Awful, awful customer service. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. They are rude and do not care about their customers. For a salon with such high prices, I expect far, far better treatment. They are not doctors who have life-saving surgeries to perform, yet they cannot be bothered to take the time to ensure customer satisfaction. The first time I went, I left hating my hair- the cut and the color- because the stylist did not do AT ALL what I asked for. The second time, my appointment was cancelled after I called to say I was running late.

I will never go back and would discourage anyone from giving them business. There are much, much better salons in the area who are friendly, respectful, and do a far better job.

The staff at the Washington Rd location needs to lose the attitude. Received the worst manicure I've ever had today. My nails are still smudging after I had them redone by the nail tech once already, and now, I will redo them myself.

visited the waterdam location for an eyebrow wax and highlights .. never been here before. the girl was nice but as she was waxing my eyebrows she kept telling me about aveda skincare products and all the makeup they sell and how i should purchase them and try them and wouldnt stop!! in the end she was pushy. then i got my hair highlighted and at first i really loved them they turned out awesome. i then washed my hair 3 days later and they immediately started to fade! the next time i washed my hair they even faded more!!! between my highlights that faded within 2 washes and the pushy waxer i wont be returning!

I had a wonderful experience at La Pomponnee! As soon as I walked in the door, the staff was very friendly and personable. They gave me great individualized attention and made me feel very comfortable. I got a bikini wax, and Jayne did a fantastic job! She was very quick and even explained proper skin care between appointments. I would definitely go back and recommend La Pomponnee to anyone! There is also a parking garage right next door, which was very convenient. Hands down, a great spa experience.

Pros: Great personalized service and relaxing atmosphere

I have had wonderful massages at the Waterdam location. I had previously gotten my haircut at high end salons downtown and in Shadyside, and Jessica is even better than them! To make matters even better, I now pay only about 50% of what I used to for a cut. Color prices compare to downtown, but overall, still a great experience.

I received a special gift for my b-day and a suprise pedicure. The lady who took us to the waiting room was rude and did not offer my daughter a drink just me. She was very cold and snotty. The woman who did the pedi was very sweet, but couldn't do a pedi to save her life. They did not clean under the nails, did not paint all of the nail, did rush me through parts of the pedi and only was really good at the massage and she got my child a drink. My foot was cracking and peeling the next day. I am in the field so I didn't want to cause any problems. However, this lady called to see how it was for first time clients. I told her how unhappy I was and she said well we just wanted to see so when their reviews come up this will be mentioned. She never tried to rectify the situation and in my salon we would never let someone leave or hear that they were unhappy and let them leave. Oh and the looks that you get from the snobby staff was not worth it either. Go see Mark downtown at Macy's for $40.00 and you will get the best pedi ever.

I had the same experience as "KittyBart", who posted a few posts down the page. I got a gift certificate for my bridal shower, and thought I would go get a manicure. When I called about making an appointment sometime in the next couple of weeks, I got laughed at and said it would be at least a month wait. The woman on the phone was so condescending and rude! Needless to say, I didn't make an appointment. If that's what their first impression is on the phone, I don't need to be insulted in person! Unfortunately, now I am stuck with a $75.00 gift certificate.

My boyfriend got me a gift certificate for my birthday & I was just able to go to La Pomponnee today (9/12/08). It was great! Heather O. was my masseuse & she was so kind & a great at what she does. I received a 1/2 hour Swedish massage, but I had a lot of knots in my upper back (shoulder-area) and my neck. She added more pressure that those areas to help me & make my experience worth the visit. I will definitely be back, and for an hour massage next time! I?m trying to convince my boyfriend to get a cupple?s massage with me!

I went as a member of a bridal party and we all booked together. Everyone (about 10 of us) hated our hair becuase we received styles we couldve twisted up ourselves with a few bobby pins, not to mention out of the 20 some updo's ive received in my lifetime (im early 20's by the way) this was the worst and most expensive. They took longer than expected so I opted to get my makeup done there too to save time while others still were getting theyre hair done by girls that must have just graduated from beauty tech school. The lady who did my makeup claimed I had an underlying pimple (I have clear skin and had no idea what she saw) and started to squeeze and dig at my chin which was invasive and aqward, finally leaving me with a big red painful lump to show up in all pictures on the big day!!! I was furious! I wanted my makeup dont not my pores squeezed! When she finally gave me the mirror it looked like I had no makeup on and she said they apply the natural look because they like it better despite everything I specified when she was putting it on. I redid my face 100% after leaving so about $50 down the drain (they didnt care that I wasnt satisfied so I had to pay). After being pressured beyond belief to buy their makeup (and they make you feel horrible if you dont) we all left over $250 poorer (just hair and makeup!) and in horrible moods putting a damper on the day a bit and making the bride feel horrible. Dont let them get your hard earned money out of you! they dont know what theyre doing!!!

This past Friday I visited La Pomponnee for a spa day thanks to my wonderful husband. I received a massage, facial, and had my hair colored and cut. I have visited many spa in my lifetime and La Pomponnee is definitely one of the better ones. I see people leaving comments about La Pomponnee being overpriced and snotty, however I felt that the prices were actually very reasonable compared to other salons and spas in the area and the staff was overly gracious and accomodating. Obviously those people have never been to a spa in NYC or LA. I had a massage with Katie that was absolutely amazing. I like deep tissue massages and was impressed with the strength Katie had for being such a petite girl. After my facial I relaxed in the spa waiting area sipping a glass of wine. I then had a facial with Annie that was so relaxing, I fell asleep!!! I then had my hair done with Erin who did a wonderful job. I went to work that following Monday and got so many compliments from my co-workers. I am highly recommending La Pomponnee to all of my friends and will continue to be a client.

If you want snotty and rude (which some people in the area love, it seems) then go here. If you want down-to-earth stylists who will work for you not ignore you while charging outrageous sums, go to Alberta Modern Hair - it's just down the street and a much better value.

The staff that performs the waxing is very professional and thorough, however, I have never had such horrible hair cut experiences. The stylist could see that I had very curly hair. She began straightening it with a flat iron and then proceeded to cut. Since it was flat ironed, it looked great. However, once I washed my hair and let it dry naturally, I realized that the hairstylist gave my a cut for a straight-haired person. My hair looked like a lopsided grown-out mullet! When I went back and asked them to fix it, the hairstylist put even more layers on the top. I told her that she should not be cutting off the top, but the bottom instead. She disagreed, stating her experience with curly hair....Excuse me- but I have over 30 years handling my curly hair and knowing what works and she came across as knowing more than I, in this instance????? Needless to say, she really perfected the mullet the other hairstylist started. I had to go to another stylist who ended up having to cut four inches off from the bottom, in order to get rid of the "mullet"!

This is a bright, modern, gorgeous, clean, inviting salon. They give you beautiful, soft robes and disposable flip flops for your massage. Yes, some of the staff in front seem a little stuck up and could definitely be nicer, however, if you can get past that, the actual salon staff are really wonderful and really know what they are doing. Annie, the facialist, is really sweet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I recently visited the La Pomponne in McMurray and they made me feel like royalty. From the moment I scheduled the appointment, I fell in love with the staff at La Pomponne. They even called me the day before my appointment to confirm my time and make sure I knew how to get there. When I walked in the door they took my coat, poured me a glass of wine, and offered me a robe to wear during my color service to avoid any color getting on my clothes. During my services, the customer service staff was constantly checking on me to make sure I didn't need anything. At the time of my appointment they only had a "junior" stylist available and I must admit I was nervous. But she did an amazing job on my hair and was very knowledgeable. She gave me many great tips for styling my hair at home and even gave me a few samples of products to try at home. Upon checking out I found the customer service staff to be very friendly and they helped me get my next appointment scheduled. I love La Pomponnee and would recommend it to all of my friends.

Beautiful hair color, but the stylist "forgot" to tell me that they charge for highlights, lowlights, and conditioning treatments- my bill was over 200.00 ( after the cut, too) and then I had to tip the three extra people that finished my blowdry, massaged my hands and washed my hair!
I liked the color and cut, but I did not get any special treatment for spending so much money.....don't forget the parking fee in the garage, too!

I recvd. hair color and a cut at La Pomponnee last year. The appointment lasted more than an hour longer than any similar experience at other high end salons. Following the visit my hair color initially looked beautiful. However, by the end of the FIRST day I had the hair color on my shirt and even the headrest of my car. This color issue continued the next day when I had the color all over my pillow. I contacted the salon by phone multiple times and was never given a complete response. I continued to attempt to contact the owner/manager of the salon but was never successful. The person I did reach explained that hair color does fade quickly and that I should use a color safe shampoo. I informed this individual that I purchase Aveda color safe shampoo upon leaving the salon and did not wash my hair for 3 days following the color treatment. The first 5 washes (with color safe shampoo) left massive amounts of color in the tub. I essenitally had no evidence of hair color after 10 days and many of my pillow cases and clothing items were ruined (thankfully I was able to use leather cleaner to remove the residue from my car headrest). I wrote a letter to the manager and NEVER received a response. Although the hair cut was a nice basic hair cut and the color initally look fantastic the complete lack of customer service is inexcusable. I would not recmd. La Pomponnee based upon this experience. Following 5 phone calls and a letter I would have expected some type of attempt to satisfy me, THE CUSTOMER. I am no stranger to hair color so this was not a result of my own error. The color was an espresso overall with brown red hilights. I know that red is the hardest color to maintain, but the color leaving my hair was primarily the espresso brown. The red was no longer visible following the first wash the brown by the end of 10 days.

I just recently moved to Pittsburgh and was very stressed out and my husband got me a gift certificate to la pomponnee. What a wonderful place! I had the best massage ever. I felt totally relaxed and stress free when I left. I even picked up a couple of products and booked another appointment for a massage as well as for a haircut. love this place!

LaPomponnee is a beautiful salon and spa. The staff is extremely well trained. I had my hair cut and colored and the stylist listened to all of my ideas and concerns and together we chose a new look that was perfect for me. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone desiring a change.

I'm a spa junkie and have found this place to be too chaotic and unorganized!!! I've been there on more than one occasion so it wasn't a one time occurrence. I've experienced problems with scheduling and no apology for their mistake... had a facial where they didn't even turn on the light to look at my skin!?!... how can you determine what kind of facial a person needs?... had my arch done and there were two other employees in the room talking to the girl doing my arch!!! Gossip during your break!?! They need to get it together before I ever return... probably will never happen because they're too arrogant.

Pros: Set in lovely Mt. Lebanon!

Cons: Need to learn that the customer is always right... offer an incentive when there is a mistake!

I called to schedule a manicure / pedicure about a week in advance. When I asked for availability, the receptionist proceed to laugh at me and say, " That would be very difficult." I said, " So you do or do not have openings." She again laughed and said, " Ma'am, we're very busy and you have to book nail services three weeks in advance." She did not offer to book me for a future date, but basically just continued to laugh at my obvious stupidity. I will never know how good the salon is, but if you like to be treated with respect and feel a good first impression is important, don't call La Pomponnee.

I had been going to La Pompanneethere for 3 years for haircuts and different spa treatments (waxing, massages). I have since stopped going because my last three hair appointments, I waited 1 to 1 1/2 hours past my scheduled appointment before they finally took me back for my shampoo. The final straw was when I schedule a bikini wax for the day before I left for vacation. They called me at 10:45 AM (my appt was at 11 AM) to tell me they screwed up the schedule and the person who does waxing is not there. They had no backup, they didn't apologize and just wanted to know if I wanted to reschedule. My advice, don't bother. There are plenty of other good salons and spas in Pittsburgh

LaPomponnee is truly the best experience. The staff is friendly and educated, the list of services is extensive, the atmosphere is relaxing. As I read the other reviews I can't help but notice that the complaints are unfounded. When you get an updo for a wedding you are not suppose to wash your hair that day or it will not stay. If you are picky about you hair then schedule a trial run to make sure it is how you like it. When you get your brows waxed the first time the hair will grow back fast, your hair grows in stages and you are not on a "waxing schedule" the waxer can not be responsible for how fast your hair grows! I have years of salon experience and LaPomponnee is ahead of its time and is doing a stellar job. Keep up the good work girls!!!

I went to La Pomponnee after reading the reviews on Citysearh. I needed someone who really did great haircolor, so when I read the review about Elizabeth doing great color, I thought I'd give her a try. I was not disappointed, my color and my cut look gorgous. Elizabeth and the front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. I am a satisfied customer and will continue going to Lapomponnee. I highly recommend the salon and I'm anxious to try some of their other services.

I went to La Pomponne with my cousin's bridal party to get our hairdone on the wedding day. Overall it was a very terrible experience. The bride had requested we do our hair half up and half down so I had asked the woman to do so maybe with some curls here and there. What I got was a sad excuse for a half pony tail, with absolutely no curls and an asymmetrical, patternless bobbypinning job. She didn't even wash my hair before hand. I paid about $70 for essentially a half ponytail and did not want to complain because it was a wedding day and we were of course busy. When we complained to staff afterwards they were ignorant, incompassionate and indifferent to my experience. I had always wanted to get my hair done here because its so fancy, but I will never go back again.

I have been getting massages for 20 years and I have finally found the most perfect massage therapist!!!!! Kate can make me feel so relaxed that you never want to get off her table. The first thing she says is "This is your time, it is all about you!" When she starts your massage she helps you slow your breathing down and you just want to melt! When she has to go for those big knots you feel so relaxed that you don't even flinch. She is just wonderful! I have sent my husband and friends to her and they all fell in love with Kate too. Thank you Lapompane for having someone so wonderful available to the public.

I get my brows and lip waxed every 3 weeks! Best wax job ever! The massages are the best! And the price is very reasonable. The nail services are just OK and a little too expensive for the service.

I go to La Pomponnee for my regular hair color touch ups with Elizabeth. My hair always looks great and I truly get to relax and enjoy the entire experience. After moving to Pittsburgh from L.A. I tried many top name salons in Pittsburgh and did net get the quality work that comes from La Pomponne. I went from clumpy painted on highlights and brassy color to having the beautiful blonde that I had longed for. The staff is so friendly and they always greet me by name. I've had spa services there too and trust me they are top notch. The staff really makes you feel welcome, the other stylists are friendly with you whether you go to them or not. It doesn't have that ego hair dresser feel that you get from other high profile salons, just friendly people who love what they do and do it well.

I was very disappointed with my visit. The staff is not personable at all. I went in for a pedicure, seasalt wrap, eyebrows waxed. The lady who did my wrap in eyebrows did a fair job. The lady who did my pedicure was very rude, she made rude comments and at the end didn't charge me full price (but didn't give me the discount I was looking for) and said "It just wasn't a pedicure"

I went there for a spa manicure with my friend. Although my friend's nails were nice, my french tips were clumpy at one end and super skinny on the other. The polish started comming off the next day. When I went to complain, they refused to even look at my nails, and said " they were confident in their employees". Although I paid an arm and a leg, I was left with hideuos hands!
