.

We took a tour of this lovely old home and the grounds around it and wee just taken in by the charm and history here!

It was the home of General Edward Hand and to this day remains authentic and a testaent to the fine country living of back when Rock Ford Plantation was alive with dwellers and in its prime.

We took a guided tour and the lady was very nice and informative and all it cost was the amount of a donation you feel appropriate to help keep preserving this history as it should be.

When you look into the rooms-some of which you CAN enter, you will be amazed at how small everything was back then, because well, the people back then were smaller/shorter.

You'll even see the old kitchen-with the huge stone fireplace on the lower level-built purposly there because of the heat in the hot months.

Its just a great place to see and visit, epsecially if you love the hsitory of old homes.
There's even a little gift shop area on the lower level of the home and the prices for things there were reasonable. We bought a book all about General Edward Hand and the home.

PROS: Authentic as it was back then. Free tour(donations much appreciated though)
CONS: None-but check schedualing to make sure of hours as they change seasonally
