After reading the previous reviews of NVH that were posted, I felt it necessary to write a response. I have been to NVH for several years now, and it is truly the best veterinary facility in the surrounding area. Although their prices may be a bit expensive, there is a reason - the facility is staffed twenty-four hours a day when there is a sick pet in hospital; they also send out most of their bloodwork, heartworm tests and fecal tests, since, as they explained to me, "new research shows that a lot of the testing done in veterinary offices shows false negatives." Is your pet not worth the few extra dollars to make sure they're healthy?

Norwin Veterinary Hospital is an excellent medical facility. They spend thousands of dollars on diagnostic medical equipment. All of the doctors, particularly Dr. Bendix, are highly engaged in continuing education programs - this is why they do things a lot different than other veterinary hospitals in the area.

I have seen all of the veterinarians there, and they were all extremely caring and understanding. They're all willing to take the time to explain complex medical conditions in laymens' terms. Dr. Bendix has even drawn me pictures to show me what causes certain conditions. I would recommend this hospital more than any other in the area.

I gave it one star because that was as low as the scale goes, but it should be lower! I never left without receiving a bill for less than $200. and that's only because I knew enough about vet medicine to refuse all the unneeded tests recommended by Dr. Davis. She must have a quota to fill or gets a commission for all the testing she wants to have done. Dr. Davis is a terrible diagnostician!!!! I will never return to this practice and wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

I have been a client of Norwin Veterinary Hospital since 1987. Their care for the animals is tops! They want your furry friends to be healthy.

I admit....their costs are a little high. However, they are in line with other vet hospitals

I can not disagree more than the previous reviews of Norwin Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Bendix is a genius when it comes to feline care. He has a "bedside" manner that is second to none. He took my cat on an emergency basis for a Feline Leukemia second opinion. Sadly, she was ill. Very ill. Anemic and near the end. The first vet recommended that we put her down. Dr. Bendix offered to do whatever he could to see if it would work. It did. Now, he says she is the longest living FeLV+ cat that he's ever treated (she just celebrated her 9th birthday in August). He's a real miracle-worker. And, honestly, this vet office doesn't cost any more than other _reputable_ places with decent hours.

This is a review of Norwin Veterinary Clinic.... I had a maltese some years ago... She had a chronic cough... She took pills all the time for the cough... I ran out of the pills and my vet was on vacation.... I went in to get the pills and they said they had to examine my little Tiffany ..... Oh they did... next they claim she had congestive heart failure and was put on lasix and digitalis and I could not bring her home... A few days later and over $1000 they offered to put her to sleep... I went in paid the bill and had to push my way into the kennel and retrieve my dying dog.... I took her to another vet who took a week to try to flush her out with liquids and he did bring her back after a week... He told me to pick her up that since she was put on these heart meds with no heart problems at all it nearly killed her..... I picked her up so happy and on the ride home she jumped up and gave me a kiss and then laid down on my seat and died...... I till this day blame myself for going to that money hungry place who would make up an illness to get more money.... The vet that did save her... if only for a few hours for me to see her.... was willing to go to court after these people..... It is ashame that they cannot be put out of business....... I will never forgive myself for going in that place for a refill of a prescription.....

This veterinary hospital is terrible in terms of their medical treatment and cost. I firmly believe their drive to extract as much money as they can from you leads to their poor choice in medical treatment. To start, I am a doctor with experience in human medicine. So I know a few things about diagnosis, treatment and costs of medications. We took our ailing cat in to be examined for vomitting. They wanted to keep her for observation. One day later at a charge of $1200, they said they were no closer to a diagnosis and wanted to do exploratory surgery for $1000 - $1500 more. The initial charge of $1200 included administration of several medications that were priced at 100 to 1000 times the price for the exact medication used to treat humans. When, we said no to the surgery, the head veterinarian said "lets try a conservative approach and give your cat over the counter famotidine (Pepcid)." Well guess what? It worked. This same conservative approach is what you would try first in treating a human. You don't go right to exploratory surgery for dyspepsia when the patient is not in critical condition without first trying conservative measures. Do not go to this veterinary hospital.
