I am a vegetarian and still love this place. Ordering has become a little more diffucult over the years.
Do you want peppers, hard or soft, sauce or not.
Its fun to watch people eat them.
Even from a vegetarian. Hesse steaks should not have green peppers. Either should cheese hoagies.Another thing I forgot exsists is ICY Tea and A treat soda... and in my opinion V & S is better than Tacks.
it always amazes me when people rave about the cheesesteaks from philly. they are typically dry and fatty. V&S, if it moved closer to philly, would be the best sandwich in philly. the cheese is real, the sauce (which you have to get) is great and the meat is always chopped well, with no fat. as far as the guy who talked about the roll making the cheesesteak, he's right. only problem is that v&s has the best rolls around! they're nice and fresh, not some hard stale thing that rips up your mouth. haven't ever had a better cheesesteak!
When I order a Cheese Steak and am asked if I want a hard or soft roll, I become wary. No doubt the sandwich comes overstuffed with steak but the 'hard' roll I asked for was so soggy I asked if they had mistaken a soft but was told I got the hard roll.
I tried this place again a few times and was just amazed at the business they were doing with such mediocre food. Anyone who enjoys a great cheesesteak knows the bread is what makes the sandwich good. If you like cheese steaks, do yourself a favor and find someplace else to buy one.
The hamburgers were thin hockey puck style as well. My boy is a cheeseburger fiend and he didn't finish his.
We did like the fries though.

when we visit Reading, pa. we eat here quite often. the cheese steaks are yummy and so are the cheese twin burgers. they have a nice place to sit and eat or you can take it out. they have flat screen tv`s to enjoy while you are eating. if you are visiting the area, try a bag of Goods chips. they are great.
PROS: good food
CONS: none
