Body Restoration

In doing a mini-holiday for Columbus Day weekend, my friend and I came to Philly. I made an appointment with for the two of us to receive the Afterglow package. Tina made us feel welcomed immediately. We each had massages, a facial, and a body scrub. We never had the same person twice for each treatment. Each person who worked on me was great. My friend had a little difficulty after sharing with her masseuse that she could be a lot firmer but the pressure remained too light for her taste. She continued to have that issue throughout her experience but all in all we were both happy about our overall experience. I have recommended this place to friends who live in Philly. I wouldn't mind going back there again. And it is relatively inexpensive where three hours worth of work was around $230.

i have used body restoration for bakini waxes. i have many wonderful things to say about them... the blue wax was great (kept things relatively pain free) and i have to say the results last much longer than i have experienced from other waxes. my only concern is that i believe they redipped the tongue depressor with the hot wax back into the vat and reapplied -- doesnt seem totally hygienic to me. i hope that they dont -- because i would love to continue to go back there...

I went to Body Restoration today for my first Brazillian Bikini wax and it was not as bad as thought it would be. I wouldn't say painless, but totally worth it. I had Cara, the owner, and she was quick and meticulous! I would definitely return!

So yeah this was my first time getting the Brazilian wax and I researched it forever before I got up the nerve to actually do. I read that this was the only place in Philly that uses the blue wax which is better that the other kind because it only sticks to the hair and not your skin. Meaning when the wax is pulled off ONLY hair goes with it, not the first layer of your skin as with the other wax. The atmosphere was clean and serene. Soft music played in the background. I went right after work as I only work a few blocks away. I got Jen and she was wonderful. She really made me feel relaxed and comfortable during my first time. She used a new stick each and every time she applied wax (I watched everything closely). She explained everything to me and gave me verbal praise which helped a lot. lol I?m going to request her when I go back. Surprisingly enough it didn't hurt as much as I had anticipated. It actually hurts more when I get my eyebrows done. I'm ecstatic about the results. No more razors for me. In my opinion this is the best of Philly!!

I had a Brazilian done here today. It was great. I made a last minute lunch appointment. I was in an out in 30 minutes, but kinda bummed I didn't have time to really hang out. The space was gorgeous. Very homey relaxing and spacious. Other reviews that say its hard to find are probably not from the city. Its a standard front elevator to the 3rd floor setup. It is less traditional in philly to have spaces on different floors and not street level but by no means strange. The door is clearly labeled as 1611 and 3rd floor Body Restoration as well as the buttons in the elevator.
I had allison do the wax, she was great. She talked to me the whole time, it was not super painful, yeah pulling hair from that region will hurt, but it wasn't terrible and hurt less than the traditional wax. Especially since there was no wax residue all over her gloves. I was also happy with the lack of wax residue that the blue wax left afterward, unlike the strips and hot wax that leaves wax everywhere and sticky. There is no way i could have returned to work after a regular wax. I also liked that the blue wax meant she wasn't reusing a strip that already had been used on me, like some places in the city do. That is a big peeve of mine when they don't use fresh strips. Its just gross.
I will be returning here, and will ask for allison.

I usually don't write reviews but I felt compelled to comment on the facial I received from Alyson at this spa last week (especially since I found out about Body Restoration from this web site.) I have had quite a few facials due to a fun combination of acne and sensitive skin that I've been battling since puberty, and my experiences have definitely ranged from amazing to horrible. But this facial was definitely the best I have ever gotten. Alyson really knows her ingredients, and I felt so relieved that she answered my questions but didn't turn the whole thing into a hard sell, which can really ruin a relaxing experience. Anyway, the extractions were thorough but not too painful, and throughout the rest of the facial I was incredibly relaxed. I loved that she explained what she was going to use and why at the beginning, and then let me relax for the duration of the facial. The only sad thing is that I'm moving out of state in May and won't get to keep coming back for much longer.

I rang up at 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon and was lucky enough to get an appointment for 6 that night. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and answered my questions regarding pricing in a polite manner.

Upon arrival at the salon I was warmly welcomed and offered a range of herbals teas, water and snacks whilst I waited until my appointment (I was 10 minutes early, they were not running late). I was then ushered into a room and received an extremely speedy and relatively painless brazilian wax. I have been getting brazilians for over 2 years now and would have to say that this was definitely one of the best I've had. The wax they used for the brazilian was top of the range, as was the strip was they used on the legs (thicker than usual and definitely more effective).

I would highly recommend this salon and plan to re-visit it regularly during my 3 month stay in Philadelphia.

The massage and facial experiences at Body Restoration are divine! First of all, the atmosphere is so fantastic! Every time I go there, it's like I've stepped out of my crazy life and into this peaceful little oasis. From the soft robes and comfortable slippers to the calm waiting room with water, tea, light snacks, and relaxing music, the ambiance is unbeatable. During massages and facials, I always feel completely taken care of and like I can let go of whatever is stressing me. I only wish that I could afford to go more often. I would love the 20% discount you get from buying 6 massages at once, but I rarely have that large of a lump sum to spend. Note that although waxing is also a great experience, it is much more "no-nonsense" (which is what I want when I am getting waxed). You're in, you get a great, efficient wax, and then you're out. There's not much time to enjoy the sitting area or the ambiance unless you show up early (which I highly recommend doing, especially if you are having a massage; it's nice to have a few minutes to make a cup of tea and unwind before heading to the table). They are always on time with appointments. Some people have mentioned trouble getting an appointment, but I've never had that problem. I can usually get something same week if my schedule is flexible (which it usually is). In particular, my experiences with Cara have been exquisite -- she really knows what she's doing and is happy to explain it all to you if you're interested. She gives a killer hot stone massage. Highly recommended!

I can't say enough wonderful things about the service at Body Restoration thanks mostly to my aesthetician Jenne. I made the plunge and started getting brazilians and Jenne has made it such a comfortable experience every time. She's so personable, clean, and neat. She makes the process as quick as possible and when you're talking about the pain and the compromising positions that come along with a brazilian--quick is the best. Jenne's not only quick, but does the best job. I've had bikini waxes from many different spas and it's so annoying when the wax gets everywhere and attention hasn't been paid to the entire area. I've been so happy with the results and the service that I've been diligent about my monthly appointments--which is the key to maintaining brazilians. Also, the receptionist is always very pleasant. Overall, the spa is clean and cozy and my appointments are always on time. I highly recommend Jenne and the spa.

I decided to go to this Spa after the reviews on this site. I was very pleased with my experience - the receptionist was very welcoming and all smiles. Though getting to the place (it's above American Apparel in the same building) leaves something to be desired, the actual spa itself is quite lovely, calm and well-decorated. Very peaceful colors, I was told they just recently redecorated, new painting, etc.
The technician Jenae (?) was so friendly and put me right at ease. She did a great, impeccable job - the price was right and I plan to return!

I saw Alison at Body Restoration for a brazilian today and I was so impressed! I have had many waxes before, so I have had good and bad experiences. She was very gentle and calm, but also fast ! The time flew by and I seriously only felt like I was in there for 5 minutes....highly recommended! The front desk was also really friendly and welcoming.

I went to Body Restoration last summer and got my first Brazilian Wax from Cara. It was the best wax ever- almost painless, it looked great and it lasted. A splendid job. She was a real professional and she did not make me feel awkward at all, which is quite a feat when you are getting waxed done down there- it requires much humility. Still, Cara was precise and very comforting. When I was back in Philadelphia two days ago I decided to make another appointment. The technician was a sweetheart, but she left hair down there. I noticed it once I got home, and I was so annoyed. I have gotten lots of waxes since my first wax with Cara, and it was so disappointing that the place that got me initially hooked wasn?t as wonderful the second time around. It was almost a waste of money. I love the decor and the kind staff, but I would also like to be totally smooth. That is kind of the point of the Brazilian Wax.

I got THE best Brazilian done at Body Restoration and it was well worth the $70 I paid. If you can, ask for Pam (I think she works mostly on weekends now).

Yesterday I went and got a hot stone massage by the owner Cara. This was the best and most relaxing massage I had in quite some time. Cara focused on all the areas I requested and at the pressure I was comfortable with. I didn't want the session to end. The spa has a very relaxing atmosphere. I have also received all of my bikini waxes from here. They are fast and the blue wax is less painful. I highly recommend this spa.

I researched spas for my first brazilian wax and came upon these reviews. I was a bit nervous on my drive to the spa, as I had time to think- i'm 2 hours away. I did the no scream cream and ibuprofen as recommended by others. Body Restoration is a beautiful, professional and very clean establishment. Pam made me feel comfortable immediately. Face it ladies, there is no way to be modest here- but I am telling you- nothing to be afraid of! The discomfort was minimal, the results are fabulous. I already re- booked for my next time. You won't be sorry!

This was the second time I've been here for a deep tissue massage. I am a web designer who is 5' tall, so my body is constant pain/tension. Both times I had Trilisa. At first glance, she appears in need of a sandwich, so I was afraid she wouldn't be able to do anything. However, that petite woman sure knows how to work it! Trilisa got (almost) all of my knots out! (And I say almost because I have about 50 REALLY bad ones.)

Everyone there was very nice and very professional. They even provide you with a robe,slippers and a locker! It may sound weird, but there a lot of spas in the city that have none of those. The prices are reasonable compared to most other spas. I will definitely come back regularly.

Trust me, I'm in the salon and spa business, and this spa gave me the best waxes I've had in Philly. The wax they use is top of the line. No other spa in the city carries the special "painless" blue wax they use. I've only ever seen it in CA and NY. Each wax I've had was totally bearable and well worth the price! I've been to scarey little waxing caves where you're in a cramped room with a mean woman who's yelling at you to contort into every position in order to get the hair out. I actually got to relax in their tranquil spa lounge drinking tea before my appointment. The service took about 20 minutes and I was hair free. I would recommend it for all waxing - bikini, legs, arms, eye brows. They're great.

got a Brazilian Bikini and it was nice using the blue wax...i guess as painless as it gets with a brazillian...but my tech was not as thorough as my tech at the body klinic. i only left b/c the lady who usually did my brazillian for the past 3 years left so i had to search out a new waxer, otherwise i probably would have never left (plus, they always had a coupon at the body klinic to offset the expensive price of getting a brazillian). anyway, like i said, blue wax was a little less painless than traditional wax, but my tech didn't get all the hair around the more "private" parts down there and i'm used to walking out with literally NO hair left at all...maybe she thought going into this area would be too much of an invasion of privacy, but i would have appreciated a cleaner job. so, all in all, it is a nice change but is it worth it? no, i think i'll pass and find someone else who can do a cleaner and cheaper job. be realistic, you're getting the hair ripped out from a very sensitive area...blue wax or not, it's still ganna hurt! question is, how much more you want to spend?

I walked into Body Restoration on a crazed morning right before I had to catch a flight. As soon as I arrived, the soothing, peaceful atmosphere calmed me down right away. I had booked a brazillian with Pam the day before and was nervous about trying a new place (the place i normally went to was booked.) Having had Braziallans for almost 9 years, I had had some terrbile experiences, but was pleasantly surprised as to what an amazing job she did. It was very painless, and not a hair was left. The entire time she was very friendly and pleasant and I was very happy with the results. The only con is that it was very expensive. Pam explained that because they use the special blue wax, it is more expensive than other places.
I have been to places where they use the special blue wax, and it still doesn't cost $70 for a brazillian. Since I am a student, paying that much for a monthly bikini wax is just impossible. However, for people who can afford it, I would highly highly recommend this place.

I had Cara for my first professional bikini wax. I was SCARED it would be painful. And although not pain free it was definately managable. Cara made me feel relaxed and did a great job. Believe it or not it was a good experience. I am going back next month for a brazilian and I am not at all worried about it. Great place. Nice, clean, comfortable, professional. Definately recommend.

I received a block of six massages for my birthday. It was definitely a gift certificate I planned to use. So far, I've had two massages and they were both great. One massage therapist was stronger than the other, but they were both helpful in their own ways. I'd rather alternate between the two therapists: one of them for the heavier handed massage, and the other for the relaxing type of massage. The only thing is I had to make my appointments 3-4 weeks in advance for a Saturday time slot. If a spa is consistently good then I don't mind waiting to get an appointment. I also like the fact that this place isn't a one-stop shop for hair, nails, etc. They picked a couple of things they're good at (massages and skin care) and stuck with it. I'm already thinking about having a facial or even a brazilian wax when I get up the nerve.

No matter how many people I had asked for recommendations on Brazilian waxes, this place kept being mentioned. It's pricier than the International salon but clean and quick and not that painful as you would think. I've been to two different ladies there and each time was great. I would highly recommend this place.

I usually see Jenae for my waxing and she introduced me to the "wine therapy" the spa just added. I made an appointment for a "vino" facial. The products she used on my skin were all made from grapes with the wine theme in mind. It was more like an anti-oxidant facial. The smells were wonderful and the "zinfandel" exfoliator did wonders for my skin. The facial massage was with an oil blend made with grapeseed oil (of course) and the aromas put me in such a relaxing state of mind. I even took home the scrub for the face and a serum to help with brown spots. You can't go wrong with any of the waxing services either. You have to give this place a try if you haven't already.

I'm not from Philadelphia but was in town visiting and needed a bikini wax. I went here because they use the same type of wax I"m used to. The website was very up to date, the woman on the phone very polite, and the atmosphere was great when I went in. They made me feel very comfortable and the place is clean, comfortable, and relaxing.

But the service I got was a little rough. I went in for a Brazilian wax and she did a good job of getting all the hair out, don't get me wrong. But I am left with (and I get enough waxes I know this is not normal) some dark purple bruises all along my bikini line. Not such a good thing. I would have preferred her going over a spot another time rather than ripping at my skin quite so intensely. I have to go to the beach tomorrow for vacation and am quite embarrassed by my nasty bruises. Ew. But I would give them a try for other services, the place itself seems really nice.

I scheduled a Brazilian wax and then a massage so I could relax afterwards. To my surprise, the Brazilian wax didn't hurt that bad at all. Instead of removing the wax by putting a piece of cloth over it and ripping it off, this spa uses a blue hard wax . The wax dries on the skin and is peeled away. The waxer's name was Jennay and she was so gentle and personable, it was really no sweat at all. I had gotten myself all worked up for nothing. What's even more pleasing was that my massage with Hope was just what I needed. Her strong hands worked out the knots in my lower back making me feel so energized. I've come to realize I need to make my spa services a monthly visit.

First, they saved the day before my wedding by squeezing me in when another spa rudely cancelled at the last minute, so I greatly appreciate that.

Second, it was a great experience. The building is a little shady looking from the outside, but they have it transformed inside. It is a wonderful space, nice and clean. I would prefer real changing rooms, but they are adequate. The rest of the space is great, and they have plenty of teas and water to help you relax. The massage was wonderful, the room very clean, perfect amount of pressure, and very relaxing. A wonderful experience all around.

I recently decided to give the Brazilian a try and after reading the reviews here made an appointment with Jene. I was so impressed with her ability to ease the general discomfort of the situation - and not just the physical discomfort - she was so friendly and talkative she actually kept my mind completely off the fact that she was working in an area that is not open to view by the general population. :-) Not only that, but she was extremely thorough and I am totally pleased with the results. If you are thinking about giving the Brazilian a try I would highly recommend Body Restoration, and specifically Jene, as the place to go.

I just had the new Grape Extract services offered at Body Restoration. I went to Sonoma a few years ago and spend $$$$ for the same experience. My skin looked and felt so great afterward! The grape seed scrub had a little bit of a weird organic smell, but it is so worth it. The facial made my skin feel like a baby's butt! For the record, part of the charm of this spa is the ABSENCE of snotty attitude. It is a very true and real experience with people who like what they are doing and an on site owner and manager. This is evident in the responses made by the owner on the review pages. She clearly is very vested in her business and cares very much about the client experience and impression. You would not get that response from one of the big, snobby Spas that look down at you when you come in. This place feels relaxed and comfy. Highly recommend!

My first LaStone massage was great!! I've had massages before, but this is so much better. My masseur, Justin, used hot stones to massage my whole body and it was so relaxing. The heat from the stones really loosen up your muscles. I don't think I can go back to regular massages after today. This was my first time at Body Restoration and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and comforting and the staff was extremely courteous. The only complaints I had were that the rooms weren't as quiet as I would have liked, and it was a little awkward walking out of the massage room right in the waiting lounge where people were sitting. Overall, I highly recommend and will definitely go back.

I've tried serveral other spas in center city, and Cara at Body Restoration is by far the best this city has. She uses the blue wax, which is less painful and is more efficient in removing hair. She is very thorough and even removes ingrown hair.

I have had many brazilian waxes in my life and I finally can stop looking for a place that does an awsome job. Body Restoration is GREAT!! I love the look and feel of the spa...a mix between modern, elegant and its very relaxing. The wax they use really is great - unless you have been waxed by the usual old stuff you may not appreciate this awsome wax!! Pam was my esthetician and she is such a down to earth person. I really felt very comfortable with her and she did a great job. Can't find one hair that she missed!! Yippie!! I'm ready for the beach!! Thanks & see you in 3 weeks!! :)

I have been waxing for years and I was very happy with the results I received here. They make you feel comfortable and the wax they use is top-notch.. no pain! It may be a bit pricier than the Russian woman around the corner.. but it is totally worth it!

I went to this salon for a bikini wax and left disappointed in the result. Although I experienced no pain and the environment was extremely relaxing, the blue wax only partially removed my hair. In fact, I needed another bikini wax a week later! My suggestion is to get a new wax. The blue wax looks nice, but it doesn't remove hair like I'm use to. I really don't know how this is one of the best waxing salons. If it was in NYC, it wouldn't even make the top 30 for waxing. Ciysearch, please send people who know how to be critics. Thank you.

We finally got around to using a gift certificate for a Couples Massage. What a great idea! The massages took place in the same room and the massage beds were side by side. The lights were dimmed and we could smell the scented oils and hear the classical music that was playing. My husband wasn't sure if he'd be into it since he'd never had a massage. But after the massages, we were both so relaxed. Each of us felt like all of our kinks were rubbed out. How cozy is that?!

Okay...So I have been terrified to get a brazillian wax for a really long time. Today I learned there was no reason to be. I had a great experience at Body restoration. I have lived in philly my whole life and walked up and down walnut street more times than I could possibly count and had no idea this wonderful spa existed. Everyone on staff was so nice and the women who waxed me was extremely comforting. I assumed the experience was going to be extremely painful but due to the use of blue wax( a softer wax made for people with sensitive skin that requires no paper strips) it was almost painless. I am not saying it wasn't uncomfortable at all but I will definitley be going back. I also plan to try several other services there.

I have been going to Body Restoration since it was a one-man show. The massages are great - you can get exactly what suits you. I have never had such a great, relaxing massage anywhere else. I have also had facials and waxing done there, and there were top notch. The interior is beautiful and inviting. Try it, you will definitely be happy with this spa!!!!

Pros: Everything is great there. The owner and staff are very oriented to customer satisfaction.

Cons: None.

This is a true hidden gem in Philly for a brazilian wax. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Cara and Jen are very helpful and do a great job. They use "blue wax" which is much less painful. It's tough to find parking in the area so be sure to give yourself plenty of time- or they will charge you for a missed appointment.

Pros: Very thorough- good prices

Cons: Small spa without any frills

I went in for leg/bikini waxing, and did not feel like I was welcome at all. I felt that the lady doing the waxing didn't even want me there, and that I was bothering them. The weird boy behind the counter made me feel the same way. He was on the phone while I was leaving (I was just trying to pay my bill), and he never got off of it, as well as making me wait while he was talking, and making it clear with body language that I was being a pain by standing there. I wasn't offered anything nice like anything to drink, although I was herded quickly past some water bottles and robes that I noticed while being shuffled to my room. The lady never showed me any of it even though she knew it was my first time there.
I am not the type to say anything while in the circumstance, and do not like confrontation, as well as not thinking it is worth it much of the time to get into it, as I felt as though the people that worked there would just think badly of me for saying anything. After thinking about it, though, I felt the need to let other people know how I felt, and no, I would not recommend a friend go there. There are better places to go.

Cara is fabulous, she made me feel totally at ease. She did the job quickly and thoroughly and with as little pain as possible. I will never go anywhere else for a brazilian. You're in good hands here!

I went here the first time for a body wrap. The spa has a great atmosphere, I immediately felt relaxed. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Pam did my wrap, she is so sweet and didn't make me feel uncomfortable in any way. Overall it was a wonderful spa experience

I made an appointment for a deep bikini wax after reading the great reviews on here. I came on time and sat for only a few moments before the waxer came to greet me. She did not introduce herself by name, nor shake my hand. She showed me to a small waxing room right off the small entry waiting room. She used the blue wax, which was pretty painless as far as bikini waxes go, but I felt so awkward the entire time. The woman barely made eye contact and did not try to lighten the mood as we waited awkwardly for the wax to dry (you don't need strips with the blue wax, it dries/hardens and then peels off). It was only when I used the ladies room that I glimpsed the plush couches, robes and sandals that other patrons got to enjoy. I felt like a second class citizen and the place wasn't even crowded! Overall, I'd go back because the waxing itself, although awkward, was efficient and the woman (whoever she was) did a decent job, but from my experience the place felt no better than getting waxed at a nail salon.

I have been seeing Cara for over 2 years for deep tissue massage. I have been to several spa's in the area and nobody was able to relieve my tension and back pain until I met Cara via a friends referral. Cara is very professional always asks me if there is any area that I need her to focus on. She has a wonderful quiet presence and AMAZINGLY strong hands. If deep tissue is too much for you the LA Stone Therapy is a wonderful soothing treat! I even took my mom to see Cara when she came to visit me. My mom hadn't had a real massage in over 20 years and was put at ease and comfortable in the spa right away. I haven't tried any of the waxing yet- but I know that when I finally get the guts to go for my first Brazilian I wouldn't dream of having anyone do it but Cara and/or her talented staff.

Pros: highly skilled professionals, easy location to get to by public transport, and a great atmosphere

Excuse the cheesy pun but Pamela was AWESOME! I've had Brazillians in the past but decided to go for the "deep bikini" this time around. This is about as painless as waxing down there is going to get. Pamela introduced herself, then brought me to the back seating area with soothing music and plush couches. She then led me into the waxing room (which was a pretty, standard issue spa room) and let me undress and get comfortable. She came back in and got to work and we talked through the whole experience. She was very easy to talk to (even in compromising positions) and when I left the spa I realize that I actually just had FUN getting a bikini wax. I highly, highly recommend Body Restoration, especially for the waxing. I've already made my next appointment with Pam and next time I'm going for the full Monty.

I've tried a few places in Philly, as well as quite a few in New York City, and I have to say this is among the best waxing services I've encountered thus far. Cara, the owner, is incredibly meticulous in attaining the cleanest Brazilian that you can get. Furthermore, the wax is as pain free as it can get (and I don't have a high tolerance for pain). I don't usually write reviews, but I was just so impressed by the service and the results of the wax that I thought that people in the area should know about this place. I've already recommended it to my friends.
