When we went out the Saturday before St. Patty's--which was also the last weekend of beer week--we didn't think we'd be able to get a seat anywhere. We lucked out when we stopped here, though, as it was nowhere near crowded. They played good music, have a pool table, and had a really good selection of beer on tap. I didn't have high hopes for the place, but it turned out being a great place to hang out and have a few beers, especially since the crowd was minimal and the music not too loud to talk over.

This is a very nice bar/pub. You can play pool, have drinks and listen to music. The drinks are not watered down like most philly clubs. Not very expensive. Nice place to just hang out.

One of my group of friends' and my favorite Monday nights stops, they have $4 Jameson shots and like the title says: Cheap, over-sized drafts...The bartender, Mike is a great guy, and always has his Nintendo Wii ready to play...
Pros: HUGE and cheap draft beers!
Cons: smaller mixed drinks...
Yo this place is what's up! We got cheap drinks, fine lookin waitresses, and sweet lil hunnies all over the place. Me and my boys will be back regularly to chill here! Best place in center city yo!
Pros: Females, Prices, Staff, and the juke box is full of Old Skool
Cons: Need more room to dance
I find Las Vegas lounge very comfortable. Sometimes I start my night there sometimes I end my night there. It's just what a neighborhood bar should be, unpretentious and familiar- oh and the food is good.
Pros: good place to people watch, pool, connect 4
This is a very strange place to eat lunch. There is almost no one there eating lunch but the bar is packed with lowlife bar flies. I went with 2 other ladies and we felt woefully out of place and uncomfortable. The decor is repulsive, it looks like a New Orleans bordello threw up. The stereo was deafening. That being said, the waitress was very nice, she turned down the stereo on request, and the food was really very good. It is such a shame that we felt so uncomfortable with the decor and the atmosphere (and the clientele) that we will never set foot in the place again. It reminded me of a front where they look like they are in business but it's really just a place for the guys to drink. I half expected to see Tony Soprano! This is a shame as a good restaurant can do very well at this location, La Scala is across the street and bursting at the seams with patrons.
The Las Vegas Lounge was a unique experience. The service was pleasant and extremely efficient. The atmosphere was enjoyable! The crowd was friendly and handsome. The menu was modernly stylish. The cuisine was first-rate! I experienced flavor sensations that have been long forgotten by far too many watering holes. I live in the suburbs, and I crave this style of tavern in my neighborhood. However, the creepy crawlies in the place are running rampant. It is evident that sanitation is not a priority. This no doubt does offend the dining experience. Cleanliness is admired long before any exquisite menu, and dictates the extent to which the majority of "foodies" will venture into the unique depths of a chef's creativityt! Clean up and we will return to graciously satisfy a hunger that no suburban establishment can fill!
Pros: The food, the service, beer selection, and reasonable prices
Cons: Sanitation, Infestation, and could use slightly better wine to complement such an oustanding menu.
I can not tell if this bar was legendary at one point or if center city people have way too high of standards. However, reading the other reviews, it seems like either this place really aggrivated a number of the old regular customers, or some people have a personal vendetta against it that dates back to 2005. It also seems like the staff is trying to redeem the place by writing a few reviews themselves (it looks like these date back to 2005 as well). So please allow a non-partisan opinion. I had my first visit yesterday. I heard their advertisement on 104.5, and a few of my pals joined me for a visit. I don't know if I would feel comfortable ordering food there, but that's not what this place is about. It's a party bar. Go there drink and be merry! 6 of us did round after round of shots, drank a ton of beer, and our check was less than $100.00! The staff seemed nice, but I didn't really engage in conversation with them. They made my drinks and said thank you. I know it's center city and all, but what do you want from a bar? For a place like this, I just want cheap drinks, a place to sit down, and to be able to hear my friends talk. It supplied that. I don't know if I'd ever become a die hard regular, but I'll stop by if I'm in the area.
Pros: not too crowded, prices, comfortable
Cons: could use more eye candy
Very good music, nice menu, perverted crowd, and someone lost their cookies in the bathroom (It was still there when we left hours later). Take it or leave it.
Pros: Nice menu, sweet bartender, and excellent music choice
Cons: many perverts, cleanliness
I was THE regular biotch in the window seat of the lounge for years. In my professional opinion it is definitely trying to change. The menu is much better, the inside looks much different (except for the walls like a vampires hideout). But it just seems like something is missing. The place is not nearly as fun as it was in the old days. Its become more or less the snooze button. Me and my girls used to go because you could meet a cute guy there. They really aren't there anymore...nobody is. They all hang at Time or Vintage now. They seem to be the new in the biz bars with the old crowd. I've always said that Eric (the gorgeous previous owner) was the cornerstone of the Lounge. I'm writing now because I just noticed that when they improved the facade they removed that cornerstone (we actually name a brick in the corner Eric). In terms of the food, I did try the mac n cheese. It was pretty good, but not as good as the last review made it out to be. I think mr. chefy is trying to talk himself up a bit anonymously.
Pros: memories
I recently had the good fortune to stumble into this established, yet revived restaurant/bar. The atmosphere is swanky cool and relaxed. However, I write this more about the food. The menu has been beefed up from its previous iteration (from what my friends tell me). The variety and caliber of food is excellent. The crab cakes are the best outside of Maryland that I have had in a long time. Mussels: mouth wateringly succulent. What more can I say? Oh, hat's off to the chef...well done indeed, BRAVO! I will be back!
Pros: Excellent food! Great value for the money!
Cons: not a real con, but get a BIG SIGN out front
Seems odd how some people get one thing from a place and others just don't. I guess what I look for is old school. The food was excellent from the huge burgers with a load of melted cheese toasted to perfection. the real crabcaps bursting with crab meat and muscles to die for. All this and great beer prices and a reasonable selection. I asked for somthing I got it. A principle seemingly out dated. Don't tell any one this bar meets the critteria I have seldomly found, good place good comfort food and good prices. Hopfully the other bad reviewers will move on. once the cat is out of the bag I know It will become crowded and I hate waiting for a table.
Pros: thumbs up
I've never had such awful service as I have at this bar! My group and I generously over-tipped all throughout happy hour, with alot of money sitting on the bar. The bartender ignored us for 30 minutes. We figured out that no one tipped on the last two rounds. But money was sitting on the bar! Did you happen to think we wouldn't tip at least at the end? The bartender would literally look at us and walk away.
Pros: NONE
Cons: TERRIBLE service
I really don't see what people are talking about...or I wonder that's what they used to talk about, being as that the bar was empty on a prime night. I gave the place another chance after a rude bartender treated me like I was burdening her with wanting a drink. I wasn't impressed the first time around due to the smell, atmosphere, mediocre at best food menu, and obviously the service. At my next visit, the service was much better (thanks blonde sweet bartender who's name I don't remember), atmosphere was the same, and the smell was worse. They advertised a new food menu and it looks pretty good. All I'll say is that looks can be deceiving, but the effort was there. I imagine the only way I would return, is if my friends were meeting there and I couldn't pursuade them otherwise.
Pros: cheap drinks?
Cons: overly-intoxicated people from cheap drinks, smell, decor, not busy
This place is not at all what I expected when I saw the outside. It looks like hell! Really it looks like it's falling apart. But I guess the cool staff and good music keeps pepple coming back. I was so famished that i dared to try their food. The bartender recommended a few things on the menu, and i took his advice. I was fairly impressed! The crowd was pretty cool too. There were attractive girls in there. I'll definitely go back!
Pros: good service, good crowd, good food, excellent music
Cons: you might fall through the floor
Umm did a bomb went off in this place? I walked in the bar and tripped over a peice of ply wood that is supposed to be the floor of the entrance. The bartender told me rudely that they were under construction but all i saw was the destruction of a once cool place. It was like 50 degrees in there because the heat isn't working! It was literally freezing out and the heat itsn't working!?! This place has a limited life. It was early in the night, the bar wasn't busy, and i had to wait a long time for a drink so the bartender could finish her conversation. After she walked by me for the third time I asked if i could have a drink and she yelled at me for it and gave me dirty looks the rest of the time she was there. You got a hot bod sweetheart but your attitude makes you uglier than your face! I would have left after my first drink but she was on her way out the door. They must do a late shift exchange or something. The night time bartender was curteous and cool. I feel bad for him. Run like hell Sean that place is going to crumble.....literally! Whoever manages that place should be ashamed, and the owners should be embarassed.
Pros: 1 cool bartender, cheap drinks, sometimes good music
Cons: the place is a safety hazard, no heat, utterly rude bartender, disgustingly dirty, pathetically decaying
I stopped in LVL for the first time in about two years the other day and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned since its Y2K party. Seriously, I understand the attraction to cheap beer, but I wouldn't buy anything that wasn't in a bottle at the LVL. The staff was all right and there were some cool people there, but overall, this place's glory days are in the past. I'll stick to some of the other neighborhood haunts.
Pros: Cheap Drinks, If that's Important to You
Cons: Dirt, Filth, and Crud
I have been to the Las Vegas Lounge a couple of times and I wish I could go more because I really liked it.. The beers are cheap, the staff in attentive and pleasant. There aren't many bars in the area like that one. I find it hard to believe that the entire staff is disrespectful as abbycart previously wrote. I just don't see it. On my third trip there, I was recognized and the bartender even remembered what I drank. I was having a horrible day and I was made to feel very welcome. I get the impression that a lot of regulars come in there because the bartender greeted most guests by name and had their drinks ready, which says a lot. If someone who has been to a lot of bars can't find a bar with employees more rude and disrespectul than the Las Vegas Lounge, than you haven't been to a lot of bars. The city is full of rude people and bad staff, but this bar isn't one of them. I would recommend a bar around the corner whose five letter name begins with a "C" and ends in an "S" (I won't mention it fully) Their staff and their attitudes make the Las Vegas Lounge look like a five star pampered resort. Stick with the Las Vegas Lounge, you can't go wrong.
Pros: Cheap beers, friendly, playful staff, good music
Cons: Just o.k food
I've been to many bars in my life, but I have never seen such rude employees as the LVL employees. The service is horrible, and the employees are simply rude and disrepectful. This place used to be awesome a couple years back, but now is not worth my time.
I definitely dig the Las Vegas Lounge! It's got a good vibe going on with a great variety of music, cheap prices and a cool staff. I have been there several times and have never had a problem getting a great drink from friendly bartenders. I mean, they are people, so maybe they have bad nights too- who knows? I just don't get the unfriendly vibe from anyone there. The crowd is diverse and even when it's slow, it's still a chill place.
Pros: Very pretty bartender, cheap prices
Cons: Smokey
This place is a wild card. It depends on when you go. Sometimes it is completely boring but other times it's ok. Whatever rival you people obviously have going on here I have to tend to agree that the staff are not the friendliest bunch. Then again there was one bartender there that treated me decent. Don't know too much about the food but i agree with whoever said the place is dirty. I've been here a handfull of times but have never felt welcomed by the bartenders. I basically wanted to acknowledge the one bartender in there who treated me decent and helped me find some other cool spots. Sorry, wish I remembered your name and knew exactly what shifts you worked because i don't feel comfortable in this spot with these other people you work with. I'm the one that moved here in July (you jotted me a map down). Anyway, if you remember Thank You but you need to get a job somewhere else.
Pros: One very nice bartender???
Cons: not the best service, (please people try to be nice)
I have always loved the LVL. It's a great, laidback place to chill. It could use a cleaning, but who cares when the beers are so cheap. I have always loved the staff ESPECIALLY the blonde bartender, who has always been more than pleasant to me and my friends. If your drinks are weak, you are either an alcoholic or are a bad tipper. If blondie was rude to you, you must have said something messed up. Everyone else there is great, even the dudes who work there. I love it
Pros: cool staff, cheap beers
Cons: dirty bathrooms, whiney customers who write bad reviews about cool staff
I have been to the Lounge on and off for years and find it hysterical that, even though it is the cheapest place to drink in Center City, some people still find things to complain about. I work nearby and have patronized every type of bar there is from "high-class' to 'dive' and one of the places I find the most entertaining and relaxed is the lounge. There's no denying it could use a little T.L.C but who cares really? If it offends you, simply go next door to Jones or across to the Apollo, both of which are also nice places and not too expensive either. I've never been treated rudely at the Lounge, I'm usually on a lunch hour and even sitting at a bar full of blue-collar city workers have been made to feel welcome and comfortable by my bartender. I won't complain about the food because I know BY THE MENU POSTED OUTSIDE what they offer before I walk in. It's a great place for a couple of med students on a college budget to go and grab a beer and a sandwich and know they will still have money to get home. You won't hear them complaining about something that is broken. I guess what I'm saying is this, if it's not your scene, don't bash it, just go somewhere else.
Pros: prices, the great window, ice cold beer
Cons: wish it was bigger!
No dress code, no snotty people, no worries. The place has the best drink specials in the area. Where on earth can you get 20 oz draft for like two or three bucks outside kensington? I really like the music there and the bartenders will play stuff for if they have it. Bartenders are cool and the waitresses are cute. Especially the one with all the tattoos! I started going there with my college friends during the school season. When I'm back home I'll occasionally take a trip back down to the city just to chill there on a Friday or Saturday night. So if you're in the area and feel like getting away from upscale snobby places check LVL out, it effing rules!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Drink prices, music, staff
Cons: cigarette prices
Las Vegas Lounge is a place that has become extremely misunderstood. I've been going there for about 4 years now. I remember when the first owner. I enjoy the place now as much as I did then. I agree that the place could use some cleaning and definitely a makeover. However, do I really feel like paying for the cosmetics of the place when I'm drinking so damn cheap? The food NEEDS work. We have surpassed the old days when dive bars have food you don't eat especially when a competitive business is becoming even more competitive. If I'm drinking at a dive doesn't mean that I want my arteries to take a dive too. As far the help goes, I miss the good old days when the bar was being robbed blind. I could sit there and drink no lie for 3 hours and pay $10. Or even better yet drink until 4 or 5 am which could lose the place's liquor license. Or unfortunately watch one bartender sexually harass waitresses. But who on earth could blame an owner for firing such "great help". It's funny how you say you don't like the new bartenders, because the only one i, and everyone else, don't like is the one who has been there for years. The rest of them are generally pleasant to reasonable people, and hysterical with the unreasonable ones. They're not corporate wimps. They don't have to put up with stupid b.s. They do their own bouncing and I've never seen a fight there. As for the music, they do take requests. I've seen bartenders there play more than a few requests for one persone even if it was music that they could not stand. Honestly I suspect that Kevin is somebody that frequents Cocoa's (The 8th St. bar which is full of bitter ex-vegas employees who openly bad mouth Vegas to their guests with every chance they get) . I recommend Vegas as a place to party after dinner to anyone who enjoys being around real people for a really reasonable price! Scott please quit. Stacy, Shane, Susie, and Erica thank you so much!
I found this place on the internet. As a world traveler and beer drinker I 'm always looking for places for bargains.I got tired of those $6.00 pints,$10.00 special drinks and feeling "I got screwed over paying for drinks and had no fun doing it".The las Vegas Lounge was awesome!$2.25 pint beers,$3.00 cosmos for my wife and cheap special drinks.Erika and Shayne treated us great.Went there every night during our trip. The jukebox was awesome, you ask for the song and if they have on thier internet jukebox they will play it for you.Highly recommed
Pros: beer specials, Happy hours, Inexpensive
Cons: smoking
I really enjoyed the bartender (Marcus) and Nice Guy Mike greeting me at the door. Waitresses provided great service. Food was excellent and cheaply priced, (chicken fingers are homemade and to die for). The 20 oz. drafts are very cold and cheap especially for the Philly area. Try a Cosmo if you go, they are the best!!
Pros: Cheap, Good crowd, great music
I was there only once and I LOVED it! The owner was very nice and the Saturday night drink prices can't be beat! If you like Sinatra and his crew, you'll love this place!
Pros: Great Music, Cheap drinks, Fun Atmosphere
The bar is cool, nice decor etc - nice little place.... but the bar staff let the place down and are a little cocky, and so is the door man! we danced to some good music, but they changed the tempo - I asked to change the music, they wouldn't budge so we all stopped dancing!! But probably would go back there.. worth a look in anyway.
Pros: nice decor, good food, good drinks
Cons: staff not so friendly
Bar service is pretty bad, it takes a while to get a drink even when there's no one there, the waitresses are always waiting for the bartender to take their drink orders and they hold you up.
Waitress is cute but she goes out with the owner/bartender so don't try it.
Nachos are a disgrace to the idea thought he chicken fingers aren't that bad.
At least it's cheap and they have Golden Tee and good Trivia machine.
Pros: Price of drinks, Specials, Relaxing Atmosphere
Cons: Nachos, Food, Service
The Lounge is great...maybe because it has a Golden Tee 2003.
Pros: Golden Tee
This is one of the great bars in Philly. It is not over priced and is very casual. The people that you meet are great and friendly. The owner is probably the coolest in Philly and the bartenders are always there with a quick joke or a light of your smoke. Just a all around great place to unwind.
Pros: Greatest Bartenders, Great owner, Excellent Atmosphere
Great place to go for lunch! Great place to go after work! Great deals on food, beer and mixed drinks! Maybe it's because I live on the same block as the Vegas Lounge? But no one can't beat the service or the deals! "BIG UP'S" to the Las Vegas Lounge's chef "Wayne"! Two words? > "Good peoples!" longtime customer, BT
Pros: 20oz Lagers $2.00, pool tables, good people
The owners are very friendly and keep you coming back. Great place to go for happy hour!
I have found the place! The LVL has all the style and atmosphere you could want - sans the "Can't you tell I'm wearing Prada" attitude. Having frequented many of Philly's Phinest establishments, the LVL is on the top of my list. See you there after work!
Pros: Atmosphere, People, Drinks
Very friendly after work bar that feels like a neighborhood bar. Inexpensive specials on both beer/mixed drinks and finger food. Pleasant and friendly staff. Monday thru Wednesday afternoon/Happy hour bartender is extremely pleasant person (Heather)and extremely pleasant on the eyes. Try it, you will like it!
While the old bar was great, but the new owner has done a wonderful job. The staff are funny and more than competent. I always have a great time when I go in.
The drinks are made with care and persion. the day time bartender is very friendly and entertaining, and also easy on the eyes. The food tastes very good and is served in a timely manner.
I go there at lease once a week.
Pros: tastey drinks, friendly crowd
Cons: parking, prices
Its Swing and Manhattan's Up, baby.... but don't forget that Yuengling is probably the most consumed through the multi-tap.
Once a frat boy, once a Vegas bartender, owner Erik has set this one up wisely. The "Lounge" is a "come as you are" spot. The local stone mason may be at the bar while presumed celebs stroll in dressed to the "nines." Highly recommended for a departmental happy hour, but surely a fine choice for your first stop for a night on the town. The food, its fab.... Wayne knows how to cook it up! Hard-working, attentive bartenders.
Ask for the three-ring binder to pick your favorite muz to be played overhead, and be sure to throw requeast at least one Sinatra or equivilant. This is the Vegas Lounge, after all.
Pros: "Big Band" atmosphere, Attentive Bartenders, Reasonable pricing
Cons: Small bathrooms
Atmosphere is great. It's fun to hang at the bar because the bartenders have great senses of humor and awesome personalities. They have specials every day of the week. There's no question, I'm definitely going back.
Pros: Parking across street
This place is GREAT!!! Stumbled in by accident and closed the joint! Real good inexpensive bar food and waaaaaayyyyy cheap drink prices. This is one bar you definately feel welcome at; and get this .. the bartender gave me and my girlfriends free reign over the music! That's right, you get to pick out what you want to hear! Philly soooo needs this place
Pros: cool, inexpensive, mellow
Omg what a great place to hang out with friends and co-workers. Drink specials are da bomb and the bartenders are sooo cute its hard to pick which is the best one. Nice place to just relax and have fun. Thanks LVL for giving me a place to go.
Pros: Drink specials, Freindly atmosphere, Hotty bartenders
This is a great place to get together with friends and co-workers. The drink specials are out of this world.
Look bars are ment to have a vibe, LV Lounge has plenty of it. Look Over Sold's rating is that of a failing waiter or waitress that wants you to go their place to drink, with a bar person that has no personality. Do you want toned down have a drink look at the light fixtures and decor and know why your paying 7.00 a beer?If you like going to a bar that has atmosphere, music, people that want to let loose then LV Lounge in Philly, Baby, Philly.
Pros: value, fun, fun, chicks, hot chicks
Great beer, great staff, great atmosphere. All they need is a blackjack table and I can save money on flights out West.
These other reviews are completely overselling this joint. I work around the corner and go there fairly often. Yes, the drinks are cheap. $2 20-ounce drafts are hard to pass up. Yes, the current look of the place is incredibly better than the previous incarnation, Leneghan's, which was dreadful. But, the current decor shouldn't impress anyone. Actually, the fact that it tries to pass itself off as a "Las Vegas" lounge is funny. Stuffing the walls w/ pictures of old Las Vegas and the Rat Pack doesn't quite cut it. No, the food is not great, it's OK. The ventilation is awful...and I smoke. The service is fine. This place is good for a cheap time w/ friends, a greasy burger and a buzz. One visit to the men's room should remind you of that. So let's not kid ourselves.
Pros: Cheap
This bar is great. Two pool tables. Great beers. Great specials. What more could you ask for?
Very impressive transformation. What used to be there reminded me more of the back streets of Atlantic City than the Strip in Vegas. This bar captures that positive Vegas vibe.
Physically and crowd wise I have watched it get better and better all the time. I am looking forward to a Sinatra night with all Smirnoff drinks $1 off or something similar.
Staff is very cool. Made me feel like I had been there before my first time and remembers you. Good crowd, although I hope it continues to upgrade with more of a Vegas feel to make it better at all times of the day/week.
Fantastic Value - I felt like I had won money after checking my wallet on the way out. Hope to pull a Frado with some of the great staff someday.
Makes you feel cool telling people you know where it is.
Pros: Atmosphere, Value, Always improving
Cons: Lopsided cue ball, Some things, need improving
I agree with others that the Drinks are cheap, the decor is cool, and the service is top notch. I disagree with the Live music. He is too loud, you cant hear your self or your friends. If I wanted to hear a garage band I would cruise the local high schools because they would have more talent than the guy they have playing.
Who needs old city when you can go right to Vegas!! This place is awesome! Drinks are twice the size and half the price as old city. The bartenders rock and the food is good and inexpensive! Oh yeah, and live music every friday with no cover! This place has it togoether!
Pros: inexpensive, fun, great music
Cons: small men's room
