The best thing about the LeMont is the beautiful view of Pittsburgh. The decor is beautiful and the food is very good. The service is very good, also. I would recomment going there.

It was the absolute worst, expensive dinner I have had in a long time! The waiter was condescending and just plain rude, the food horrible and overpriced and when we said something when we left they laughed and said our next trip there would better...Ha! Like there will be a next time!

I absolutely love this place. My husband and I are from out of town. We first visited the LeMont on our honeymoon. Every year when we come to Pittsburgh for a Pens game, we go to the LeMont. The service is excellent. The view is breathtaking. The decor is very elegant. A very romantic fine dining establishment for dinner for 2 and a quiet night out and and excuse to dress up. The staff goes out of their way to make your experience a pleasant one and will cater to your every need. To top it off, the food is wonderful. My husband's steaks are always cooked to perfection and the seafood and chicken dishes (the sauces are divine) are also very pleasing to the palate. Food portions are good. Asparagus and other vegetables are perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this establishment. Your best bet to beat the crowds would be to go in the middle of the week (except valentine's, etc). Be prepared to annie up on the cash, but you will not regret the experience.

Pros: the view, the atmosphere, the food, the service

Cons: the parking, the price

I was there with my husband few days ago and spent a great time. We both had roasted raspberry duck and both tasted a little different. Since we were seated not as close to the window as at Isabela on Grandview we were missing the view, but the rest was acceptable. I can't compare the quality of food with seven course menu in Isabela, but it was still o.k. We were treated very nice and had few glasses of wine that was just great. We may come back again.

Pros: Sevice was very good

Cons: Too crowdy, slow parking

.

Yes, the view is beautiful, but the service was so bad we had to laugh. We had to ask for a wine menu, a "hurried" waiter asked us after sitting for 15 minutes if anyone told us the specials. The answer was no. As another reviewer stated, the mashed potatoes ARE from a can! Any restaurant that hands me a a bill for $180 for 2 with tip, and serves canned mashed potatoes should be embarrassed. The food came out "almost warm", the sea bass was a mushy sponge, the crab cakes were good, but I can't get past the bad service, lack of food presentation and fake potatoes. Our dessert from "the cart" that rides around the dining room all night was tossed on our table, again no presentation.

The Le Mont is what it is, old school with a view. (Although the bad service is unacceptable) I am new to this area and can't reccommend another restaurant, but if you have $200 to spend on a nice dinner, do some homework, and don't spend it there!

Pros: View

Cons: Everything Else, It is a caricature of Fine Dining

If fine cuisine, a breath-taking view of the city, and entertainment seems like a good time to you; then Le Mont restaurant IS THE PLACE TO BE! With one of the best wine selections and table side cooking, Le Mont is a great place to go out and eat. I have been eating at Le Mont for years, and once again, this luxurious restaurant has left me feeling nothing short of satisfied.

I just had LeMont for the first time and it proved to be a really good time. The food was delicious and they even cooked my steak right in front of me. It was also entertaining for the kids to see the fire in the pan while they cooked my bananas foster. I will defiantly eat at LeMont more often.

I took my parents there for their anniversary and they did a wonderful job! We were seated by the window and the view is amazing. The servers made us feel welcome and were very attentive without being overbearing. The food was wonderful and timely served. It is well worth the money.

We have been to the Le Mont a number of times (it was where we had our wedding reception years ago) and we kept on hoping that the food would get better. Once again, it disappointed.. We had a business dinner recently and the wine list was not up to date (we ordered the wines and after 20 minutes, the steward came back and said they were out of them...), they were out of the simplest food (a Cabernet steak). Once the foods came, they were second rate at best. The Chilean seabass was completely poorly cooked (spongy and no taste), my wife's filet mignon - despite ordered medium rare - was literally burnt...
The rest of the foods on the plate was filled with mashed potatoes and raw carrots....

We kept on hoping but we are now finally given up. We will go elsewhere (Bona Terra is a great place) - both with our own dinning and corporate clients.

Never have I seen such a beautiful restaurant with such BAD food. The potatoes tasted as if they were instant... either that or the "chef" doesn't know what salt, pepper, or butter is. The duck.... was lame. Ossa bucco rosoto was again bland with no hint of any type of flavor. I also had the arugula salad with pecans... the dressing reminded me of wet sneaker water. What is going on here? If there was a decent chef in that kitchen the place would be packed every night. I've never seen prices like that for food that wasn't even good enough to get a sub-par rating. I'm just astonished by the lack of creativity and taste that the whole menu has. It's the biggest joke in Pittsburgh. If your looking to sell the restaurant, call me, I will buy it in a second then get a real chef in there and give people a real meal for their buck. Oh, and lastly, dessert carts are fine, but don't freaking serve the deserts off the cart!!! It should be for show only!!! Who the hell wants a dessert that has made its way around a restaurant all night... landed on by flys, pushed through the occasional sneeze or cough, not refrigerated for 3-5 hours.... mmmmmm, I'll have the carrot cake that the old guy sneezed on. Thanks for dinner but you can have it back.... BLAAAGGGHHHHHH.

I can't believe this place stays in business. We've dined there several times and each time we had gone back we'd hoped to experience a better meal. Never happened. The food is marginal at best and the service is about the same. If you go there expecting a true fine dining experience, you will be disappointed. The only decent feature is the view but one can get the same view from any other restaurant in Mt. Washington. I wouldn't waste my money in this place again.

Lemont Restaurant is located on top of Mount Washington. This restaurant is dining at it's finest. It offers a great view of the city and top notch service. The food is excellent, especially the appetizers. The food is expensive but worth it for a great meal or on a special occasion. It's a classy place.

When arrived dining room was practically empty, but had to wait 15 minutes to order a bottle of wine. Waiter did not tell you about different price for water at the beginning of the meal. Waiter stated that the special for the day was the Fish Sampler. She stated that the Lobster and Crab cakes were good size. When the meal came the lobster was good size but cold and very stingy, burnt on the bottom, and the crab cake was the size of a quarter. Even the salad was bad, way to much dressing. Worse place in Mt. Washington by far and I have eaten at them all numerous times. I will never return even if it was free.

We ate at Lemont during a very slow night. As you might expect, the service was very good and the food arrived quickly. We thought the food was excellent though my swordfish bordered on bland. The desserts are fantastic. The wines however, are dramatically overpriced. You will have to scour the wine menu to find one under $100 and then you feel like a cheapskate ordering a "cheap" bottle. The view is to die for however and, if you can get past the wine prices, it's a great dining experience.

My family and I went here for a post graduation dinner. We heard so much about this place. The view overlooking the city and water was breathtaking. The service was excellent. But a restaruant is not a restaurant if the food does not match everything else that comes along with it. We had a party of six and every single entree was below average. We ended up paying over $70 per person! What a disappointment.

Went there for a group catered event. The view was gorgeous, but the food is pretty bad. Only the beginning (the salad) and the end (dessert) were good. The meat entrees were barely edible and the other stuff was hardly impressive. There must be other restaurants on Mt. Washington with better food.

The best thing Le Mont has going is the view. Wait and bus staff are attentive, but hurried. Wine steward is helpful but not pushy. Waited over an hour from our salad to our entree (the waiter said a banquet was being served). The banquet no doubt were the people walking around in blue jeans. When the entree was served, the plate was hot but the food was cold. The bill has a tip line for the Maitre d'. Why? He should be tipped before seating. For a lousy table and no follow up..tip??

We visited Le Mont on a busy night, however service was impeccable for the number of tables assigned to our waiter. The view from Mount Washington is the same from any of the restaurants facing the city, however the food is not. The menu is comparable to a two-star restaurant in NYC and the food is worse. My duck was incredibly dry and rather bland. Evidently, the 5-star rating is based strictly upon the view and the service. The menu (after all, that's why we go there) needs some large improvements. I very much wish that I had heeded caution from friends prior to making my reservations.

The view was wonderful, but the service fell far short of it's surroundings. Starving yourself 24 hours in advance of your reservation is recommended to avoid the brow-beating you'll receive from the wait staff if wine, a salad and an appetizer are all you desire. Prematurely calculating a 20% gratuity as I order is not what I expect from a waiter who's job it is to help make my dining experience pleasurable. As our waiter belittled my selection throughout the evening, comparing it to the entrees of my companions, I had to wonder if someone hadn't brought their edefice complex with them to work that evening. Service, not the size of the bill is what commands a generous gratuity and our waiter was fortunate I was not taking care of the tab. With good food and a great view, it was unfortunate that our waiter seemed so out of place.

Had a bad experience with the service for our anniversary last year- called the next day and voiced my concerns. Received a nice gift certificate in the mail from the manager (who was very receptive to my criticisms). Decided to try LeMont again (and use the gift certificate, of course). Good, professional service but it was obviously another busy night so the intimate attention to detail was lacking...disappointing. Obviously if you go for dinner at LeMont, you know that you'll pay for it. Just wish they'd step up a notch and make you feel like you're in a real 5 star restaurant. Probably won't go again anytime soon.

The view is all this resturant has going for it! The food is tasteless and definiatly overpriced. When you make a reservation for eight and are not seated at your table until 9:45 there is a problem! The staff was rushed and made us feel rushed with our meal. Since when does a waitress ask about dessert in the middle of an entree? Will nit go back.

Recently, I took my boyfriend to Le Mont to surprise him. The restaurant is very elegant, and the view of Pittsburgh is beautiful. He ordered filet mignon, which was incredibly tender. I ordered the macadamia nut fish, which was pretty tasteless except for the sauce that was on it. The shrimp that came with it was very sweet, and tasted great, though! The service was adequate, but not great. We had 10:00 reservations, though, so the waiter must have been exhausted. Overall, it was nice to do once, but not worth going back again.

The service was very good our waiter Tony was attentive, non-intrusive and very professional overall. Unfortunately, everything else was far below average for that price range. Absolutely nothing exciting about the food plain and unimaginative, if not poorly done i.e. in this establishment beauf Wellington is a grilled tenderloin steak sitting on top of puff pastry cake; Or, for that matter, crabcakes had more spices in them than an average south Indian dish. The wines are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive i.e. a bottle of modest 98 Rosemount estate Shiraz that goes for $15 in the wine shop will cost you $85 there.
All in all, a $200 dinner for two in that place would give you just a little more than a nice view of the city.

We visited Pittsburgh and were told we should try this place. Great suggestion, the view, service, food and wines were very good. We had steaks which were cooked just right - medium rare, they were tender and tasty. The wine was great, although not inexpensive. The service was very good also, attentive without being intrusive. Overall we had a nice visit - two nights in town, one dinner at Le Mont and one at Ruth's Chris, not shabby at all.
