This place is not very good when it comes to dog adoptions. They are rude! I believe that if you are wanting to adopt a dog, they should let you visit with a dog even if it is on hold. It is insane to hold a dog for 3 to 4 days for someone else just so they can bring another dog in that they own to see if the dogs get along.
It should not be this way. This turns away great people that want to adopt a dog.

My last 3 dogs and 2 cats came from wphs and they are the most wonderful pets.
MY ANIMALS CAME WITH VACCINATIONS, DE-WORMING , SPAY AND NEUTER AND MICROCHIPPING.

THERE IS A VET OFF OF MCKNIGHT IN THE NORTH HILLS THAT IS CHARGING $450 FOR SPAYS, $49 FOR OFFICE VISITS AND $67 FOR A MICROCHIP WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS WHEN THIS SHELTER IS CHARGING SO MUCH LESS FOR THE SAME THING.

I GAVE THEM A $100 DONATION TO THE WPHS WHEN I LEFT BECAUSE MY ANIMALS ADOPTED FROM THEM ARE THE BEST EVER

Whenever you think the fee is too much too adopt, think again. The cost of private vet care far exceeds the cost that the shelters charge for care, spay/neuter, and to vaccinate/immunize. Potential adopters need to be able to provide adequate housing, food, and vet care. If you think $200 is too much now, you won't want to pay a full vet bill in the future.

These is place is so ridiculously expensive - I bought a dog from a breeder.
My initial intent was to adopt an animal, you know, to help out. Then they told me it would be $200.00! I remember as a kid going to the "pound" and getting dogs for $25.00! And I am only 29 so that was not in 1940.
And I do not require "mandatory obedience classes". I have trained 2 hunting dogs and actually attended classes for my Jack Russell (which I think may have been better trained then me).

We adopted both of our fur babies from the Humane Society and would recommend this place to anyone. Our dogs were thoroughly checked and were healthy and well adjusted when we got them. They were both spayed before we brought them home, even though that meant we had to leave them a little longer, it was so worth it! Their clinic is a great value and the doctors are exceptional. The kennel staff is also very helpful.

We were fortunate enough to have found a VERY special kitten at this animal shelter. They took excellent care of him before we brought him home. He was neutered immediately. We also received medication to treat his URI.
Very good care.
