I purchased my Felt tri bike at Biketek. The price was great and actually had a 58cm in stock in my price range (under $2500). I could order a Cannondale Slice up the street if I put down a deposit - on a bike I hadn't ridden! They spent a lot of time fitting me. Also, I was overdue for my free tuneup, I brought it in had it done in a few hours even though they were busy. I was happy with the experience and my bike is fast.

I am not a cyclist and don't ever plan on being one, I just wanted a good bike for exercise. I know nothing about bikes and these guys didn't talk down to me. Thanks!

This is my favorite shop in Pittsburgh for new stuff (Kraynick's is best for old stuff). The techs at Biketek are helpful and willing to do quite a bit to help you out without expecting necessarily to get paid. Frank and Angelo are polite, not pushy, and friendly. Prices are reasonable. What more can you ask?

When I bought my first road bike there in 2005, Angelo made some effort to make sure the bike fit me. I definitely would have appreciated more of a rapport with the techs and owners, all of whom felt distanced and at times came off as condescending. Not sure what type of clientele they're shooting for, but that uncertainty indicates that I'm not in the mix.
A little more effort on their part could have made me a returning customer, but I go elsewhere now (and not the other place nearby.)

I went in there once interested in buying a bike but it was close to 5pm or whenever they close, and the employees (including the owner) were just talking to each other while I perused the selection. No one got up. Every time I had a question, I had to walk to the back of the store - and the reply to my question was always one or two words followed by a 'you're an idiot if I have to explain any more to you' look. I try to stay away but sometimes they're the only place that's open.

regarding Biketek Bicycles , I have found both Frank and Angelo to be fair and honest business people . There prices are lower , for like items , than those of there competitors . They will fit you properly to your new bike unlike another bike shop in the area who looks only to reducing there inventory and will sell an incorrectly sized bike to a consumer . Angelo could be a bit more diplomatic with customers but he means well .

got my first bike here, and I was a little dissappointed by the service. I didn't know much about road bikes at the time and I asked the staff alot of questions. They seemed to be too busy to help me, or they just thought I wasn't interested in spending enough money to make it worth their while.

When my tire blew out 15min after riding my new bike home, I called and said I thought there might be something wrong with the rim. They charged me just to look at it, and told me there was nothing wrong....

OK for prices, but not very good service.

I went to a lot of stores checking out bikes.I ended up buying here. I was very pleased with my experience. The salesperson went out of his way to explain everything and fit me to the bike correctly. I bought at the Forbes Ave location.

I always go to this bike shop for new stuff. I've found them to be helpful and engaging, not snobby at all. Their prices are as good as any you'll find off the Internet. The techs in back are happy to help with problems, even when they don't lead to something they can charge for.

Pros: Service, prices, friendliness

Skip it. Don't even walk in. You've seen it time and time again. Bike snobs that don't care at all about the regular customer.

Pros: Pretty store.

Cons: Another snobby bike shop. Just what we need.

I just moved to the Squirrel Hill area and took my bike here for a tune-up. I came to pick it up on the day I was told, and they still hadn't done any work on it. They told me to return later. When I did they still hadn't done anything and I was told to wait. They charged me an "arm and leg" for the "tune-up", when all that they really did was fill up the tires with air. When I returned home I noticed that they hadn't even bothered to but the valve caps back on the tires. I returned to the store for the valve caps and the owner nonchalantly handed them to me. I told him that I was very disappointed with their service and would never contemplate bringing my bike there again. He just looked at me and with a blank stare and did not even have the decency to apologize!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. THERE IS ANOTHER BIKE SHOP RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. GO THERE INSTEAD!
