In town for the annual Quilter's Heritage Celebration Spent every spare minute hitting the local fabric shops and exploring the Amish culture. It was a thrill to ride in an Amish buggy and watch the world go by. Horse was gorgeous and the driver was friendly even though we peppered him with question after question about the area.

Our guide was Erv. We chose the 45 minute ride. Erv was extremely friendly and courteous. He was very informative and knowledgeable about the Amish having grown up Amish and at the age of 15 became Mennonite. He told us the history of the Amish, about their culture and religion, also about how they are living in an ever changing modernized world. He told about some of their traditions and answered many of our questions we had. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wishing to truly experience the Amish culture and learn more about them as a people. At the end he even offered to use our camera to take a picture of us with the buggy.

PROS: Breath-taking scenery
CONS: a little difficult to use video equipment b/c the ride is a little bumpy

This was exciting and most interesting. We took about a 20 minute ride thru the Amish country of Lancaster, Pa. Stopping at an actual amish farm and was given the chance to buy baked goodies, It was interesting as the friver told us about AMish customs

While vacationing in Lancaster we took a buggy ride. We had a young Amish boy as our buggy driver. It was nice to listen to him talk about Amish life first hand. The buggy took us through the Amish farmlands. We stopped at an Amish home and they came up to the buggy selling home-made cookies. My son said they were the best chocolate chip cookies he ever had. It is a great way to see the Amish area up close and personal. I would highly recommend taking a buggy ride while vacationing in the Lancaster area.
