I normally go to the trusty shop at Baum and Negley (not to be named) for repairs and inspection. Recently, I found that that shops mechanic does sometimes recommend services or repairs that are not totally necessary. (At one time last year, after I went there to confront the friendly owner, they told me they must have made an error and the brake rotors were fine and need not be replaced or repaired at all. I have been going to that shop for inspection and emission tests. Every year, I get a bill of $169-$691. Granted, sometimes the new parts are needed.

So, a few days ago, I decided to another shop (High tech auto care at 6311 Butler St) after seeing a coupon of $9.95 for inspection and emission tests. Being suspicious, I first called the shop to confirm the FINAL price. I was told that the sticker would cost $2 extra and plus tax. Wow! Really. I decided it is worth a try. Even if they recommend repairs that are expensive, I can always go to my regular shop again to check. Today, I got a call from High Tech Auto Care saying my car is ready for pickup. Period. What??? There is no repairs or services needed???? Wow! This is the first time that happened to me for the past 5 years. The final price I paid? $13.86 ONLY (tax and fees included)!!!! Unbelievable.
I checked the price of their other services (such coolant flush, regular inspection and emission, oil change, etc...) listed at the shop; they are all much cheaper than the rates I paid at other shops. I wish I had come to this shop for my other car's inspection last month. The shop at Baum I went for inspection and emission did not even check my tire pressures (for which I had to pay $0.75 a week later because I noticed the pressure were low and verified it to be about 26 psi for all 4 tires) Oh, well, this high-tech auto care will be my regular shop from now on.

I read one review on this shop (and found only one review) somewhere on the internet; the reviewer said this shop "...is the best kept secret..." Yes, I agree, at least for now, for my first experience with the shop, I am totally amazed! I will update my review in the future when I get more visits to that shop (well, hope not until next year's inspection time).
