This place is terrific. The roast Beef is probably the best in the city. A meat-eaters paridise! They run it like a well oiled machine. The service is fast and friendly. The horseradish is wonderfully HOT.

Best roast beef sandwiches in the city. Steam ship roast beef, small bar, in business for 50 years, with the integrity and atmosphere to match. Excellent for happy hour or a nice night out.

We went here after hearing how good it was but I would say it was a little disappointing. It was crowded and when we got there they said they were out of roast beef then 10 minutes later they found some it was ok but skimpy.

I've been going to this little corner bar for years and for years it has been consistently great. This little corner bar has all the nostalgia of the "South Philly Corner Bar" and is just the perfect place for a quick lunch or dinner. Not only is the food great, the beer's cold and it's priced right! I highly recommend this one!.

I believe this location, at 20th & Jackson in south Philly, is the original Nick's Roast Beef. They make an excellent sandwich. Hand-carved roast beef covered in delicious gravy, served on a kaiser roll. Add hot peppers and horseradish to spice things up. Order your sandwich "overboard" for even more gravy. Sandwiches are on the small side - you probably won't be full when you're done with one. At around $5.50 for the [small] sandwich only (nothing comes on the side), it's a tad pricey. The quality, however, is excellent. Recommended.

Pros: great food

Cons: small portions, a little expensive
