On Friday 4/29/08, my 18 yo. daughter drove from Lancaster with an 18 yo girlfriend to the Cinderella shoppe to shop for a prom gown. She was rudely greeted by the older sales woman and informed that she could not try on dresses without her mother present. She politely told the sales clerk that she was 18 and her mother was working. The salesperson said that was the store policy and that she could not try on dresses. That is aburd! the ironic thing is that my older daughter bought her dress there 2 years before (without my presence but with a copy of my charge which both of my girls have). this rude shop has lost our business (
and we purchase 3 ballgowns every year for the Assembly). very upleasant staff.

Today, March 25th, i arrived at the Cinderella shoppe... and might i add that i drove from Reading to get there... As soon as a entered the shop i was asked if i was over the age of 18. i replied that, yes, i was 19 years old and in high hopes of purchasing a dress. the woman then told me that she could not allow me to try on ANY dress! Of course i asked why and she had told me that i needed a parent with me. Again i had told her i was 19 and drove out of my way to shop at her store and she still refused to let me try anything on. she pulled this lame excuse that there were pictures surfing the net of girls in changing rooms and what not and that parents were complaining.... come on.... that can happen ANYWHERE!! As far as im concerned im over 18! I AM AN ADULT and can choose whether or not i want to take this risk of exposing myself. Also, when i was there i took a look around and there was only ONE girl with her mother there. I wonder why?! This shop "policy" (if it even really is) is ridiculous. i suppose she lost another customer due to stupidity. i reccomend that no one shops there.

My 18 year old daughter went there today for a formal gown. She was told that she could not try on anything because she needed an adult with her. 18 is a adult in the state of PA. The sales clerk was totally rude. There were 2 gowns my daughter liked. They lost a sale and a bunch of customers because we plan to tell everyone how they discriminate against an 18 year old.

I went to this shop in May of 2006. Now my grandmother told me that i could have what ever dress i wanted for prom...now i live in VA so i had to have it all sized and all the fun stuff...in the end i the dress started out at $250 when it was dont with it was a $537 dress. This lady will be nice to you if you have the money to spend and thats it. The girl in there before me the same size as me said that she had a eating dissorder and that she was TOO SKINNY! well let me tell you did the grandmother of this girl give that women a piece of her mind. Days later a women my grandmother knew said she went in there and the lady told her to leave and come back because she would not have the dress that she would want. So if you have money great. If your young and looking by yourself for a dress shes a nasty women. If you have the money she so nice. She is all in all a nasty women.

I know the owner of this beautiful Botique. I am from CA and we were planning our wedding in VA and drove 2 hours to get my dress. The owner had been out visiting in CA and I showed her a picture of my dress and it was replica of my grandmothers. I gave her my size and she knew right away off of the top of her head that she had it in stock in my size 12.
When i got there she already had the dress set aside pulled it on me. TA DA it was more detailed then my grandmothers but the style was the same. It was what I wanted. I think we spent maybe an hour at the most while there. Paid for the dress and left.

I have read the bad comments from others. I would say it is a place if you know exactly what you are looking for. They know their enventory very well. Very prompt customer service. If you are there to browse you might want to stick with a Davids bridal. The more exact you are they are able to assist you more.

My dress is so beautiful my girls will be able to one day wear it at their wedding.

Their prices were the average of any other dress shop. Of course always depends on cut, style, and beading.

I thought it was great and hope to see the Gerharts have a website very soon to promote the store for online orders.

PROS: They have what you are looking for, for a fast service
CONS: You need to know what you want.

I spent 4 horrible hours at this shop and finally left shaking with tears and rage. I had an appointment but had to wait over an hour.

I had brought a whole book of dresses that I liked including style numbers. I told them I wanted an a line dress with a chapel train, a low neckline either sweetheart, or v neckline.

I'm a size 6-8 with a pretty good figure but the attendant kept talikng about me like I weighed 400 lbs.

She brought dresses that looked nothing like the one's I'd showed her. When I told her I didn't like them she still insisted on putting them on me and making me go out front. Once she even said "I want to show you and your mom how ugly you are in this dress."

Next she pulled a dress over my head that was full of pins and just kept tugging while I protested scratching my back badly. Then she left me standing in the dressing room with the dress half way down over my shoulders. I waited a long time before I pulled a houdini and reached around to pull the pins out (10 of them), got the dress off, got dressed, and found her waiting on a walk-in.

Then the manager got involved. Great, I thought, finally some service. But she started lecturing me on why I should have liked the dresses I didn't and how I was just wearing them wrong if I didn't like them.

The last straw was the first dress I even sort-of-liked. The only problem was that it was too high. I'm very short waisted and I wanted something with just a hint of cleavage. Which is what I told the manager. She replied "I could find you something you'd be falling out of if THAT is what you want" I said no, I didn't want to be a "slutty bride." 'Bend over and shake my hand" she said from 2 feet below me. "I just don't like the dress." "Bend over and shake my hand!!" "That's not the point." "BEND OVER AND SHAKE MY HAND!!!!"

As I got dressed the attendant said "I didn't have a nice day either schlepping dresses to you all day."

PROS: They think they're Vera Wang but treat you like you like you're an idiot
CONS: They shouldn't allowed to stay in business.

I would definitely not recommend this store. Everyone here is very pushy. They only let you try on a few dresses, and they make you PAY for an appointment, as if you're not already paying too much if you buy from there. Definitely steer clear.

The Cinderella Shoppe is a nightmare. The employees are so rude, you feel like you were beat up after you leave their store. Not only do they make you pay to try on dresses, but in most cases they will pick out the dresses they think will look good on you, and only let you try on three. Then they will high pressure you to buy it and will knock off money to try to get you to agree. Also, they tend to get an attitude if you go in there to browse and have no real idea what you are looking for. They want this to be your last stop and want your ready to buy. Not my idea of a good time!
