Obviously, you should visit if you're in Phila. It's packed full of history and there's plenty to read.

However, my experience was ruined by some very rude security guards.

I was in line to see the bell and I was behind a dozen Japanese tourists. The guards were instructing these folks to remove their bags from their shoulders so they could check them at the security point. Of course, there was a bit of a language barrier.

Eventually, there were some jerks yelling at confused tourists and then mocking their language.

I spoke up, but nobody seemed to care that that was very rude.

I'd go back...but just for the chance to stand up again for our foreign visitors.

The National Liberty museum is building that houses the liberty bell. They have tours throughout the day. But you do require to get a pass beforehand. You can see the bell along with the history that surrounded it. They have a good gift shop right next door so you can pick up your trinkets. Its great part of history and fun place to visit.

When you go to see the Liberty Bell, on Independance Mall, your third priority is to check out the National Liberty Museum. $5 admission for adults. Has a big display of modern glass art. And other "freedom" related art. Of course, a big gift shop. Get your red, white and blue decor here! No fee to see the shop :-)

First priority, take a photo and TOUCH the Liberty Bell.

Next priority, is to check out THE Independance Hall, where the original Declaration of Independance was signed. Well preserved. Lots of period furniture. Helpful tour guides. http://www.nps.gov/inde/
