Olaughlin is a close friend of my uncle and I can say from all the truly disgusting stories I've heard that this man is a sadistic menace. If you need to find a home for an unwanted rabbit or turtle sure take him to good ole dr. O. You know what will happen? He'll make rabbit stew and turtle soup. He doesn't care about their well being he does whatever the hell he wants. He once locked an associate in a trailer with a super pissed off bull. The guy barely made it out alive and certainly with a few less years in his life. The people who work for him make the choice to stay there day in and day out. Your pets have no say in where you take them. I genuinely believe he gets off puncturing animals with needles. No one should need to puncture an animal multiple times to avoid squirting the shot directly out the other side of their skin. My cats paws were a bloody infected mess when she was declawed. It looked as though he'd taken pliers and ripped them out.nshe still has sensitivity problems with her front paws. Not to mentiOn I took her another dignified true animal lover of a vet in scottdale who said she looked like she'd stuck her paws in a blender. Dr. o has a business because friends continue to support him. Not to mention he donates money to various causes to blow smoke up people's asses. He does not have a clinic because he is a good vet.if he's offered to bury your dead animals it's because he uses them for target practice long before they find a place to be put to rest. You shouldn't own plants let alone animals if you think John is the place they'll be treated right.

Dr. O is not a people person. He's an animal person. His attitude and treatment of his staff do not constitute all these negative reviews. He's saved my animals a number of times. From a bee string to a fish hook in the nose to a non-canerous lump, Dr. O has treated my animals for over 13 years.

I moved away from the Mt. Pleasant area about 9 years ago and I still continue to drive over an hour just to see Dr. O. I couldn't imagine taking my dog or cat to any other clinic.

Take your beloved pet to any other vet and you'll be sorry. Read their reviews and you'll find more than just bad reviews concerning their attitudes.

When I first move back to PA, I took my Flat-coated Retriever to a veterinarian in Uniontown. After telling them that my dog was spayed and that I didn??t have the papers to prove it because of moving, she replied, ??well how do you know it was done?? I told her that I was the anesthesiologist for her spay and showed her where the incision was. She still didn??t believe me. Dr O listens when I explain to him about an issue with any of the three dogs I own.

My middle baby (a mixed breed) we got from a shelter has issues with his ears from allergies. Dr O told us that we could take him to a specialist and pay thousand of dollars for tests and still not know what it is. Or we could try this medication (less than 50 dollars) first. Well, needless to say we tried the medication. It worked, twice a year we go to the office and get medication and we are good for the rest of the year.

We just had our youngest baby spayed earlier this week. Dr O explained the whole procedure to us and gave us handouts about the surgery when we came in and explained everything again after the surgery. I remember when we took our baby to see Dr O for the first time. She was 8 weeks old, needing her shots. I never owned a German Shepard before so Dr O explained some things to us. He suggested a book to read about training and that she would need to eat salmon based dog food because of her joints. He does educate those that are willing to learn or pay attention to what he is saying.

Have you ever seen a cat with FIV in the later stages? It isn??t a pretty sight. They get very thin, hair is dull and falling out. They can??t eat or drink and they become very lethargic. To put it in plainly, they look like the walking dead. Even the vet I worked for in New Jersey would have put that cat down. The FIV infection can be transmitted thru salvia from one cat to another.

About controlling your dogs? Just because they behave at home or in the park, doesn??t mean that they will do the same at the vet??s office. They can smell where they are and that makes them even more hyper and nervous. If you were unable to control your dogs you should have left one in the car while the other was waiting to be seen. Ultimately it is not the technicians?? jobs to help you control your dogs. Being a responsible owner you should have control at all times or your own help.

I have medical training and experience with both humans and animals. I have to say; I would much rather work with animals. Humans complain too much.

FYI: Dr O has no idea that I worked for or trained in veterinary medicine.

Doctor O. is not your run-of-the-mill vet. He's a committed animal care expert whose no-nonsense approach is appropriate for animal health. I'm not looking for a new best friend. I wanted my dog to receive expert and humane treatment. And she did.

My beloved dog lived for seventeen years. Dr. O. took care of her through some very healthy years. Finally, this vet's care enhanced the quality of life for her last two years. He also treated her, and us, with dignity and empathy when the time came to end her life.

I have taken my animals to Grace Vet for years and he has done an exceptional job with all of them. Yes, he does yell at his workers but, you have your own butt on the line when you own a business, if they are being incompetent they should be told. He in an intelligent person who has always helped us out. He does have a heart, he was very sympathetic when we recently lost our weiner dog, he even buried her on his farm for us because the pain was too much to bury her at home. This page is about opinion. no one is right or wrong. I truly believe this man is a very smart person with a true love for animals...just a bit honest!

one evening my 12 1/2 year old lab wondered out of her yard which never once has happened before. I alerted all my neighbors @ 7:50 pm that my girl was missing. We went to the local gas station they stated that my dog was bumped but fine and a kind citizen did the right thing by contacting grace vet. Grace Vet in turn called gas station and rudely wanted to know who was taking financial responsibility. At 7:26 the dog catcher was called and murdered my dog. To my disbelief i arrived @ Grace Vet @ 8:40 and my girl was already euthanized. The Dr/ Hoffman dog control stated my dog was mangled. Three eye witnesses stated otherwise. The only mark on her was the scratch below her eye. I called that following Mon for her x-rays & exam records. They stated there was record of treatment due to no financial responsibility. How can this happen in 1hr and 10 min! The oppurtunity for me to save my child was robbed from me! Had they have held her for 24 hrs which is dictated by state laws. My girl would not have died in vain. Sadly missed but not forgotten. Anyone who knew me and my girl knows I would have done anything on this earth to save her, regardless of the cost to me she was not just a dog rather a child.

I would like to add that Grace Vet is by far the best place i have EVER taken any of my animals! We have A LOT of animals that Dr. John takes care of, and let me tell you he gives the best attention to each and every one of them. Yes maybe he can have an attitude with his employees but he is only doing his job hes there to help animals not to impress his employees. IF ANYTHING they should be learning by his 100% love for animals and do the same, if they want in that profession. I know from experience that he is in this job for the ANIMALS! I had a dog that was dieing from kidney failure and she would not eat anything. Dr. John took her home personally and made her dinner just to try to get her to eat something and make her feel more comfortable. and finally when we decided to put her down because there was nothing else we could do, Dr. John had tears in his eyes when we came up for our last good byes. I also had cat who couldnt breathe so i took her on a Sunday to an emergancy vet in plum and the vet there said she was VERY sick her throat was collapsing. I said i would like to take her home and take her to MY vet asap the next morning for a second opinion... this doctor decided to tell me if i took him home she would have animal curelty on me. I then said well what do you want me to do. She said either put the cat down or pay this crazy amount of money for her to be taken to Ohio. Well at the time i wasnt able to pay $3.000 dollars to take him to Ohio so i made my tough decision and had him put to sleep. We took him home and buried him in our yard, later that night we called Dr. John to tell him what had happened and he told us to bring him up to the office first thing in the morning. The man was nice enough to have the cat sent out for a biopsy NO CHARGE for my family and we came to find out he had strep throat. My cat could be living right now if it wasnt for the lady at the plum emergancy vet. So i would just like to say, if you are more worried about the Dr being your friend rather your animals friend then i suggest you dont have animals yourself. The doctor is there to help your animal and i know from experience the man IS in fact there for his animals. I highly suggest Dr. John to many of my family and friends and have NEVER got a bad response from any of them. DR JOHN YOU ARE AWESOME!

GIVE ME A BREAK!! Lets face reality here people, you do not go to a vet for conversation and to make friends with HIM or his STAFF! They are there to do a JOB and take care of animals! which is EXACTLY what they do. If you ask him,he will tell you himself that he is NOT a people person. Hence...he is a vet! I'm NOT denying he can be a real jerk and his personality harsh but he IS honest (painfully to some). But all I know is when it comes to MY animals....I don't care how you treat ME or how you treat your staff...I'm here for my ANIMALS to get the best care and treatment which is EXACTLY what we get. I also have seen his generosity to people who can't pay and gives discounts to regular patients! I'm sorry to those who have lost their pets but lets not confuse hearbreak from medical ignorance! Lets be honest here!

I think Grace Veterinary Clinic is the best! It is the best vet I have ever gone to! I have a English Springer that loves to play ball and also gets very bad ear infections! After leaving a "very popular' vet in Uniontown Pa with no results but a huge bill, I got a reference to Grace vets! After 2 visits my dog is completly cured and feeling better than ever! That is after 2 years and hundreds of dollars at the other vet! He came into the room and told me about the ear surgery he was going to do to my baby that she needed so much, while he was playing ball with her! Which my dog loved and it made her feel so comfortable( Which she never felt at the last vet) He did the ear surgery and was so gentle! Then I got my bill! I still can't believe how reasonable it was! It is very hard to lose your pet and best friend(I understand I lost my last Springer at the other vet at the age of 7,) But sometime there is just nothing ANYONE can do! I think this Vet is great and I would recommend it to everyone! He is very good at what he does! He very straight up and tells it like it is! Like it or not! I like it!

Well from personal expierence this is the worst vet ive ever seen! Only thing i can say good is that he keeps the place clean other than that he's a raging bipolar jerk! He lets his tech bring in her toddler son in for the other girl(s) to watch. They must answer phones, help whoever comes in, cleaning up, all while tryin to watch this child. The jerk says "keep him out of my way" THEN TELL YOUR TECH TO GET A BABYSITTER! Ive also witnessed him speak to clients in a manner a teenage kid does to a parent. GROW UP n BE PROFESSIONAL! Friends have also heard him yell at his employees and throw things like a 2 year old having a tantrum! For a place that is OSHA and AHAA certified they sure got one certified jackass of a doctor. If i were him id stop prescribing prozac and valium to the animals and pop a few himself!

Do Not Take Your Animals to this Murderer!! That Doctor is a nut case. He is truly unprofessional and does not like animals! He was brutal to my cat. Cut his ear with a scapal to lance a hematoma to the ear and put a stent in with super glue. The ear got larger and became more infected and the cat became lethargic. I called back and the Dr. was worse than ever...put the phone down when I trying to talk to him and then one of the paid staff got on and was just as smart and unsympathtic. I took my cat elsewhere and now I'm not sure if this cat is going to live. The skin is falling off the ear and it may be cancer. If you love your animals, don't go to Grace, it should be called Terror Veterinary Clinic.

Horrible place. Took my black lab there to get spayed and she died not long after. So sad. He's an animal killer. I'll NEVER go back to this Vet again. If you love your animals go somewhere else. By reading everyone elses bad experiences.. I dont know how he's still in buisness!

This veterinarian, while not all that personable, is an exceptional veterinarian. After being told by our old vet that the "cherry eye" my Pomeranian developed could be repaired but would probabaly come back, I took her to Dr. O. to have her spayed and while the dog was on the table, he called me personally and asked if I wanted that gland tucked back in. He did at no extra charge and it hasn't popped out since...and that was one year ago. He is a good vet...just not a people person, which is probably why he is veterinarian.

Terrible person to take your animals to. He is rude to his employees and customers. I recently took my animal there for treatment. He could not even be bothered to give my animal a full exam - threw his hand is the air and stated 'I cant deal with this today' before storming out of the room. While we were in the waiting area he was yelling at his staff across the building from his back office. If he acts this way while pet owners are around I hate to see how he is when they aren't.

From a personal experience years ago behind the scenes there I would never take any of my animals there for any kind of treatment, not even an exam. The vet admits being very difficult to work with, and has had an insane amount of employees over the years because of the way he is and how he treats them. He likes very few people, and if you are not one of the ones he likes, good luck dealing with him. Not to mention he allows children to take animals out of cages, animals who are staying at the hospital for one reason or another, sick or surgery, he does not mind one bit if a technicians children takes the animals out of there cages and may possibly even drop the animal. There was such a time where I had just walked around the corner to find one of the children taking a cat out of the cage that had already been given drugs to knock it out before a surgery and the child dropped the cat on the hard floor. Not only is this dangerous to the animals, but the children as well. I have also witnessed him yelling at a technician to get off the phone with a client who had questions about a pet of theres that was ill all because the technician had left a stack of towels on the table so they could answer the phone. For those of you who apporove this veterinary clinic I'm glad you had a good experience, I can only state my experience from years ago and hope that nothing bad happens to anyone's animals that really shouldn't happen.

I took my cat to this vet three weeks ago for his annual and told the vet that my cat seemed thinner, his fur seemed course and he was acting lazy. His response was "cats lose weight" and no big deal about the fur. Three weeks later and my cat was crying and sick on the floor, I rushed him back. I was told his kidneys were failing- a condition that every moment counts and turns out all of my complaints three weeks before had been signs. When I insisted at this time that they look at the weight chart from the year before my cat had lost over three pounds, how did he not notice this problem when I even asked about it? After leaving my cat there for a day and heart ache I decided to pull him from there and go to an animal hospital. Well, what a mess! When I went to pick up my cat and explained that I just wanted to ensure the best quality and meant no insult to him, just wanted a 24 hour hospital, the Vet went nuts on me! He shouted and told me he was even better than this hospital, that he wanted them to get me and my cat and get the hell out of there. He was horrible and unprofessional! I could go on for an hour, but will end with this advice- stay away from this clinic. My cat may and may not survive- the animal hospital where he is says that his care there had been poor and the signs should have been noticed three weeks ago. Now my cat has what they call "a fighting chance"- God help him. Do not take an animal you care about to this vet, please..

Dr. O is fine! my response to the person with the hyper dogs, "If you can't handle both your dogs at the same time, you have no business taking them anywhere by yourself. You put them and other in danger. It is not the responsibility of the vet and his staff to help you in the waiting room. They are busy. They don't have time for someone who doesn't have enough sense to bring someone with them or is too cheap to bring them separate. I don't care who he yelled at, he save animals lives that's the important thing. How dare you give a bad review because of your ridiculous expectations. Go to a nice vet that doesn't know what he's doing that should keep you happy! He is rough around the edges, so what. He care about animals that's why he's a vet. I don't go to him for good conversation and to observe his manners! As far as the cat person, why would you make an animal suffer for your sake. If he was being honest with you and told you the cat was terminal, why would you be shocked when it died in surgery? Are you out of your mind? If he didn't care about your cat, he would of nickel and dim-ed you till the cat died many visits later. You two need to quit being so self centered and selfish. Neither of you are responsible pet owners as you statement proves! I'm sorry for the person with the kitten, but that could happen with any vet. They aren't gods. Again I will say I will take John's harshness and knowledge over any other vets kindness and less experience. He saved my brothers dog, refused to give up on her even when he wanted to put her asleep. After a week there he only charged them a little over 300 dollars! Now you're gonna tell me he's a murderer? Get lives people!

Our dog was injured on New Years Eve. The office was closed but Dr. O laughlin met us at his office and then took our dog to his home where he could watch him through the night. He cancelled his New years eve plans. I don't understand how there could be a negative review about this man! We have other pets who are all patients of his. This vet is all about the animals and what is best for them. It sounds to me that the person who wrote the review regarding the cat should have trusted the doctor from the beginning and perhaps there would have been a different out come. I HIGHLY recommend this vet to anyone who reads these reviews. I can refer happy client after happy client to you!!!

Pros: True passion for animals!

Cons: none!

i agree with the person below me. if he hated animals enough to KILL them.. he definitely would NOT be a vet. hes a real nice guy. hes just very.. firm? i guess would be the word. hes extremely upfront and kind of has an aggressive personality but he means nothing but the best for animals. i took my kitten, Muffin, there when he was just a few weeks old with a broken shoulder. im not sure what exactly happened to him but the vet felt sorry for him and had never had to fix a broken bone in such a small cat before. so he said he would do his best and had to make his own "cast" thing. whatever those are called. splints maybe? haha but anyway he did it for nothing cause hes never had to do that before and felt bad. he is definitely a very nice guy. oh and my cat is now 11 with no arthritis or any other problems.

and hes also worked on my uncles dog. who was old at the time and cut up his foot on a farm machine, in which was also done for little to nothing.

Please disregard negative reviews.

I have owned many animals whom I've taken to numerous veterinarians in 2 different states. I currently travel over 30 minutes each way just to bring my dog to Grace because of the fantastic service I receive there.

The vet is extremely caring and kind, and he will not deceive you. The problem many other reviewers may have is the directness of his approach, but I appreciate that. I strongly prefer a vet who will give it to me straight, prior to my laying down thousands of dollars for surgeries and treatments, if he believes my pet will not benefit from extension or improvement of life as a result. Contrarily, I have encountered many vets who appear to be focused on making money, who will recommend expensive procedures and medications that, in the long run, do not do much to help. These vets take advantage of our emotional attachments; they are the ones to be criticized. At Grace, you can have faith in what the vet is telling you.

Furthermore, this vet has a very strong reputation for doing whatever he can to help an animal...even foregoing payment or allowing people to set up payment plans if they are unable to pay the full balance at the time of service. This is incredibly rare for veterinarians, and it is evidence of how seriously he takes the lives of the animals for which he cares.

His prices are very reasonable. My dog, who passed away this past February, had an aggressive oral infection a few years ago. It resulted in her having all but 4 or 5 teeth pulled in a surgery for which she was put under. The charge for that surgery, her overnight stay, and her regular shots came to around $170.

As a comparison, I spoke with a friend whose dog had a similar infection and had only its top teeth removed, for which the bill came to over $1000.

More recently, our black lab had infections in both ears, and we followed the course of treatment as the vet instructed. At our return visit, he was so pleased with how clean my dog's ears were and how well we had taken care of him that he did not charge us for the visit.

As for the comment about him looking down upon Fayette County hillbillies, I have not witnessed that, and I am not inclined to believe it. I would hazard to guess, however, that what was perceived as intellectual snobbery was more likely to have been frustration with lack of responsible pet-ownership.

Finally, accusing a vet of intentional malpractice in allowing a cat to die during a surgical procedure is a slanderous and serious insinuation. I am very sorry for the loss of your cat, and I understand your sadness. It is devastating to lose a beloved pet.

However, is it not likely that the cat was in such ill health that it could not withstand the anaesthesia/stress of surgery? You are essentially alleging that the veterinarian, a man who has dedicated his life to helping and treating pets, intentionally contributed to the death of yours, when the facts seem to point to another much more likely possibility. Again, I do feel for you, but perhaps he told you that the cat would not make it through surgery, but you were too caught up in the emotion of the moment to want to hear his professional recommendation. Perhaps this is more an indication of his expertise than of his negligence.

Took in a cat to be neutered(cat was fiv positive and he (vet) wanted to put him to sleep right then but I said no and he did not like me going against his wishes so during operation cat mysteriously died. He said cat probably got into poison(I had him locked in room-no way to get into ANYTHING).He thinks he is more educated than us fayette county hillbillies. I would never have gone back but boyfriend took in stray kitten(which was eating and walking around) with out me knowing and he died there also. When I found out kitten was there I knew I would never see him alive. God only knows what was done to that little kitten .Vet does not like animals and certain people and will kill your animal out of spite . My ex-boyfriend knew how horrible this man is but thought he was teaching me a lesson for taking in another stray kitten .He knew Grace vet would kill the kitten and not charge him-which is what happened. When I was last there years ago I was telling that big woman who works behind the counter about all the strays in our neighborhood and how terrible it is and she said "move,ha,ha" Any vet techs that have witnessed anything and have not reported him are just as guilty.

I can't say anything bad about our experience with Grace Vet Clinic! Our one cat was declawed there. Our other cat is a current patient with a heart problem. Our experience has been nothing but great.

I want everyone to know that I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone who loves their pet. We took our kitten here for a normal spay and declaw. They were very unprofessional and didnt take the time to talk to me when i had questions. She ended up with a failed kidney months later because of the vet there who did her surgery. We know this for a fact because she had to have emergency surgery to have a kidney taken out because of a mistake they made that could have been prevented. Our normal vet said he has never seen what happened to her in his many years as a vet. And we are still not out of the woods yet. Shes just over 2 yrs old, she was at Grace at about 6 months old. Please, take your pet to a vet who cares about the pets they are taking care of. I dont want anyone to go thru what we went thru and are still going thru.

I have two very hyper dogs that just needed their rabies shots. When I called I explained they are in training and very excitable and I have a hard time with them in new places, and they said that was fine just bring them in. So I brought them in and they were trying to sniff everything and when another dog came in they were barking their heads off, and not very good. The entire staff was standing around, not offering to help. (The combined weight of these dogs is 98lbs, and I am only 110 lbs, so its difficult for me alone.) Not a single person offered help and I heard a few comment about how 'aggressive' my dogs were instead of lending a hand. These dogs go to the dog park 3 times a week, and are good with every dog they have ever been around, but both dogs were on leashes and mine were riled up before the other walked in the door, so they were barking in excitement wagging their tails. I feel that they could have simply taken me to the exam room and helped in any way instead of being so judgemental when they already had warning as to the difficutly level of these two obnoxious dogs. (They are in training, and I am trying but they are new shelter dogs). I feel they were unprofessional and definatly not helpful or friendly in any way shape or form and I would not reccommend this vet to anyone. While I was there I also witnessed the Vet screaming at a Vet Tech for filling a prescription differently than he had written it, then realizing that he wrote a dosage that did not exist for the pills he was prescribing, but yelling at her anyway in front of the entire waiting room.
