Inexpensive and efficient. Manicure + pedicure is only $25, and there are a number of stations so as long you avoid prime rush hour, the wait should be either non-existent or very short. Waxing is also inexpensive. They did a fine job on my eyebrows, but it was just a clean vs. a shape, so I would recommend going elsewhere for the initial shaping.

I agree with the other reviewer that it is difficult to find a good nail salon. All of them are great when they first open: spending oodles of time on the massage portion of the pedicure, etc. But when they pick up and get busy, they speed through each customer in 10 minutes or less. It seems that these salons stay clean for the first six months and then become dingy. However, 'City Nails on Square' seems to be doing a better job of staying clean. The salon is open and spacious and the place is souped up with gigantic flat screen tvs everywhere. Not that this makes much of a difference when referring to attention to detail. I 've had great pedicures here and I've sloppy pedicures here. It depends on who you get and whether there are people waiting. One thing that has kept me coming back: I haven't had a foot fungus or any problems stemming from the pedicure service.

Why is so hard to find a good nail place in Philadelphia? If you want to waste your money and risk infection go to this establishment... where they use outdated procedures (without even asking first) like callous shavers. It isn't apparent that the utensils are adequately disinfected between clients and given the fast turnaround time, I'm almost positive their pedicure tubs aren't sterilized either. It's a shame, because the location is good and the service area is large and comfortable... but they should be turning out a much better service. I gave it 3 tries before writing this review, but I've come to the conclusion that's it's just in the business of fast turnaround without any regard for safety or good service.

Honestly, the Gestapo at the front door who just stands and points is not the least bit friendly. They ALWAYS rush through mani and pedi's. I had a pedi there not to long ago and I recorded the time they spent giving me the pedi - 7 mins and I was done! WHAT? The mani was about 10 mins - who wants to spend $30 plus tip for 17 minutes. There are other city nails in the city that do a much better job - for the money that is.

Pros: location, clean facility

Cons: Gestapo at front door, rush through the work, also don't honor appointments

City Nails is a good place for inexpensive manis and pedis. You can get a manicure and a pedicure for $25 and they do a good job. No appointment is necessary and the wait time is usually minimal.
