Ultra Hair Studio a locally owned business that makes Washington Square West a real neighborhood. A better neighborhood. They are as friendly as can be. They appreciate your business and treat you really well. They're warm and welcoming to every client who walks in. No pretensions. Their dogs are adorable. The salon is charming and creativly decorated.
You're supporting an independent business that sincerely cares about its clients, its staff, and its neighborhood. Love it! They also do great hair at reasonable prices!!!!!!!!

The music at the salon is great. They have a Bose docking station and let the clients share their music too. Ultra plays great music including lots of older punk, and some newer indie stuff, mixed with alternative, old school dance, pop, and techno....Random, good stuff to hear when they're chopping away at your head.
The salon is super clean. The salon's feel is kind of modern high-end salon meets kitschy retro.

All together, a color, cut and blow dry came to $100 which was totally worth it! I feel like a new person...which is good because I just got over an icky breakup and I need a good change.

After seeing reviews left by folks online I decided to give this place a try. I snagged a last minute appointment with Kristen for a haircut and style. She was very sweet and listened to what I had to say. We also had an awesome conversation. Most of all in the end my haircut was wonderful. I really enjoyed and appreciated my whole experience. She seamed very passionate about what she does and it shows in her work.

I always get a great haircut from Sharyn. She has been my stylist for a couple years. She has appointments after work and on Saturdays. This is a good place for men and women.

Nice experience.I went to Ultra last week for color and haircut. Everyone was extremely nice and professional. My hair looks great. Sharyn has been doing the whole office for years and we can tell you, her salon is well run. You won't be disapointed.

My wife sent me in to see Sharyn for an updated look. I never had a cut like this before. Its great and everyone noticed that I got it done.My wife was right- I'm sure she will love reading this! My students at Penn even asked me where I got my hair cut. I'll be back!

have been going here since they opened. You can always count on a great cut or color no matter which stylist you go to because Sharyn trains everyone and it shows. I went to Kristen, a new stylist and she gave me a layered cut with fantastic highlights! My roomate saw my hair when I got home and went to see Kristen and also got a great new cut! Good to have another talented stylist with a FUN personality at Ultra!!! I love this place. I really like how it continues to evolve- better stylists, new decor. Its just a great place to go get your hair done. Not snobby either. Very down to earth.

Sharyn Kelly's Ultra Hair Studio is the best! This woman can cut some hair and never stops moving around her salon. Great energy,
Laid back, chill space. Good tunes, great guys cuts. Good deal!
Location 2 blocks from South St. On street parking!

Well, I waited until I had 3 months worth of services before leaving this review. First , in August,I had a haircut with Sharyn. GREAT! I went back in Sept for highlites. The cut was still growing out well so Sharyn just trimmed my bangs. The color is so believable! Just had a haircut this month and had to share with everyone out there how wonderful this salon is. Consistantly great work, professional, nice atmosphere as well. THANK YOU SHARYN!
