I bought several laptops from this store and have generally been satisfied until my experience with a pair of defective headphones for an iPod Touch that I purchased less than 60 days ago. The service staff and then the manager told me that Id need to go to an Apple retailer in Ardmore or King of Prussia in order to return the headphones that came with the iPod Touch from Springboard.
I was surprised that Springboard did not value my relationship more. I encouraged the manager to look at my customer history, but he declined to do so. He obviously has not seen the studies about the lifetime value of a customer. I was not a one-time buyer of a minor product. I was a frequent buyer of expensive products who happened to have a problem with a minor product.
Our relationship is over. I will buy online for the best price that I can find b/c there is no reason to pay Springboard's higher prices for no service. They are pleasant people but that does not make up for having to drive to a mall to replace Springboard's defective headphones.

I have been to springboard three times. Twice for repairs for my iBook G4 (in 2006 for a repair and 2007 for a replacement keyboard) and once to buy a new Macbook (February 2009). I often felt the bill was a bit high but Springboard is the nearest apple store for us non-driving philly folk.
I will never return to them because I recently purchased a new Macbook and Airport express for around $1200. When I went in, I asked them about transferring files from my old mac to my new mac; so they were well aware that I had an old iBook at home. Also I was in the system for being a repeat customer.
Here is the kicker: i got an email two days later for a promotion that lets you trade in your old mac for cash towards a new one. I could have saved at least $200 according to the advertisement. So they basically hustled me out of my money knowing that I could have saved substantially the next day. They are worse than car dealers. Never trust them and I recommend trying apple and only going to them as a last resort!
I feel cheated and they milked me to get the commission. Well fast money today is no money tomorrow, because I am never returning! They soured a relationship with a repeat customer.

I had brought my Imac in for servicing, and while there asked the techie/service gentleman who took my computer, knew it's capacity, ram, OS, if Aperture would run easily on my iMac. He assured me that it would, and that they had Aperture in stock for $265. I double checked.re-asked before plunking down $265. One can imagine.
Returned home, booted it up, and screen said that this Mac could not run Aperture, no way, no how. Too old. Obviously irked, I raced back with receipt to return the ill-advised product. THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT.
"You opened it". Manager would not take my word. Stuck by his employee. Finally, finally, finally, when I advised him that he was losing a big-mouthed local customer, he said I could get store credit. I have never returned there again, and told him so. Very inept management.

Excellent service on my Apple IBook G4. Repair and an upgrade. Recommend them to anyone with computer problems. They increased my memory and the price was reasonable.

I've shopped at Springboard on occasion (got an iPod and an FM transmitter) and really didn't interact with the staff much.
But when I needed to learn quickly what I needed for a video editing system, they were terrific. I especially remember Eric and Martin answered all my questions and I eventually purchased two G5 Final Cut Pro systems and gobs of accessories.
They even delivered it all to my work (Jefferson Hospital)

I purchased my first (so far) Apple at Springboard Media and had a very good experience. The folks who work there seem genuinely happy to be there and were really pleasant to be around. I will definitely return to that store!!

Every time I go to the Apple Store I'm disappointed. I'm treated as a number.
Not at springboard. I'm greeted (often by name.) They're prompt, courteous, very customer oriented. I can't imagine taking my business anywhere else.

I submitted my powerbook g4 for repair b/c it was kernal panicking often. At the time I was under AppleCare which covers hardware related damages but not software trouble. Springboard informed me that I had both hardware and software issues. I authorized the repairs under the impression that they would have to fix both to make sure the computer worked properly. When I picked up my machine and was about to pay, I noticed the invoice indicated no hardware repairs. Surprised that no one had brought this to my attention (I wouldn't have authorized a 'software repair' on its own), i inquired as to why I hadn't been informed of this. The answer was that a technician must have changed his/her mind. I was unhappy about the bill and the lack of care with which I & my computer were treated. The unsympathetic staff at no point acted like they were in the business of fixing computers or helping people w/tech problems. They just insisted that I pay (the bill was b/t $100 and $200). When I turned my computer on at home I found that all the problems I'd requested be investigated/repaired were exacerbated.
I then sent my computer in to Apple where within three days my logic board was replaced and my machine returned to me. Turns out I had a malfunctioning RAM slot. The logic board is the functional equivalent of a computer's brain (or at the very least a vital organ). How could this slip by a technician? (or by multiple techs. i had brought my computer in a second time after a 1st diagnosis/ill repair attempt).
I post out of the hope that someone will save themselves the trouble I went through by just sending their computer directly to Apple. Apple's customer service is courteous and to the point.

Springboard is located on the corner of 22nd and Walnut Streets. They were the closest location to my former apartment (2300 Walnut), so I decided to give it a shot. I brought my friend's Apple iBook in for a quick repair (there were issues with the hard drive spinning and making noise), and it was repaired within the week. They did not try to sell me other upgrades or anything... just quick efficient sevice.
I recommend this place, although I have not tried any other computer repair places.
PROS: location, service
CONS: none

Springboard Media is one of the few stores in center city which specializes in apple computers. They have a good selection of the latest models to buy. They also have all the accesories you need. They also have a knowledgeable staff that helps in apple repairs. Very quick and cheap.
