Pros: Lunch Buffet

Cons: Inconsistent Food

.

Ordered :
- Seekh Kabab appetizer : looked and tasted like the meat had been sitting on the counter for a while (dried up side almost impossible to eat)
- Chicken Tikka Masala : sauce was good (ordered very spicy and got it that way) but chicken morsels were either very tough or very soft.
- Paneer Naan : very good

Overall not a pleasant experience, I won't be back.

food in retaurant is excellant, nice ambiance and courtious waiters. overall service in rstaurant is very good. I have had very bad experience catering food from this place. We had agreed upon price and the kind of food we wanted. Some of the food did not even came. Owner Baldev, thinks he is always right. if he continues like that he will loose business. I talked to several of my friends who have catered food from this place and their response is also the same. they also had similar experiance as mine.

Indian food is good, but Aman's hint on Indonesian/Thai influence makes it great. The owner is very visable, friendly, and helpful. Good prices, stellar naan. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Delicious food, great service, BYOB

Cons: Possibly overlooked because it is in a strip mall

Best Indian Food I have found in the Philly area. Be sure to chat with the owner Dev Singh. He is great! Always makes you feel welcome. The lunch buffet is nice if you go mid day.

Prior to eating at Aman's, I'd never had Indian food before, and looking back on the experience, I couldn't imagine a better introduction.

The owner (I assume he was the owner; the very busy yet still extremely cordial guy rushing around) sat us promptly and our food was out within 10 minutes of us ordering. He happily answered any questions we had about the menu, and explained some of the Indian origins of certain food's names/contents.

The portions were ample, and the prices very reasonable. My girlfriend and I left with take-out containers containing at least half of the portions we were served, and weren't more than $40 lighter-in-wallet (20% tip included) for it.

Important to note as well is that the environment was very calming; The lights were pleasantly dimmed, and the general mood seemed to be one of peace and quiet. Even families with small children seemed quieter than I expected - I think this may have something to do with the wide spacing and high ceilings.

Pros: food, service, price, ambience

Cons: Indian food in general can have a diuretic effect, so be ready for the bathroom afterwards!

Simply put, I LOVE Aman's. The food is perfect and the service is exceptional. I bring my two sons with me (my wife is not fond of Indian food) and we devour the vegetable samosas, exquisite chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. Their red and green thai curry dishes are also unique...very different from what you would get at a Thai restaurant. Delicious naans and mango lassis are also recommended. We prefer our food without cilantro and with all breast meat, and they are always accommodating. Both Daves (the taller one is the owner) are great to chat with and are very welcoming. There was one review that commented on a lack of English, but I've been going to Aman's since they opened and have NEVER had a problem with this.

I have traveled all over the world, including India, and Aman's is my favorite Indian restaurant and one of my favorite restaurants of any cuisine. I live 40 minutes away and go there at least a couple of time per month. In fact, I'm craving it right now!

I've never had a bad meal here, whether ordering off the menu in the evenings or indulging in the fantastic lunch buffet. My co-workers and I often come here for special celebrations. At lunch you can get in and out quickly, and the food is so good. The buffet always includes a soup, a few choices of appetizers, and several entrees, as well as an extensive selection of condiments, a few salad fixings, and usually some kheer (rice pudding) and gulab jaman (milk balls) for dessert. The choices change all the time. Amans has some of the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had, and I could stuff myself on their naan.

Mostly been for dinner, but even the lunch buffet is done with care, lots of choices and each flavored differently and well, veggies not cooked into mush. Don't miss the mulligatawny. Better than average selection of vegetarian dishes. Heat level in medium matches "hot hot" at most suburban restuarants. Most patrons typically Indian when I've been there. Prices about average, food way above. Mango lassi was the only disappointment - ok but not wow like the rest of the food. Very welcoming to families with kids. We drive from Lansdale, leaving Sultan and Greater India in our rear view mirror...

Great place and very authentic - whether the lunch buffet or the dinner sit down the food is out of this world. Have brought native Indian colleagues to dine and they were impressed by the authenticity of the meals.

I consider myself a food lover, I like to try new tastes and culinary experiences. I was a recent devotee to Indian cuisine and had tried several places and "liked" it but wasn't wowed, I still prefered Middle Eastern and Morroccan. My husband and I tired Aman's on a fluke because it was close to my grandmother's house and he had seen it once when out to lunch with work friends. Let me tell you, FABULOUS! We go to the buffet so we can try all the different offerings but so far my favorite is their House Paneer. My little boy loves to go with us, eventhough he's a picky eater, for the na'an and the basmati rice. My baby girl LOVES the gajerela. In fact while I was pregnant with her I CRAVED Aman's Cholle (similar to Chana Masala).

I love Aman's and recommend it to anyone who loves Indian Food.

Ok, so I am Indian or a "Desi" and I love this place. Usually if you go to an Indian restaurant and there are lots of Indians there as well, it is a good bet. The food is amazing and made to order. This is a great place to take someone who is unsure of Indian food because they will fall in love with it! I have taken may friends there, and I have had only positive feed back. They do great take-out and cater well to groups, large and small.
It is BYOB so if you enjoy some wine or beer with dinner please bring it, but I usually end up getting a Lassi, a yogurt based drink that works well with spicy food. I highly recommend the Manchurian Gobi, one of my favorite appetizers. And as for main dishes try the Paneer Makhani with some Kashmir Naan (bread with nuts and raisins in it..mmmm)
I disagree with the previous reviewer, the owner Dave, is friendly to ALL patrons, and usually makes and effort to say hello to everyone. Of course he is going to converse with regulars more so then people he does not know as well, I would do the same. I like the fact that he takes suggestions from the patrons!
The rest of the staff is great as well, it is one of the restaurants I frequent that has NEVER turned in a bad performance. Overall I say if you havent been here, you are missing out!

I have been to this reataurant several times since 2003. Nice food. Only negative point with Aman is the owner`s behavior. I observed this in all my visits. Aman`s owner chats with everyone at their tables but never comes to the table and chat with Desis.

Just moved here from Los Angeles and friends told us about this place, you may never find it from the road because it's buried in a shopping strip. Anyway, its a must, read on..

First, I never was big Indian food person, but my wife is so of course we needed to find a good place. The restaurant is loacted in a strip mall, and inside is notheing special. It's small, clean and plain. Service is excellent. Food comes quickly.

As for the food, it is so flavorful and tasty. The ower, Aman, is a vegitarian so there are a whole slew of great veggies dishes. Also, the Chicken cabobs rock! If you want try a little of everything (and you will, after your first visit) go for Saturday lunch - its a buffet with a little of almost everything on the menu!

A great place to eat with a date or even after work with co-workers. It's BYOB - good beer taste great with the spices of India. Also, Aman often comes to your table and chats a while, great touch!

I have recommended this restaurant to all of my friends and family. My boyfriend and I googled restaurants in the Conshohocken area to see if we could find an Indian restaurant nearby, and the only critique of this place was that it was located too far away from one of the reviewer's. This restaurant is really worth the drive if you're not from the area; this is the best Indian restaurant we have been to out of many restaurants in several cities along the Northeast coast. The food is excellent and the staff are very attentive, particularly to your sensitivity to spice. The prices are very affordable. Also, the layout of the restaurant is nice as well- it can easily accomodate a large group, but if you come in a smaller party, the noise level is very low. Some other restaurants we've gone to have great food but you can't hear a thing because of the acoustics and layout. Altogether a great place to have a relaxing and enjoyable meal.

We are total foodies, and this is the best Indian cuisine outside of India! The food is fresh, authentic, and when you ask for MILD they understand what MILD means! We only wish they were not 45 minutes away from our house! Thank you Amans for the best Indian food in the area.

Go to Aman's for fabulous Indian Cuisine! The staff is always courteous and when ask their recommendations have never been wrong. They will let you sit and enjoy a leisure meal and a bottle of wine without making you feel uncomfortable. My friend and I usually spend 3 hours eating & visiting. Also, don't leave without trying the Masala Tea...they make it there and I believe there are like 30 spices in it...it is wonderful! I am now back in Houston but miss my Saturday nights at Aman's.

Still the best Indian cuisine around. Visited Kujarahoo last week...hands down my friends who are vegetarians gave Amans a better rating than Kujurahoo. They loved the fact that they could order anything from the chicken, lamb and shrimp menu and it would be substituted with vegetarian version using soy protein. The owner was busy and I mentioned about him not talking to desis, I am one and had no problem with him. His comment was that he has many regulars who come very frequently and sometimes he just do not have time and is rushing around.
His manager Dave was more blunt. "Desi want service and many never tip or leave a miser tip". He showed me several checks with desi names and I was flabbered that at least 6 out of 10 left a 3% tip. What a shame.
The restaurant was superb. Leave at least a 15% tip DESIS'S.........And for the buffet at least a $1 per person, remember they still fill your glasses and fill the buffet and take away your dirty plates.

I have lived in this area nearly 10 years and have been to Jaipur ( my score 7.5), Taste Of India (8.5)' Himalaya (6.7), Greater India (7.6) and the one in Manayunk (6.5). I read all your reviews and decided to pay a visit to Aman's. I gave it a 9 when I first visited and thought thats a one off. Brought a vegan and a vegetarian and me a carnivour a second time and we have been back at least 3 times, and guys thank you, I love this place. Though the service was slightly slow when it got busy the food was never made to suffer. The Indian restaurant's in University are so so, and I rarely venture out unless absolutely necessary, Amans has brought out my faith in genuine Indian stuff. Khujarahoo (9.3) look out, Aman's a fairly new place has the goods to deliver and prices to match (xcelent value for money) and in my opinion one of the best I have had. I spent last Sat at the buffet...................go check yourself I was stuffed.
P.S The buffet is yyuummyy (9.5) but go early.

I can't say enough about Aman's; food is some of the best I've ever had (and I've eaten many types of food all over the world), the service is outstanding, the location is easy to get to, the prices are very reasonable, it's BYO (why pay 200% more for a bottle of wine just because it's on a wine list?), it's very clean and is an excellent dining atmosphere.

I started out as a steak-and-potatoes kind of guy, but the vegetarian dishes are so good I usually order them instead of the meat dishes. The naan (breads) are spectacular, and the mongolian gobi (cauliflower baked in sauce) appetizer will make you rethink cauliflower! Best rice I've ever had, period. Also, the menu changes over time; old favorites are always there, but the owner adds new dishes as he develops them, so there's usually something new to try.

Dishes are made spicy to your taste; you can make them bland, mild, hot or very, very hot.

The deserts are great; not too big and an array of tastes you won't get anywhere else.

I could go on for pages, but I'll stop here. You can't go wrong at Aman's; I've brought dozens of my friends and family, and EVERY SINGLE ONE, from foreigners to locals who don't like foreign foods, have raved about the food and the restaurant. You'll absolutely love it!

Delectable.
Absolutely incredible food. Every bite is more succulent than the one before it. You'll want to lick your plate clean. Everything on the menu is good - Amans can do no wrong. Its clean, the staff is totally service-centric and very knowledgable about cuisine they serve. If you do not know what your in the mood for, its true- they'll suggest something by asking a few simple questions- and its a sure thing - it will hit the spot. The owner is most always there and makes the rounds to chit chat and make sure you are completely satisfied. I love this place. GO AND GO OFTEN. Heck, I'm ordering take out right now! Chicken Tikka Masala, Mali Kabobs, Chicken Vindaloo, Saag Paneer, Naan - I get so excited everytime!

This is the best Indian food I've found in the Philadelphia suburbs! The owner and his family are very nice and accomodating. I love this restaurant. I am a vegetarian and every item on the menu can be made vegetarian... Aman offers a full range of mock meats and the naan is delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who knows good indian food!

I recently made it a point to expand my palette and try different cuisine from around the world. I had always been a bit skeptical of Indian cuisine due to the drastic differences in the spices. A co-worker introduced me to Aman and I was pleasantly surprised. The menu has a vast array of choices and if you cannot decide on your own, just ask the owner and he will be more than happy to make a few recommendations based on a few basic questions. Even if you are a person that cannot stomach spicy food, there is something at Aman for you. Outstanding food, exceptional service, pleasing prices.

Pros: Exceptional service, Outstanding food, Pleasing prices

.

This little gem is tucked inside of an unassuming strip mall on Dekalb. Each dish from the chicken makhni to the rogan josh has been tenderly prepared to seduce your palettes! I came here once for dinner and another time for their lunch buffet. I was very surprised to see their large selection of dishes in their buffet (I wasn't expecting this in the suburbs). You MUST try their homemade kulfi! If I'm ever in town again, I would DEFINITELY come here.
