This is my favorite shop in Pittsburgh for new stuff (Kraynick's is best for old stuff). The techs at Biketek are helpful and willing to do quite a bit to help you out without expecting necessarily to get paid. Frank and Angelo are polite, not pushy, and friendly. Prices are reasonable. What more can you ask?

When I bought my first road bike there in 2005, Angelo made some effort to make sure the bike fit me. I definitely would have appreciated more of a rapport with the techs and owners, all of whom felt distanced and at times came off as condescending. Not sure what type of clientele they're shooting for, but that uncertainty indicates that I'm not in the mix.
A little more effort on their part could have made me a returning customer, but I go elsewhere now (and not the other place nearby.)

I went in there once interested in buying a bike but it was close to 5pm or whenever they close, and the employees (including the owner) were just talking to each other while I perused the selection. No one got up. Every time I had a question, I had to walk to the back of the store - and the reply to my question was always one or two words followed by a 'you're an idiot if I have to explain any more to you' look. I try to stay away but sometimes they're the only place that's open.

regarding Biketek Bicycles , I have found both Frank and Angelo to be fair and honest business people . There prices are lower , for like items , than those of there competitors . They will fit you properly to your new bike unlike another bike shop in the area who looks only to reducing there inventory and will sell an incorrectly sized bike to a consumer . Angelo could be a bit more diplomatic with customers but he means well .

got my first bike here, and I was a little dissappointed by the service. I didn't know much about road bikes at the time and I asked the staff alot of questions. They seemed to be too busy to help me, or they just thought I wasn't interested in spending enough money to make it worth their while.
When my tire blew out 15min after riding my new bike home, I called and said I thought there might be something wrong with the rim. They charged me just to look at it, and told me there was nothing wrong....
OK for prices, but not very good service.
