Bought our Hyundai a couple years ago from Cochran--one of those regrettable life decisions! NOT a fan of this car. When we were negotiating over a lousy $500 and they wouldn't budge we should have taken the cue and walked away. We won't ever make this mistake a second time! As for service, we've been to two Hyundai dealerships (Cochran and Bowser). Overall service experience was mediocre, slow, lacked communication. We have a friend who is a mechanic. The only reason we used dealership is for more difficult fixes covered by warranty. I do find it an insult when they try to convince you that your car needs more work than it really does!

I got stranded on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when my vehicle suddenly lost power. Being from the state of Indiana, I found myself at the mercy of #1 (in their minds) Cochran in Monroeville, PA. After a long delay, they announced I needed a new engine (cost, approximately $10,000) and a transmission repair (cost, approximately $3,000). After declining their kind offer, I had my car transported home to Indiana to be inspected by my mechanic. In truth, I didn't need a new engine, but I did require a transmission repair. Less than $1,000 to get it done. It crossed my mind that maybe #1 (in their mind) Cochran might have tried to take advantage of some poor slob who got stranded on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. But that would be too cynical.

I had my car at an independent garage for inspection; they told me there was something wrong w/the bushings, and I should take it to a dealer because it should be covered under my warranty. I immediately called Cochran and they were not able to take my car for another week. I dropped it off Sunday night. Tuesday, by 2PM I had not heard a word, so I called. They said they were still "diagnosing" it but they would get back to me shortly. @ 5:45 I called back because I know they close @ 6PM, because no one called me. They said again they were diagnosing the problem and it would be best for me to leave the car, and they'd have an answer mid-morning on Wednesday. I heard nothing, so at 1:30 PM Wednesday I called. When they guy answered the phone I said "I'm calling to check on my car". Now note that I did not give them my name, nothing. He replied "it's being worked on - your service manager should be calling you shortly." I asked they guy how he could say that when I hadn't told him who I was. He said "well, if your car is here, it's being worked on and there's no reason to call and check - your service manager will call you when the car is ready." How inconvenient! I have had to arrange for rides to work, and I would like an estimate of when the car would be ready so I can arrange for someone to drive me to the dealership to pick it up. Well Wednesday came and went and no one called me. Considering that they promised an answer by mid-morning Tuesday, you'd think they'd have the courtesty to call They've had the car since Monday @ 7AM; I've had ZERO communication from them. At this point no one has even told me whether or not this repair is going to be covered under my 100k/10year warranty. So I don't know ANYTHING. THIS is the reason I don't take my car to the dealer for routine services and inspections. And here it is Thursday, and still NOTHING. No answers, nothing. Horrendous customer service. If I could give zero stars, to match the zero communication from them, I would.

DO NOT GO HERE! This place sucks. i brought my hyundai sonata in to get new belts put on and they took all day to do my car! i was told i could make the second half of the day at work.... WRONG... i got my car back and it was making a squiling noise, very loud, they told me that they were booked thru the week to bring it back next week, and this is the same day! i hadnt even left yet!!! so i bitched and complained and they finally took it back in the garage. an hour and a half later they came back out and said the bearings on my pulley were bad. ?????? they were fine before they messed with it. then they told me they would order the parts and would be there in two days, and that they would only charge me for parts?!?!?! WHAT? ok so 10 to 12 days later they got the parts in.... since i complained so much they decided to not charge me. now my car is making worse noises and my oil pressure light comes on and it vibrates bad, they over filled my engine oil (and i didnt ask them to touch the oil, he said it was low so he topped it off), my driver front tire only had 22 psi after the rotation witch caused me to hit a curb and now i have suspension problems, and they wont fix any of it!!!! WWWWTTTTTFFFFF? i paid 500 dollars for there service, i mean for there bullsh*t service. and my car is broke now, it wasnt broke when it went in it was just making a noise that i was told was from the belt. and natrually i can not get a hold of anyone bc they dont answer the phone. when i finally did, the service clerk (greg) was like let me guess, this is mr perry. wtf, as*hole. they suck... i have filled a complaint with bbb also. just dont go there, that is if you would like to have a car that works afterwards. I am so outraged with the service, the customer service, and they way they make hyundai look. This effects the whole hyundai name. My uncle owns a hyundai dealership in texas, among alot of others and he is recognized as a world class service center. This is absolutley unexceptable as we NEED transportation every day! The work is half asked and they just show that they really dont give a damn about the customers. i will post again if the matter is taken care of, but save yourself and go somewhere else. I will never go back there again, not even for a oil change, or even for them to clean the windows!!!!

I wish I would have checked this out prior to taking my car there. I bought it there and it is in for service today (I am leaking gas). It has been there for over 5 hours and still haven't looked at it. The service department is rude and ill advised on customer service and mechanics of the car. I really like my car but I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN. The anger that I feel at being dismissed is almost a rage. I have a young child with a dr. appt this evening and I don't even know if I will have a car to take her there. they indicate they have 6 mechanics working there well obviously they all don't work because after 5 hours, my car should have been looked at (at the least). Very terrible serive department

I feel fortunate that I read these reviews before going there, I needed a transmission flush but because of these reviews I decided I would just buy the SPIII fluid that hyundai states in all manuals that you must have. Well as I'm standing there waiting for the guy to gather up enough quarts of it one of the mechanics asks me "Why the F*ck am I buying hyundai fluid" seriously just like that. I inform him that is what you have to use or the tranny becomes damaged. "Oh we just use whatever comes in bulk and it certaintly isn't from hyundai" I'm stunned that what I read is so true, these morons don't even know how to treat a customer let alone a hyundai vehicle. I feel bad for anyone that takes a car here, these guys are all about the bottom line, and could care less about your car. On the other hand if ya need fluids or maybe an inexpensive part this could be the place to go if you are close and don't mind standing in a cramped hallway that they call the parts desk. Overall don't ever go here, to buy or service your Hyundai. I'm sure the mechanics won't mind the lack of business, they don't wanna work on your car anyway, trust me I got an opportunity to eavesdrop of some of the conversations between them, and customers are not valued here.

I've used Bowser Hyundai for servicing my Elantra for 5 years, and I was quite happy with their service. Last week my thermostat seized up and my engine overheated, and since Cochran is very close to my house I though it would be easier to get the car repaired there. This was a big mistake. I dropped the car off on a Tuesday, with them saying they were very busy, so they'll try to work on it Wednesday, but if not Wednesday then definitely Thursday morning. I called them back Thursday afternoon, and guess what they didn't get to look at it. But they will definitely look at it first thing on Friday. By Friday at noon I stopped by the shop, when they told me they actually needed to order parts, which will get to them Monday or Tuesday, so my car should be ready by the following Wednesday (this is 8 days without my car, mind you). When I complained about this ridiculous wait for a simple repair, they said that it's because people want to get a lot if inspections done at the end of July (?!?!? why??) and that their mechanics are on vacation, etc, etc. And I am welcome to take my car to a different Hyundai dealer. How nice.
Needless to say, I will never ever bring a car back to that shop.

You know that old show Hee-Haw where Jr. Sample owns Sample Sales at BR-549. Well, that was my experience there, two guys arguing with me about a couple of. dollars . It was just like being in one of those cold looking trailers on the bad part of Rt. 51. This is no exaggeration.

I completely agree with Greg. I have tried on three different occasions to schedule a service appointment with this dealership only to go through 20 rings of the phone until you go to voice mail and then no return calls. This last time I was responding to a flyer that we received in the mail. I assumed --- incorrectly -- that they would be more responsive if they were promoting their service department. Wrong! I am going back to Bowser.

While I like the vehicles I purchased (Santa Fe and Elantra) from this dealership, about the only thing good about getting a service appointment is the 1st one .... after that, you are on your own. I personally can attest to their lack of follow-up - if you get any, at all. I have on numerous occasions attempted to contact their service department only to be left hanging - I equate it to this analogy - "Its like calling the suicide prevention hotline and getting put on hold!"

I have called and the phone rings and rings. Well I complained about it and there was a minor improvement - the Hyundai service department line now goes to voicemail - which might as well not be there either - I have three times left voicemails (most recently 1 week ago) and I have yet to receive a callback.

Considering purchasing a Hyundai - which are very good vehicles - try Bowser or one of the other Hyundai dealerships that has a better service department because #1 Cochran Hyundai of South Hills is not the dealership if you need a readily accessible service department.

I had a nissan sentra 2002 bought from this dealer. It has 3 years varranty. There was a engine noise that bugged me for 3 months, each time I went for service they reported somthing like "customer claims....no prblem has been found"
not recommend for service. The one opened at monrovielle is very good though. they have solved my problem at my first visit. thanks them.
