Former Patient  5 Star Rating - World class

By Robert B.

I have sort of been looking for Dr. Benedetto for about 20 years. I wasn't trying hard because the situation in which I first met him was not a good one.My fathers family will always hold a great deal thanks to Dr. B for the work he did in diagnosing and treating family members with the very rare blood disease he diagnosed and went about treating family members. The disease is Porphia Cutanea Tarda (PCT). Very rare, and quite incurrable. Also it was limited to only members of our family until the Viet Nam war. As it turned out many service men came down with the disease as a result of contact with Agent Orange. He treated everyone including myself with the greatest amount of kindness and respect. My father was certainly one of the hardest hit by the disease. Eventually it contributed greatly to his death at 51. Many of my relatives have adjusted their lifestyles in order to avoid dying too young. My older brother just turned 59 and I am 56. Neither of us appear to be in the greatest of health, I have been totally disabled since 1999, but I don't see my death coming around for a few years yet. We have 2 sisters and one other much younger brother. I can't really say how the disease may or may not be affecting them. There is one other set of facts to look at. My father still has 2 siblings living today. There is an 82 year old sister and a 62 year old brother. They both avoided the inapproriate lifestyle actions which took my father so early (drinking alcohol in unacceptable amounts and consuming anything with a high iron content or anything with an average iron content in even small amounts over a long period of time).I am happy to say that the next generation knows all about the disease and how not to let it take their lives.I give thanks to Dr. Anthony V. Benedetto for all of his honest hard work. His was always a kind man, he was always sincere and of course, honest.

I came on here just to write this review about this doctor...  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

because I am so tired of believing these "top" or "best doctors" lists in the Main Line or Philly Magazines, etc. I have always wondered if it is all just politics anyway as my experiences never pan out at all in those "top" doctors offices... If anything from the initial phone call, through the visit - the majority of the staff has been rude to barely feeling heard for longer than three minutes by the actual doctor...

My most recent visit to a dermatologist which I had a mole removed and obviously wanted other skin information like my options regarding pimples/freckles etc while I was there... IT WAS MURDEROUS getting that info- i believe from my initial phone call til I left the office - which i was returning to twice for a mole removal! - i was told at least three times that I would need to pay $95 for a consultation fee for that info and set up an another appointment! the doctor had an associate do a body check, when she came in and said "yeah we'll take that mole off", and never as much as look at my skin - just threw me two perscriptions (one at $200), and never even asked when I went back for the removals - whether I liked them - how my skin responded - nothing! And they were not at all what she said they be on my skin... The worst derm experience I ever had really - she's been on the "top" and "best" doctors list in the area a few years that Ive seen so who knows really how long. probably cause one of her friends works for the news or something!

Dr. ANTHONY BENEDETTO is by far the best dermatologist I have found so I thought I have to share this. I couldn't believe it! I can't sing his praises enough. I think he sat with me close to a half hour, went over everything in detail - he is an information mega source regarding his field. Answered every concern from my mole extraction healing process which I wanted a second opninion on because I was not going back to the derm that removed it - to my skin questions - to vitamin advice - to cosmetic questions - and never charged me a dime for "consulting" as the other doctor put it. and he's an easy going genuinely nice person - no hang ups - no attitude - no pushing you to have anything done - just leaves it all with you and doesn't push anything on you.
he's hard to get into though so call early or cry when you try to make the appointment.

Oopsie! Ernest Benedetto Is Anthony's brother, and is actually the name of the doctor I was talking about in my above reveiew. They have a practice together in both Drexil Hill and Philadelphia, but Ernest is who I saw I will continue to see the rest of my life if possible... I mixed up their names.
