I always thought Newportville Inn was just a bar, but it's not. They also have really good German food. Who knew. The German appetizer sample with bratwurst, onion and apples is awesome. The steaks and crab cakes are excellent too. Prices aren't too bad... $18 for filet mignon AND a crab cake is reasonable to me.

I wouldn't reccomend this place to any one (i like). I recently ate there and was served pork so dry I could barley chew it with saurkraut that tasted like it came out of a can. I was very disapointed as I alwalys look forward to eating german food and was lead to believe this is what was served there. I am german (can you tell from the name) and am actually a little insulted by them calling what I ate german food. Besides that it was expensive, dark, crowded, and I found my chair rather uncomfortable. I won't waste another evening at this place, next time I am craving a german dish I will drive an extra 15 minutes and go to one of the real german restraunts in the city.

Pros: German beer on tap

Cons: lousy food, expensive for what you get, cramped dark atmosphere, parking
