Stopped at this bright and congenial spot last month on the way to a morning appointment. I had forgotten about their focus on organic/fair trade beans. Staff was prompt and courteous. Coffee and cake, terrific! Do yourself a favor and give the Wawa down the block a break. Stop here!

Joe Coffee is a small cafe that sits underneath Thomas Jefferson Hospital. The owner, Joe Cesa, is well-versed in the art of coffee and his ethical stance on fair-trade, shade-grown, and organic beans reflects in the wide selection that is offered (and is sold by the cup & by the pound). Joe also carries organic teas, juices, sweet things to munch on, and quality sandwiches made on site. If you're on your way to see a show at the theater, waiting for a loved one to get out an appointment at TJUH, or just in the neighborhood, sit down with a great-tasting cup of coffee from a gay-friendly establishment that you can feel good about supporting.

the coffee is good, and the shabby couches are supposed to be for hipsters, but for $3 coffee, could be better digs and more friendly attitude. also, won't let you use your debit card which is annoying.
