Sun Hill Kennels

In response to a review I saw, I do not think the owners are not friendly. I have always had good casual conversation with them and they have always thanked me for my business.

As far as being hard to find, I am from the area, but did not know about this place until I found it online. It is out in the country but basically around the block after getting off Rt. 283 from either Rt. 772 or Esbenshade Rd. Take your pick.

I have always found the place to be clean and my dog is always happy to go into the office. She is a pretty good judge of strangers and I have never had a problem with her when leaving. It is a good no non-sense kennel with a few extras like the pool.

My lab absolutely loves going to Sun Hill Kennels to swim. You can just call ahead to reserve a time at the pool, and then at your appointment, you and your dog have the whole time to swim in the pool (which has steps at either end so its easy for dogs to get in and out) and play in the fenced in field. It makes for a lovely, fun trip with your dog. My dog never gets tired, but after a good swim, he'll be worn out!!

My dogs are part of the family and we only trust Sun Hill kennels when we go on vacation. They know my dogs by name and they catter to them. My dogs see the saff and they run to them as if they were part of our family. That's how I know they are not abusive to my animals. I wouldnt trust anyone else with their care.
For the person that complaint earlier you had an appointment, you had a set time, they loose money if you don show up on time. That pool is booked during the summer. It is not fair for them to loose money for your irresponsibity. Your own fault.

I have to disagree with the person who unfortunately had a bad experience. We have used Sun Hill on several occasions after the referral from a friend, who has used it for over 5 years. The staff is friendly and attentive to the animals. Upon our dog's second trip, she was remembered and called to by name BEFORE being told who had arrived. While checking in and out each time, I as well, had wonderful conversations with the staff, proving that they are indeed attentive to the human species as well.

Perhaps, true of all things in life, you get out what you put in...

We've been using Sun Hill for five years or so and have always been happy. I agree that the owners seem abrupt sometimes, but they are actually very nice and seem to love their work. Our dog always returns to us looking good and content, and he responds happily to the staff when we first arrive, which I take as a positive sign. I also recommend the exercise program, which is optional but inexpensive. The facility is not fancy, but the kennels are spacious and there is plenty of room to exercise, and you can also opt for grooming.

Kennels looked clean and dogs looked happy. Not very big.
Very hard to find. Directions were not easy and I would suggest if you are not familiar with that area to do a dry run a head.

They have a lovely pool you can take your dog to for a half hour at a time. Looks well maintained. But BE SURE TO BE ON TIME for your pool RESERVATION!! When we made the reservation we were never told that if we were late they would cut our session in half. We were fifteen minutes late and they still expected us to pay the full amount to have the dog swim for only 15 minutes. They would not do a reduced rate and was not willing to reschedule for that day. They do not tell you this over the phone. We did not feel the owner or staff were that pleasant. But the pool looks well taken care of. But bring your patience as it is not easy to find and the staff and owner are not friendly!
