The folks at the Humane Society have always been kind and courteous to myself and my family. Many times we have used their medical services for our own pets, and been able to recover our lost pets thanks to them. The staff is always extremely courteous and sympathetic to the needs of the community. THEY ARE CURRENTLY (since the end of 2010) BEING FORCED TO MOVE OUT OF THEIR OLD BUILDING AND NEED DONATIONS BADLY TO GET A NEW BUILDING. If you have ever appreciated the Beaver County Humane Society and have even an extra $5 to give, now is the time.

I adopted a dog from this shelter two years ago and everything went smoothly. The adoption fee was extremely reasonable when you consider everything they did for the dog. It is a very old shelter and doesn't look as flashy as some of the other shelters in the area, but the employees seemed to want to help both us and the dogs.

As for the other post about letting a child stick their fingers in a cage and getting told not to. NEVER should anyone stick fingers into any cage of any animal. You never know if the animal is going to bite and being in a shelter environment, the animals are stressed. It is foolish and irresponsible and if a dog or cat bites a person, a quarantine period will be in order. That is the last thing that both the shelter and the person wants to deal with.

I have never had anyone at the shelter be rude to me. The only issue I had was trying to get someone on the phone. They are a busy shelter, so it is alot of phone tag, but that didn't deter me.

Pros: Very reasonable adoption fees, helpful employees

Cons: Hard to get ahold of someone on phone

I have been in there many times looking at the animals, I went with my nephew and he was looking for a kitten, I told him to pick one out and he did, He stuck his finger in the cage to pet it and the worker there, said DON"T TOUCH IT> I was taken back on how rude she was. So we just left and I have not went back.
