Taqueria Taco Loco

I dined at Taqueria Taco Loco with my extended family; adult kids and their significant others. The atmosphere was fun and informal. We weren't rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy margaritas and beer. The menu is quite extensive; you can order a large entree or order several ala carte items of your liking. Everyone in our party seemed to order something a bit different and we had fun sampling each other's dishes. We had fun eating here and left happy and satisfied.

Pros: large menu with many selections

Having been to Mad Mex, Qdoba, Chipotle, and other Don Pablo's, I was certain there was a Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh that was actually worthwhile. I found it. Taqueria Taco Loco.

Having recently changed locales from James Street to the new location on E. Carson (Partnered with the Mill Site Tavern), Taco Loco is everything you could hope for in a Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic, and as tasty as can be. Edgar, the owner/proprietor, is always on site, welcoming and greeting his guests, constantly making sure each one is having an extraordinary experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are excellent, and they always have multiple specials and features each day. The decor is okay, but the real reason to go is the Soappapillas (Mexican Fried Dough), topped with 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce and cinnamon. Also try any of the fruit-waters that are home-made, and the beef, chicken, and pork tacos. Hands down, the best and most authentic mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh.

Cons: Parking (only on weekends)

Would I recommend Taco Loco to my friends...doubtful! After my first dining experience here, I said I would not come back. I thought everyone deserves a second chance, so I gave it another try. They certainly didn?t win me over. I?ve eaten at my share of Mexican restaurants and have found many others that excel in flavor! My food was lukewarm and lackluster. The soup was cold and flavorless. My taco was basically an empty shell. The wait staff was nice, but management was unhelpful. They did not care to hear my thoughts, seemed annoyed & brushed me off as if I did not exist. A successful restaurant is a combination of good food & good service. Taco Loco lacks this. My friends and I will not be returning.
