.

what a filthy hole. after getting sick a few times I just gave up. Too bad no one seems to care. virtually no food, forever inconsistent service and quality; make me wonder about the board of health...this place should have been shut down long ago. and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the throughly deadbeat clientele. I was in line once, a cop stopped in, half the crowd left! The place is a menace to the community

Consider this place a nice alternative to your family room.

The corner of 6th & Penn Avenue is the former Salons Department Store. As a result, this lovely turn-of-the century building is a glass house, with all those early 20th century display windows now showcasing the local art gallery hangings, plants from the plant shop, the kid with his guitar, the young couple on a coffee date, the neighborhood freinds just meeting over coffee, the kids talking about their favorite music, and the neighborhood shoppers stopping in for a brew.

There is a flower shop in the back and a high-end pooch emporium too.

Everyone here knows everyone else, and if you are new you will quickly get to know the regulars.

This is a great place to come and lounge and read and chat with your new freind at the table 2 feet away. Enya or John Coltrane could be playing on the CD.

You can come here for coffee with an old freind or new, or perhaps meet your theater freinds for a read-through of a new play, or maybe come with your wife to have a bagel and read the morning paper, or just run in from your local apartment for a cup of coffee.

Great selection of coffee and tea and reasonable to boot. Don't miss the wonderful cressants. Some upscale Italian pastries. A small selection of local sandwiches.

The help is all high school and twenty-somethings, and you quickly get the idea that they are all fast freinds and you meet their extended families and social networks in no time.

And did I mention the people-watching ? Don't forget the people-watching.

This busy spot is an integral part of life in West Reading.
