YOUR PET IS JUST A $$ SIGN HERE  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

They charge exorbrant prices for subpar care. They're waiting room is extremely chaotic and disorganized. I went in for a regular check-up last Sat for my 2 little dogs and it was a zoo. There was a sign in sheet at front desk so signed in and took seat since there was 8 people at the front desk. 45 min go by and I ask how much longer it will be and the girl says well did you check in and I say I signed in and she says "Well I was suppose to annouce my arrival with her"!!! Why do they have a sign in sheet if its obsolete. My 1 dog is not good with other dogs & noise and was shaking & heart racing the entire time. I explained to them that is was causing undue stress for my dog to have to be waiting in this environment. She looked like she could care less and proceeded to make me wait an add'l 15 min. Finally they called me into another room only to have to wait another 15 min. Finally I've had enough, this place only cares about how much $$ they can make off your pet and regular check-ups just dont cut it. Also they tried to talk me into 6 vaccinations for my dog all at once last year not even caring about my concern for any reactions that dogs may have. Trust me lm looking into other vets as my dogs desever better attentive care and service.

you decide  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

I have found varying levels of care for my pets at this practice. The one vet I would suggest avoiding is the blonde female who displays large mood swings resembling bipolar. The front office is rude which you tend to overlook if the vet care is exceptional. The male vets are more compassionate. Billing is high and they seem unorganized.

Best Care by the Best Veterinarians and Caring Staff! for Beloved Pets  5 Star Rating - World class

This veterinary hospital is the best that I have ever gone to! The Docs there have treated and diagnosed my dogs for several years. I will go to no other vet hospital if I can avoid it. The docs there have fixed botched emergency visits that had been done at other emergency hospitals that have nearly killed my dogs, and in one case helped me thru the dreadful experience I had when Malvern Referral killed my favorite girl on a weekend doing a botched c-section! If you think the costs are high..go to Penn or Malvern Referal! I have compared the med costs and they are comparable to most other sources, including the cheap by mail items. I have had my dogs bathed there and they did a great job and the first time I thought they made a mistake on my bill because it was so inexpensive for a large dog that is difficult to bathe and dry. I had paid that much at one of those "Bathe your Own" dog places and it took me 3 hrs! My advice is; go to Bryn Mawr Vet if you love your Pet and disregard the disgruntled people that probably complain about everything all the time! Diane B

Excellent Caring Staff Through-out  5 Star Rating - World class

Our family's cats and dogs have been receiving excellent care and have been boarded at BMVH regularly for 25 years. The two founding Veterinarians are excellent, and each of the few additional veterinarians during that time have been outstanding. Moreover, in all that time I have seen genuine caring from the staff for all the pets present, whether they were being seen or boarded. I am not a Main Line resident, I take my pets there because good veterinary care is not free, and not easy to find, but even less than good care is costly. As an example, our determined cocker spaniel found her way into a 2 lb bag of cooking chocolate, with nearly deadly results. We called and then rushed her to the Penn Veterinary Emergency facility in Philadelphia. They were able to save her life. After a hugely expensive day there, they spoke to us about their desire to have our pet stay for another 48 hours and be treated. The charge for that additional time was going to be $2500. I love my pet, but that was not going to be possible. I called up Bryn Mawr from the Penn facility, and spoke with one of the veterinarians as to what was going to be required in terms of care, and could they provide this. The response was of course. The cost was under $400 which may sound expensive until you have a comparison to the $2500. There are a variety of services that many veterinary boarding facilities do not offer. If you prefer to have your pet just caged while boarding that is fine, and the care is excellent. However, if you want additional activities, then there will be additional charges. To me, that is a good policy, particulary when the facility and staff have proven themselves to be outstanding and trustworthy.

Consistent good care  5 Star Rating - World class

We've taken our pets to BM Vet Hospital for many years. We went there after we got 2 Abyssinian kittens and another vet (who allegedly specializes in treating cats) nearly killed them by giving these indoor-only pets leukemia shots. We later learned that leukemia nearly wiped out the breed -- a fact that the vets at BM Vet Hospital knew. They are the only vets I have encountered who seem truly knowledgeable about potential problems with the breed, and they routinely monitor for those problems.

We also boarded our mixed breed dog there and found the total charges to be on par with Pet Smart -- even though the dog got FAR more attention (walks, play time, etc.) than at Pet Smart.

Fabulous Vetinary Care  4 Star Rating - Very good

I have 3 cats and a very skittish rescue dog. While another local vet showed no compassion for my dog, EVERY vet at Bryn Mawr has been fabulous with my dog who is very difficult to examine. Prompt care, same day sick appointments, follow up phone calls are all part of the impressive service I get at Bryn Mawr. And yes, good care COSTS ... remember, we use to pay out-of-pocket for HUMAN care ...

Wonderful staff and great care  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I strongly disagree with the negative reviews of this great veterinary hospital. They are the most knowledgeable, thorough, and caring vets I have ever dealt with. They listen to me as an owner and make my cats feel comfortable. So much so that at my last visit, one of my cats was purring on the exam table!
I encourage anyone to trust their beloved best furry friend(s) to these great people.
As to the expense, I find them very fair. Running a clinic like that isn't cheap so if you want your pet to get the best care around, expect to pay for it.

Complete Rip Off! Don't Board Your Pet Here!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

This hosipital is the most unproffessional veterinary hospital I have every sent my dogs to board. The staff snickered when I explained that no, my show dog is not fixed. Two of my dogs boarded there, I sent them with their own food, my bill was not ajusted and I never got the extra back. I was charge 64.00 for baths and nails of which I had no idea this was a "required" "additional" charge and the baths and nails were never done. I have my dogs as proof. It is extremely evident that the main focus of this facility is the buck not the dog. By the end of the three day boarding I ended up paying triple the "published" boarding costs. Stay away!

Fleecing Their Clients  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Yes, quality care is important and many vets in the area are just as good if not better BUT to demanding $500.00 for a simple neutering of a small dog is insane. They should be ashamed of themselves! Wake up, people...just becuase you live on the Main Line, doesn't mean you should allow these people to rip you off!!!

Great Vet  4 Star Rating - Very good

I don't understand the first negative review at all. I have had animals for most of my life, most of them in the Philadelphia suburbs. I have found the vets at Bryn Mawr highly compassionate, caring, and devoted to their craft. When I had to put down my elderly dog last year, the vet talked me through it, and was gentle and kind to me AND my dog. The staff is uniformly helpful and I recommend them highly. Expensive? Yes! What vet isn't these days?

Provides the best animal care that I have ever seen.  5 Star Rating - World class

I'm not quite sure what the previous reviewer is referring to, because I have never been treated in a negative or cold manner. I have been using Bryn Mawr. Vet. Hospital for about 13 years, and I have nothing but positive things to say about them. Every single one of their doctors cares a great deal about all of the pets they care for. When my kitten was sick, the vet who cared for him did more than I have seen any other vet. do for an animal. Everyone single person who works for Bryn Mawr Veterinary Hospital is responsible, caring, and responsive. I would not even consider going to elsewhere.

AVIOD LIKE THE PLAGUE  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

This place provides the worst pet "care" of any place I have been to in 30+ years of owning pets. They are completely money minded and have set up their system to gouge their main line clients out of every cent possible. The office manager is unprofessional and has a negative and very cold personality unlike any I have ever seen. Her job is to make sure this practice maximizes revenues to the fullest, and she does that job quite well. With the exception of Sandy at the front desk, the other reception people are rude, and there is one with short curly hair who is downright beligerent while she hands you the bill for thousands of dollars and grabs your credit card from you. These vets and the management DO NOT CARE about animals, nor are they concerned with providing affordable pet care for responsible pet owners. They are concerned with PROFITS. Also - they made unauthorized charges on our credit card and even had the audacity to charge huge sums for phone calls ("consultations" in their minds) to us. Avoid this place like the plague.
