I've loved this place for years, but the service has been very inconsistent. The food, and the biscotti, is outstanding, and owner Larry Lagattuta was always on hand with funny comments or stories.

Two weekends ago, I had friends in from Philadelphia (ugh, I know) and wanted to show them the strip district. I took them to Enrico's on a rather quiet afternoon around 1:30. My party of four waited almost 10 minutes before anybody finally acknowledged our presence and pointed us towards a table for four. Somebody came by to wipe off the table, and told us our waiter would be one of two people, he just wasn't sure who. 10 more minutes goes by, and while we kept trying to ask for a waiter, we were told several times that somebody would be over. After another 5 minutes, we finally got up and left.

I emailed them through their site though, and Larry expressed his interest in making it right, and invited me and my party back for another visit. That is outstanding, personal service.

Pros: great food

Cons: slow service

Enrico Biscotti is a very special part of Pittsburgh's historic Strip District. I am from the North Hills and every so often I take a day trip to the Strip district to shop around and get a bite to eat.
It was initially the delicious aroma that drew me into this cute little bakery. Everything there is home made and fresh; its quite refreshing seeing something that is old fashioned once in a while. Rather than being hard and stale, the biscotti is soft and flavorful.
Definitely recommend this lovely place.

Pros: Most Fresh Biscotti in Town

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Enrico Biscotti in Pittsburgh's Strip district is a very special and interesting artisan-style bakery. The Italian pastries are hand-made and very fresh. Rather than your typical hard and stale biscotti, their biscotti is made daily so it is not only a great texture but comes in an abundance of flavors. If you are headed downtown, I would definitely recommend stopping by Enrico Biscotti. They also have a cafe next door if you are interested in pizza made in a wood-burning brick oven.

Enrico Biscotti is a bakery pretty much just for biscotti. They also bake some cookies and bread but everyone goes there for their biscotti. And, what biscotti it is ? very fresh and in many different flavors. Macadamia nut, chocolate, and vanilla are especially good. Their Saturday cooking classes are a lot of fun and they even have dog biscotti!! Closes at 4 pm and isn?t open on Sundays.

It's an institution, but so is Mama Leone's in Little Italy. Doesn't mean it's great. Or even very good. The aroma is sweet, but ask the better Italian restaurants and shops in town where they get their - more authentic - biscotti. Not at Enrico's. Not saying it's bad. But would agree on overrated. Time to move on.

Pros: smell

Cons: just ok

This is the most over-rated bakery in Pittsburgh selling biscotti. If you walk by the shop, the aroma is fabulous; but if you taste the 6 different biscotti, they all tatse the same...bland. I have never understood the fuss over this place.
