Don Giovanni's Classic Bakery

Don Giovanni's Classic Bakery is a business that should be shut down!
by Denise P.
The previous compliment sounds like the owners wrote it! I was in there recently and bought a danish. Couldn't wait to get home and enjoy it because it looked so good! Much to my surprise, it was hard and stale. I'm not going back. I'll go to the bakery on Bustleton (sorry I can't remember the name). They are courteous, respectful, and the food is always fresh! Giovanni's is ignorant, rude, and a leech. He's creepy when he looks at you with those little black eyes he has. Stay away from this place! Your money is better spent elsewhere.

Don Giovanni's Classic Bakery is The Best in Town
by Kathy P.
I go to Giovanni's almost everyday. The food is great. My kids love it there. Owners always fuss over my girls and love the cookies they bestow upon them when we're in there. From the fresh bread, pizza to sweets, never have a reason not to stop in for something. Keep up the great work.

Don Giavanni's bakery NOT EVEN WORTH 1 STAR!!
by kathy h.
This place should be shut down. Owners are obnoxious, rude, and have zero customer service. I spent $250 on a double layered cake for a party. I couldn't even cut it when I served dessert because the whole top layer was frozen! I The frozen part was on top of the full sheet cake...which fell apart as the top of the cake thawed at the party! Every guest table had full dessert plates left on the table for trash! At $250.00 that cake should have been spectacular and as fresh as the owner told me it would be! When I returned to discuss with the owners, they both screamed at me "get out of our store", "we don't need your buisness or your familiy and friends buisness" and Don yelled "I don't care how much you paid, get out" when I pulled out the receipt. And I was a returning customer. It's worth it for me to drive the extra miles for a REAL family operated bakery with CONSISTENT fresh baked goods. Who can afford that mistake in this economy today!!

Don Giovanni's Classic Bakery is incompetent.
by Nancy G.
We ordered a 40th birthday cake and wanted a Yankee baseball theme. We even drew out specific ideas but trusted them when they said, "no problem. Our cake decorator is terrific." It was beyond disappointing when we saw the red ,white and blue child's art project that was presented as the finished product. We were then confronted with rudeness and insulting attitude when presented with the fact that the product did not resemble a Yankee's blue and white, pin-stripped theme at all! Can not tell you how heartbroken we were over the anticipated surprise for our Yankee fan. We will never step foot in there again.

Don Giovanni's Classic Bakery is horrible!!!
by Teena R.
This bakery is a dump! Food is stale, portions are good one time, horrible the next. Don Giovanni is an obnoxious, arrogant Italian who thinks it's his way or no way. He's a little man who has to be rude to make up for his lack of size. Wonder if the icky little mexicans working there are legal?

Watch our for "Don"
by M S.
"Don" is a womanizer, looks down your blouse, get to close when talking to you. In general a "pig". If it wasn't for his wife I wouldn't set foot in the place. She is a saint to put up w/him.Sometimes the pastry is good and sometimes it is stale. Pizza good, calzones good.

Beautiful Cakes!
by Carmen R.
I have been ordering the number cakes from here for awhile and I must say...The cakes were delicious. They were decorated so pretty and I was truly impressed. I have never had an issues if the owners. And now I am going to order a number 6 cake for my son for Friday 4/10/09.

YUMMY
by Bridget H.
I am disheartened to read some of the previous reviews. I have been buying my cakes at Don Giovanni's for the past few years and have never been disappointed. Their birthday pound cake and sweet icing is to die for. Another favorite of mine is their apple strudel pie which I buy every holiday. My most recent Don Gio Fave is their steak stromboli which I take to every party I go to now.I am curious to see what will happen if I ever have a problem though :\ I hope it is handled better than the previous reviews state. Don is a bit of a lech but tolerable ;-) Their prices are a bit steep which is why I only go there on special occasions.

Food is delicious!
by Linda T.
I have gotten all kinds of food from here and have never been disappointed. The sandwiches are large and delicious, while I crave the tomato pie and white pie with sweet peppers all of the time! My family and many others love Giovanni's and I recommend it all of the time! They have a great reputation for excellent food; the place it usually packed!
Don is a typical firey sicilian/italian; overly confident and does tend to be a little over the top at times, but he is usually very nice and will talk your ear off and let you taste so many things!! He does like to keep you in the store for as long as possible!
For a great desert, I highly recommend the chocolate tort! Superbly rich and delectably delicous!
His wife and mother are the nicest people in the place!
And NO...I am not an owner writing a positive review...just a happy customer!

NEVER....NEVER....NEVER...
by no n.
I would never refer anyone to this dump. If a customer is not satisfied you should at least try to work with them. You don't have to worry about me EVER going to this bakery. What reason would you have to be nasty to a customer if they are UNSATISFIED. If you ordered red velvet cake, you should not get a brown cake.

Unbelievably horrible and disappointing customer service...
by adrian k.
Purchased a Red Velvet Cake for my son's birthday party for 35 people...an $80 cake mind you. It was horrible! No one would eat the cake. It tasted like carrot cake and it wasn't even red, it was brown with pockets of red in it...nastiest red velvet cake I had ever had. I returned to the store the following morning to see if I could get a credit, refund or even purchase something else. The owners wife was extremely obstinate and uncompromising. No refunds, no credits...you don't like it too bad...I just lost my nephew, and he's not going to have any more birthdays...if you don't like it, we can throw it away here or you can take it with you...if you choose not to do business here anymore, oh well. Needless to say, I had done business there several times and even referred others there without ever having a problem. She did all this ranting in front of my son as if she could care less that he didn't have a cake and there were several customers in the store who heard HER because I never once raised my voice. I get the impression that she thought I was trying to scam her, however, I was merely trying to work something out whether it be choose another cake and pay the difference partial refund since the cake was cut, or even a credit, but she offered nothing so I had to resort to other measures. I was completely blown away by her callous attitude...even in restaurants, they offer something when the customer doesn't like the dish. I truly believe she had her mind made up when she saw us walk in with the cake box and immediately decided we were trouble. Needless to say, I will NEVER do business there ever again, even if they were the last bakery on the planet.

The positive reviews must come from the owners
by Ian G.
I was there last Friday. Their doors were wide opened (this was a real hot summer day). I've had the best pastries before, from swiss cakes you can imagine. I thought this was what we really needed, a good italian bakery in the neighborhood. Boy, oh boy. I got my self a cheese danish, they packed it on a hard plastic container and I could hardly wait to get home. As soon as I grab it was hard as a rock, old doesn't begin to describe it. This place is a dump! There should be ashame of trying to call it a "classic bakery", this was a classic scam.

attitude adjustment needed here!

There is never an excuse for rudeness especially since customers are what keeps a business going. Rudeness was what I encountered on my visit there and I shall never return!

This is probably one of the best bakery's outside of philly but their roots are in philly. I've gotten everything from rolls, tomatoe pie, hoagies but the strombolies have got to be my favorite. I've had a few pastries which were also very good. Their bread is a little on the sweet side which is a nice change from you average italian bread. You can feed your whole family lunch for less than 20 bucks and have plenty of leftovers.

Don Giovanni's is the best around. He has awesome desserts from canollis, to cakes, to pies, to cookies, and all othe rpastries made fresh daily. He also makes the best strombolis (sausage and peppers is the best). He also makes pizza and has some good rolls. They also make various types of sandwiches such as roast pork. Everything is average in price andi \t is kept every clean. But beware: the guy at the counter loves to flirt with women. LOL
