have been a customer for many years. Love the variety of offerings. I do wish that only sterilized pets were allowed. I have seen aggressive, humping males in the park. I advocate responsible pet ownership and unaltered pets are a disaster.

The grounds are well kept, no expense spared. I wish there were more classes other than 3 days a week where some of them are impossible to make...

I do not go to classes in the summer because they have no air conditioning for the dogs and the dogs do not want to train. they all sit down from the humidity. THe huge ceiling fan is no help really. It is humid in there. But overall, the place is great, with attention to details. I wish there were more classes, more trainers!!

Great facility, friendly staff and wonderful experience. My husband and I have taken both of our dogs here for a couple months and have been pleased with their service. We have sent in our Chocolate Lab for "Boot Camp" for a month and have seen a great improvement. I would highly recommend this facility.

I have trained, boarded and have had groomed 8 Labrador Retrievers at Misty Pines since about 1995.

We still go to to school almost every Saturday. My dogs are in the All Level and Advanced classes. We also participate in charity and other events with Misty Pines.

The instructors are exceptional and are open to new ideas and suggestions on what to specifically train for in those classes.

My dogs are titled hunting and field dogs and need things to be done a little bit differently during class. My requests have always been accommodated by the instructors beginning with Puppy class to the Advanced class.

These folks understand that what my crew needs is often not the routine class exercises. Doing something different is A-OK and encouraged.

Obviously, I have supported Misty Pines for going on 20-years now. IF anyone ever got out of line, exhibited an attitude or handled an issue less than courtesly or, most important, in an unprofessional manner, my Labradors would never have stepped a paw in the door again and I would have written a scathing review a long time ago.

I've been in the Pittsburgh retriever world a long time as have many of my friends who train at Misty Pines - not one of us would hesitate a half-second to recommend this training facility to anyone regardless if they were training field dogs, competition dogs or companion dogs.

Jeff and Amy Woods and their staff work tirelessly and are just terrific. They have earned an A+++ in my book.

Misty Pines does more accidently for their clients and charties than others do on purpose. These folks just don't pay lip service and talk a good game - they live it.

A more arrogant and rude individual than owner Jeff Wood you will not find. He is quick with sarcastic criticism, yet will not acknowledge or take responsibility for his operation's own carelessness. Twice my dog has come back from his stay at Msty Pines with Kennel Cough despite having had the vacinnation two weeks prior to his stay, Yes, they have nice grounds, but they are over priced for the quality of services they provide. You can do better, trust me!

Beautiful grounds. Great outdoor man-made pond. Again, 3 - 4 months out of the year. Well posted and good rules about dog bullying in the fenced dog park area. However, its on the small side and can get crowded quick. Not necessarily staffed or always monitored. You can report incidents but when a dog park is private and charges for use, there is a reasonable expectation of staff enforcing rules and being on-site while its open. Friends of ours are hunters and have a pure breed bird dog. They sing praises for the bird dog training here. Never used the grooming b/c the wait list was so long to schedule. Overnight boarding can have a very long wait list too. Kennels are walled to about your waist then chain link, noisy, but clean. Something like 60 dog capacity........might be too much chaos for certain breeds. ?? No suites or upgraded kennels available that I found. Friends' dogs seemed completely stressed out after a three night stay. Staff interact professionally with the exception one male that is impatient. Nice retail store geared mostly to the outdoorsmen or hunting crowd. Clean facility. Prices are reasonable but, in my opinion, match the accommodations for overnight boarding. Obedience classes are pushed hard here with people voicing mixed results. Boarders pay for playtime. Its a bit off the beaten path, accessible from I-79, back roads otherwise.

The mandatory $60 puppy orientation is a complete waste of time. It is designed for a person that has never, ever seen a dog let alone owned one. It is laughable (and somewhat insulting) what material they cover, and they drag it out for an hour when it could be reviewed in twenty minutes. This facility is very nice, but their classes could use some variety and depth. Each puppy class is the same as the last, it is redundant and boring for both of us. We work very hard outside of class and my dog already knows the behaviors that they review each and every class. Where is the challenge, variety, and breadth & depth that Misty Pines is supposed to offer? They "strongly suggest" that you buy their "Scruffy Guider" collar, which is nothing more than a glorified martingale collar and another marketing technique to get owners to buy yet another thing from their shop. This class is fine for socialization- which is mainly what we go for. For real in depth training, especially if you plan to go on in competition obedience or rally- you shouldn't even bother.

I have been taking my Dog and Cats to Misty Pines for over 5 + years. I have used them for Day Care, Training, Kennel and grooming and would highly recommend them for any of these services. They are wonderful to work with and I feel like part of the family when I go there. My Dog just loves day care she is so happy and tired when we pick her up. They regularly groom her keeping her looking and smelling great. Their Kennel accomadations are so nice very clean a nice place to take your pet when you are away. I never ever have to worry about them when they are in their care. Thank you Misty Pines for all that you do.

We have been going to Misty Pines since our dog was a puppy and with their wise, experienced guidance have progressed through graduation from Puppy School, to Basic Class and now to the Advanced Class. We routinely use the doggy daycare and are guaranteed of not only a happy, tired dog at the time of pickup, but of also knowing that he is being supervised and cared for during his time at the facility.
The entire staff at Misty Pines are caring, bright, committed people who take their role in helping people to learn how to improve their relationships with and care of their 4-legged friends very seriously. Their approach is an individual one and their knowledge and creativity are notable. I truly wish that I had known of Misty Pines with our first dog as I realize that they could have helped us to work her through many of the fear issues that we did not know how to handle.
Jeff Woods has created a unique place that is welcoming to both dogs and people. The grounds are wonderful to roam for a walk or swim in the pond (DOGS ONLY...I'm not up to swimming there yet! :-), play in the dog park with the agility equipment and other dogs, or learn to take it "easy" or "take a break" in one of the numerous offerings of classes. We have taken lessons with Brett Reynolds, and his patient evaluation of my limited skills and our dog's potential ones have been invaluable. Thanks to his help we can take our dog anywhere-that he is allowed-and know that he will be appropriately behaved. The folks at Misty Pines really know how to train we 2-legged creatures to better work with the 4-legged ones we love so much.
Finally, we travel a good bit and routinely utilize the boarding facilities at Misty Pines. I frequently call to check in and always get a full report of how things are going from Aimee, Rob, Sherry, Nancy or another of the staff members as well as an overview of his "time at camp" when I come to pick our dog up. There are times when I've thought I'd prefer to be the one staying at Misty Pines and send my dog on the trip!! Knowing that they have a well trained and qualified team of people working at their facility definitely puts our minds at ease when we leave our furry kid there to stay. There is a licensend veterinary technician, Kelly, who keeps a close eye on the furry visitors and has been very helpful in answering any health related questions that come up from time to time with our dog. Her First Aid class has been very helpful to us in knowing how to better handle some of the "incidents" that arise from time to time.
I would and have highly recommended Misty Pines Dog Park to any and many. The variety of opportunities for learning that are always available there are most impressive. The people there really care about the dogs AND the people and this is evident in the way that the facility and grounds are meticulously maintained and in the overall attention to detail! Congratulations Jeff, Aimee, Brett et al on creating a unique HAPPY PLACE for anyone who is fortunate enough to find you and thank you for your efforts to improve the number of well trained, well balanced dogs in the Pittsburgh area.

I have 2 high energy, strong dogs that I don't think I could physically handle without the guidance of Misty Pines. The training is exceptional, not only for the dogs but for owners as well. I use their doggy daycare many times a month while at work and it is a comforting feeling knowing that you're dogs are taken care of. They LOVE going - I just need to ask if they want to go play and their nubs start wagging. I don't hesitate to board my dogs there also. The staff is great from the trainers, groomers to the front desk. They have all gotten to know me and my 2 dogs which leaves me with peace of mind while leaving them there. I have never had a negative experience. We've used the play yard, trails and numerous training classes. 10+ for Misty Pines!

We have been taking our high energy Airedale to Misty PInes for over 3 years. We utilize their obedience training, grooming, kennels and doggie daycare.

The staff at MP is exceptional! They are very friendly, very accommodating and truly care about our dog. We have never had a negative experience. The staff is very reliable about caring for our dog when we are away or when she is at doggie daycare. They have come to know her and us very quickly. The prices are reasonable and you can't put a dollar value on piece of mind when you leave your pet in the care of someone else. Misty Pines is that place.

I have taken my dogs to Misty Pines since 1983. We started with boarding, went through training and now use day care on a regular basis. When I tell my two labs that they are going to "Misty Pines" for the day they start jumping up in the air with joy. The love it and I know that my dogs are well cared for. Good people and a great facility. After a day of playing at Misty Pines my labs sleep for days and we're all happy.

I have been to Misty several times in the past year to use their facilities as exercise for my lab. As a long time dog owner I have had many experiences with a wide variety of dog parks and Misty has delivered the best for my use. it has plenty to accommodate all breeds and sizes. What I found most enjoyable was the fact was that every owner I encounter was responsible. I did not encounter any over Aggressive owners or dogs.

I have been taking my dog to Misty Pines for about 4 years for day care and overnight boarding. The people are wonderful and really enjoy working with the animals. I highly recommend Misty Pines to anyone looking for a clean, caring and safe day care and/or overnight boarding.

My experiences with Misty Pines and the staff have always been favorable and they also receive a 'bark' of approval from my best friend.

We have used Misty Pines for day care 2-3 times a week, weekend boarding, grooming, and one-on-one training over the past four years for our 9 yr old male golden retriever. We have nothing but raves for the facility and the staff. The dog park and pond are great places to socialize during the summer and there are extended summer hours to take advantage of the extra daylight. Our dog certainly enjoys his stay since he is all tuckered out after a day at Misty.

Aimee, the operations manager, is a consumate professional, always greeting customers, both new and old, with a smile and great advice.

I have been using Misty Pines dog park for about 8 Months now. I have a 10 Month Old Great Dane Puppy and she absolutely enjoys going there. When we turn in she starts to paw at the door to go play. I have had interactions with just about all the staff and they fawn over her and they know us by name. I actually used Brett for their "Puppy Bootcamp" because as she got older she was getting a little rebelious and I could not be more happy with the results of that 2 week boot camp. I have never had a bad experience here in any service I've used them for. The only thing I would like to see is longer day care hours, and a frequent customer program for discounted rates for frequent services used.

The staff has always been accomidating and helpful with any questions or concerns, and though they are very concerned about the dogs medical records that is to protect my dog and actually in the long run may save me money from unecessary vet bills because of an owner that does not properly care for their dogs.

I have to agree with the comments of Bobby Z. and back them up regarding the negative comments here and one thing to look at. Is that their ratings woudl be much higher if the one Show dog owner hadent posted 3 or 4 times. If find it odd that a show dog owner would take their pet to a public grooming facility since the handlers usually do the grooming, but thats besides the point.

A+ for me.

I have to say, I have been taking my dog to Misty Pines for about three years and have been impressed from day one!

The first time I drove up to the facility I couldn't believe a place like this existed for dogs. It has a huge training building with tons of agility obstacles and loads of distractions that are used during classes. Regarding previous comments: the instructors wear headsets so their hands are free to help us with our dogs. It's kinda hard to work a dog while holding a microphone in your hand, and it's also kinda hard to shout so everyone can hear when you're in a room the size of a high school basketball stadium.

It also has a lot of trails through the woods where you can go walking with your dog. It's not fenced in, but you can go on a leash. After some classes my dogs are great on a leash so that isn't too much of a problem. Their fenced in area is about an acre with a 4 foot high fence. I can understand that some dogs can jump a 4 foot fence, I know my dog can, but it's up to the owners to be in control of their dogs and train them not to jump fences.

I've also used them for grooming and kenneling. My dogs and my cat have stayed there and they have all done fine. The staff was very polite when I called, almost daily, to check on my "kids." I only got a shampoo, nail cut and foot trim for my dog, so I don't know how their "full" grooming is, but she sure smelled better when I picked her up than when I dropped her off.

I love being able to go to one place and take care of everything!

Oh yeah, they also sell toys and treats and stuff so you can take care of that while you're there also.

I took my puppy to the puppy classes and was pleased with the prices for the classes, the program as well as the instructors. I found the staff to be friendly and willing to answer my questions about my puppy training. There is a charge for their fenced dog park which is spacous and had some agility obstacles. But, if you were taking a class that day you were permitted to use the dog park before and after the class without charge.

I recently relocated to PGH from Atlanta, and had to board my Jack Russell for almost 2 weeks while we were moving into our new home. I took a tour of the facility and was impressed by the cleanliness and size. The play areas are big and kennels have outdoor/(heated)indoor areas, which was important to me because it was winter. I did have to pay additional for my dog to get playtime when I was boarding him, which I thought was odd. In my previous experiences in Atlanta with dog care, kenneled dogs are allowed to play with the ""doggie daycare"" dogs. Now that it is warmer here, the grounds are wonderful to walk my dog. We especially enjoy the pond and the play areas are also fun with the obstacles and tunnels.

Mr. Jeff Wood and his staff are unreliable and do not accept responsibilty for their actions. We scheduled our female show dog for grooming at Misty Pines. The staff had been informed multiple times that our female was in heat and was to be isolated. They agreed to this. We had even asked for them to kennel her when she was not being groomed. We offered to stay with our dog until she was groomed, and then take her home. We were told that this was not policy. The day of her appointment, a careless staff member placed our female in the open play yard with an intact male. Exactly 60 days later, we had an unplanned litter of half-breed puppies. We have requested that Misty Pines reimburse us for the cost associated with the litter. Mr. Woods has refused ( however, he doesn't deny that the event took place. we have dna proof) This is blatant irresponsibility and lack of safe-keeping of a pet entrusted to their care. DON'T LEAVE YOUR PET AT THIS FACILITY!!1 Try English Acres - a wonderful enviroment, and extremely dedicated owners.
