I could eat there every day! Chef Davey is a favorite. The only way to make it better would be to make it FREE!

I love this market. They have everything. their fresh juices are the best. The prices are high, but you are getting top quality and really no one else compares with their freshness and selection!

Essene market contains a wide selection of fresh vegetables, frozen foods, and traditional health food fare. The store also features a cafe area in the rear of the store. The menu varies daily but does have some "regular" menu items. You can also get freshly squeezed juice in several varieties.

I love this store. The vitamins and supplements can be a bit expensive compared to other placed, but their products are great. Also, the people who work here are WONDERFUL. They are friendly and helpful and make this store a great place to come to for Natural Items.

Essene is a natural foods neighborhood landmark, & even though their prices are pretty high, they really have no competition when you look at what they stock. The question is, what don't they stock? The store has virtually everything, & if they don't have it, they'll be happy to get it for you. It really is a one-stop shop with nearly every product line represented. They have sales every day; reasonably priced organic produce; an amazing hot/cold food bar with fresh soups, salads, sandwiches & house specialties; a comfortable eating area; an enormous selection of bulk bins with every imaginable grain, flour, bean, spice & nut; a vitamin department with a dizzying array of household & beauty products, & a room in the back where they offer (mostly free) lectures on cooking, health & natural foods. And finally, they give away a ton of food to the local homeless community. Prepare to drop a lot of cash here, especially if it's your first visit. Shopping here is very, very addicting.

PROS: gargantuan product selection, fantastic prepared foods, organic produce
CONS: a bit cramped - they have a lot of stuff here!
