Up until a couple of weeks ago the Beehive was my favorite coffee shop. I have been a frequent customer for nearly 10 years. But, I think tonight is the last night I will be going.
About ten minutes after the four of us bought our drinks

I love this place! Very cool atmosphere, friendly people, awesome selection of food (vegan to meat-lovers). Coffee is freshly ground & french-pressed :)

Definitely will go back!

Pros: good coffee, free wifi

Cons: needs more comfy couches

Even though you might be thinking coffee, this is a great place to play the random 80s games that they have around the shop and enjoy some of their great desserts. Perfect for a low key evening or for studying

The Beehive is an experience from another realm. The decor is wild, some of it is retro, some modern, and all of it mismatched and whimsical. The staff are unconventional, and friendly. The clientele ranges from high school students to dotcom geek types who are there to play DDO. The coffee menu rivals that of Starbucks, but with a much more soulful feel. Due to governmental regulations, they no longer allow smoking, however the great atmosphere, and free wifi, more than make up for the nonsmokng policy. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for an interesting place to hang out without spending much money. It's an idea place for a date, a study group, or for meeting strangers off the internet. Parking is problematic, but with a little persistence, it's doable.

Pros: Cheap & delicious coffee, vivid atmosphere

Cons: Non smoking, difficulty finding parking

The Beehive is great--it's across the street from the devil itself--Starbucks, and hosts the hipsters and like-minded folks who prefer an equally high-quality, but less sell-out coffeehouse. Beanbags, a pool table and a bizarre roundabout "intima-booth", as I call it, complete the connected hangout room in the unit next door.

Check it out if you're ever on the South Side near East Carson St.

The Beehive feels like it belongs in some cyberpunk novel - the decour is irregular and wild (dentist and swing chairs sit among various "normal" ones and nothing matches), there's a variety of paintings on the walls, and various types of people meet up there. The food's good (not great, but pleasant), the tea selection is one of the best in town, and the employees don't look or act like corporate drones. It is a bit difficult to get there and back, especially late at night -- bus service along Carson is pretty good but access to other parts of the city is poor, and parking is very tricky. All lthings considered, the Beehive is my favourite coffeeshop in the city.

Pros: Unique atmosphere, free wireless, internet terminals, non-corporate vibe

Cons: Difficult to find nearby parking, possibly difficult to reach by bus

Nice place to hang out by yourself or with friends. Wireless internet allows you to bring your laptop to work on. Can be quite busy on fri and sat nights. Mixed crowd of ages, but mostly younger.

The Beehive, located on Carson Street in the historic South Side, is a Pittsburgh gem. Containing many types of coffees and teas, as well as one of the friendliest staffs in the city, the Beehive is a great place to grab drinks or snacks and enjoy a unique atmosphere. Hand-painted and -crafted art provide plenty of conversation starters, and wi-fi and smoke-free areas make this place unbeatable!

The Beehive offers everything from places to quietly read and study to places to meet new and old friends. And the best darn coffee in the Ohio Valley.
