Old fashioned food. Homey taste and feel

Only negative is crowded. Dining room and slightly worn feeling

Awesome seafood but the tables are so close together you think you're in a party of 8 when you are only a family of four! The wait is a little long and the prices are real high, but good food comes at a price.

We went here on a tuesday and it got busy fast. You know a place has good food when it fills up on a tuesday. We had the combo platter and every part of it was delicious. I highly recommend Henry's!

My husband took me here for my birthday and we had a wonderful seafood dinner. The turtle soup was wonderful as was the combo seafood platter. Small but quaint atmosphere and very good service

We were heading to the Civic Theater around the corner and thought we'd give Henry's a try.\r
What a treat!\r
It was early in the evening but reservations would have been wise. Lucky for us they found one booth we could use.\r
The kitchen is TINY and behind the bar but the 2 cooks use every inch with a deftness thay belies its size. We were in the booth right across from where the waitresses pick up the food (a portion of the bar) and felt like we had a floor show with our meal.\r
The service was warm and friendly - and very knowledgeable about the dishes.\r
Our meal rocked!\r
My swordfish was perfectly flaky and the lump crab with sauce made it an out of body sensation.\r
Hubby's dish was also amazing and delicious.\r
I wish we'd had room for dessert - but the ample portions nixed that for another time.

Recently came to Henry's for the first time and fell in love with the place! It's a small, quaint restaurant that I imagine fills up pretty quickly on weekends. We went on a Wednesday night when it was not so busy and everyone was very attentive and friendly. Ellie's service was impeccable and the food was out of this world. The crab stuffed mushrooms are some of the best I've ever had. My steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster was heaven. All of the specials sounded fantastic and I can't wait to try more dishes! I will definitley go there again!

Pros: fabulous wait staff, incredible food

Cons: we didn't know where to park!

Atmosphere isn't great and prices are a little hight, but all of the shortcoming are generally overshadowed by the good food. Try Youell's Oyster House, nearby, for a larger seafood selection and nicer amenities.

I was looking for a nice, unpretentious restaurant in Allentown to take my Dad to dinner. I live in center city Philly and eat out a lot, so I can be pretty hard on restaurants. Henry's has great food and a casual atmosphere. The staff was friendly and knowledgable of all of the dishes, happy to answer all of my questions. The preparation was creative without being ""over-the-top"" and the seafood was very fresh. This is the perfect ""dinner and a show"" spot... catch a movie or play at the beautiful old 19th Street Theater and come here for dinner (pre- or post-show). A perfect evening. We'll be back.

Unfortunately, the Owner/Chef made made my mind up to never again visit this restaurant. I've eaten there 5 or 6 times over the last decade, and always went away with some bad experience, whether it was the miserable hostess, old vegetables or the chef. On this last visit, I ordered the mussels with garlic sauce as an appetizer. When it was brought out, only half of them were open. I asked our very friendly waiter if they could be cooked longer so the rest opened (it was a $12 appetizer, btw). My husband, who already knew the short-temper of the chef, told me to watch the waiter approach him. The kitchen is out in the open where everyone can watch their food cook, so imagine my amazement as I heard the chef yell at the waiter something about it's done by weight, and that is what I get. The salad bar is never fresh, their side vegies are hideous (warmish canned corn!) and their desserts are a slight step above Entenmann's. Too bad - the entrees really are delicious, but everything else about the restaurant sucks.

The best restaurant in northeast Pennsylvania, no better food anywhere !!!!

I have tried alot of different items and everything was great. The chef/owner is truely a marvel --- the food is the freshest, and of the best quailty. If this restaurant was in NYC , they would be getting national awards every year. Treat yourself and go there.
