I LOVE Koi. The fish is so fresh, the rolls are creative and delicious. I crave Koi about 2-3 times a month and have to order take out or dine in to get my fix. Super White Tuna, Northern Liberties and Tsunami rolls are my favorite. As for appetizers, I recommend the Wasabi Lobster Salad or Salmon Skin Salad.

The servers are very professional and polite and the atmosphere is great on any evening. They are closed on Sundays which is a bummer, (but everyone needs a night off!).

Also, Koi is a byob which we all know is fantastic! They do take credit cards.

Good classic cuisine of Japan and an especially fine array of the freshest sushi. I always order the "Take out Menu" and they deliver!

Order the "Northern Liberty (Shrimp tempura, avocado wit spicy tuna on top, topped with spicy sauce and brown sauce-$10.95) it's very healthy.

Koi's prices are very reasonable.

Koi simply has the best sushi in the city. They have a great variety of food, pleasing the most picky palette. Their service is impeccable and I always have a good time at Koi.

I have traveled around the world many times. This is certainly one of the very best Japanese restaurants outside of Japan. And it would be one of the best in Japan too.

Pros: taste, presentation, service

Cons: interior(fan,ceiling), too bright light

Kissen is a very cool tempura bar with a futuristic interior. Extensive menu of mostly Japanese mixed w/Korean. We sat at the bar and had a very enjoyable meal with prompt sevice (they seem to have rectified earlier complaints). Excellent tempura and very good sushi. The scallion w/scallop soup was delicate and flavorful and the tempura presentations are works of art! I'll second the Uni (sea urchin) tempura - delicious! BYOB now but liquor licence coming soon. This is a great place, I don't think there is anything like it in the city.

My boyfriend and I went there recently to celebrate Valentine's Day. Our table was right next to the door with cold air blowing in. There wasn't any room for us to even pull out the chairs to actually sit down. That's how crammed the tables were to each other. We decided to sit at the sushi bar and waited a long time to order. I think we were there for an eternity, that's how slow the food came out. The food was okay, but not worth the prices and the huge wait. (1.5 hrs. for 4 sushi rolls and a tempura platter!!) I'll stick with Hikaru off of South Street!!
