I'll give them their due, they're big, they're cheap, they're EVERYWHERE and they have been making real efforts lately to increase their quality and selection of food and services, so for everyday grocery shopping, they are certainly sufficient... but that's about it. If you're looking for more than basic groceries though (and I know most people aren't, which is why I qualify this review), it's a disappointing shopping experience, to say the least.

In a town with a Whole Foods, a Trader Joe's, and a couple dozen really amazing specialty markets, bakeries and produce stores, I really feel they should be making more of an effort though. It's true that when I need milk and lettuce and frozen dinners, this is my first stop, because it is so VERY convenient, but everything they have is pretty lackluster, and despite the massive size of most of their stores, there are tons of things I eat every day that you just can't buy. Don't go looking for fresh produce, or quality dairy, or bakery products that are more than just average, because you won't find them - take a day and hit up a few of the really wonderful stores around town, trust me, it'll be more than worth the effort.

Giant Eagles area great place to shop, the stores are laid out well which always helps save time. The prices are great and the sales are usually well marked.
