My family and I went there on a tuesday night at 7pm. We had been sightseeing in the lancaster area and according to the reviews online this was a good place to sit down and have a good meal. we walked in and were sat immediately. we were the only customers in the resturant and were told by the waitress that they close at 8pm. I ordered the fried chicken, my husband had french toast and eggs, my mother in law had eggs and bacon and my kids had grilled cheese and spaghetti. the waitress seemed to be in no hurry to get our drink or food order but that was ok. When i ordered the chicken she told me it would be a ten minute wait for the chicken and i told her ok and she brought out some dinner rolls for us and the kids which was great. our food came out and this is where my only complaint lies. Everyone else's food was fine but my chicken was still pink in the middle. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said that it was normal for it to look like that. Now i am a waitress and another resturant that serves fried chicken and i know that its not supposed to be pink like that but i didn't say anything else i just ate my vegetables and smiled. when she came to drop the bill her whole attitude had changed towards me and she actually rolled her eyes at me. She asked me why i didnt eat my chicken and i told her i didn't feel comfortable with it still being pink. She rolled her eyes, dropped the check, and walked away. Didn't ask me if i needed anything or if i wanted something else. At this point we just paid and left and i was really upset that i had to pay for chicken i didn't eat because it was still raw in the middle. the only reason i am giving this place three stars is because everyone else's food was good. I personally might never go back and if i do i will not order the Chicken.

Ordered the cream of potato soup which should have been called cream of corn starch soup. It was glumpy and tasteless. Also ordered an oyster sandwich. I expected breaded oysters (which I got) but they were presented on a plate with white bread that was slathered with butter (all pieces) and iceburg lettuce. Quite unusual. I ate the oysters and left everything else. Coffee was acceptable and the service was good however the waitress said nothing to me even after it was apparent that I did not like the food.

Our last visit to Alice's wasn't very good. The waitress left our dinner sit on the counter for five minutes before serving the food. Unfortunately the food had cooled too much and wasn't edible. The staff tried to blame it on one large table of patrons who she was also serving (her only other table which totaled 7 people). But honestly, it comes down to priority. Today's visit was just about bad service. She chose to walk past our food on four occasions without an effort to serve the food while it was still hot.

People shopping along Lincoln Highway East may want to stop in for the relaxing atmosphere of Alice's Restaurant. Great breakfasts. Very friendly staff. The owners have a short history of the restaurant on the menu. It is an interesting read. Lots of people in the morning seem to know each other and are probably regulars.

PROS: super friendly
CONS: cannot think of any
