Obviously the management at this Sapporos are out of touch with reality. First of all this restaurant is in the middle of a dirty cheap run down hotel, the Pittsburg motel. So make sure if you go here to keep an eye out for the shady

sapporo has been a family favorite for years. everytime we go we know we're going to have a good time and meal. the waitstaff is good for the most part very frindly make you feel welcome. the portions are bigger than the other hibachi places i been to, with that said the prices are fair. so if your looking for something new to try, and a good enviroment for kids, family, parties, or romantic dates what beats seeing the chef put on a show(fire, tricks) all while cooking a great meal... also full bar and sushi

Wow, my husband and I love this place! We go there every Valentine's Day, anniversary, and any chance we get. We love it so much, my husband proposed to me there! The staff is AWESOME. Keep in mind, this is not a chain! This is a mom and pop GEM. They only have one sushi chef I think, but it doesn't matter. This is AUTHENTIC and, again, not a chain, so it's such a family atmosphere. We will NOT go to chains that compete and are happy to give our business to the friendly family that runs it.

Wait staff is poor but understandable due to the lack of workers and staff. on a busy night (even with reservations!) we waited about 45 minutes but the food was excellent and the chef was very friendly and personable and the onion volcano and egg trick was a hit! The menu prices aren't that bad and you get more than you would at ichiban that's for sure!! shrimp sauce is yum yum as usual and the chicken broccoli is phenomenal!! Definitely add a fried rice to the meal its an extra 3 dollars or so but its worth it definitely. Overall the experience was fun for the kids and everything was enjoyable. Definitely recommendable.

Pros: good food, friendly staff, prices arent bad, nice portions, shrimp sauce!

Cons: slow waitresses and chefs, not enough staff members, no sushi :(, bad location...in a middle of the pittsburgh motel parking lot!

about 6 months ago came in sat down ordered alcoholic drinks ands then asked for sushi menu and the waitresses told us that their sushi chef is sick. so great we come to a hibachi place that has a sushi bar sign lit and in every advertisement and their website says they have sushi. chefs food wasnt too bad but the service sucked. coming here just expect the staff to be rude and lazy.
we went a few weeks ago and the same thing. sushi light is on and theres no sushi. the ad i got from the paper advertises sushi and the waitress told us sorry we dont have the stuff to make sushi. then our chef comes out and he tells us as long as he worked their that they have never had sushi ever. this place is a joke

First off.. there are plently of other Japanese steakhouses out there. Many of them very traditional, upbeat, and even modern. Which I have to admit I love. However, Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse has been around for more than 10 years and is still providing customers with great quality foods. I have traveled to many great cities and the first place I want to check out are the Japanese steakhouses. Overall, Sapporo has many delicious dishes, many with special sauces that other steakhouses do not have ( I've checked) Also everything is fresh and made to order. Other places I noticed that their fried rice is already cook and simply just re-heated on the grill for *show*. Not here, they have their steamed rice untouch and prepared completely in front of you from scratch. No wonder people rave about their fried rice! I ordered the famous "chicken broccoli" which is cooked in this "special" sauce I was talking about. It is something that I now crave. If you truly love food then you will appreciate their freshness. Sure the other steakhouses in PA look nice, but from my own personal experience, their food does not compare. It has been a wonderful experience and I plan on returning along with many friends and family.

Pros: FOOD, FOOD, FRIED RICE

Cons: More ambience (in the process of reconstruction!)

I have been an avid customer here at Sapporo for years and continue to enjoy my visit every time. I have taken my family and friends here to celebrate on many occasions, which the kids love. You truly feel the family warmth when dining here. I have also had lunch here due to the fact that I just can't get enough. The prices are great at lunch time as well. Just think for the price of a burger and fries, you can get combos of chicken/scallops or shrimp/scallops with rice, and a soup or salad. It definitely fills you. They are actually renovating certain parts of the restaurant which looks great.

Keep up the good work Sapporo!

After debating with the family on where to get some dinner, we finally decided on Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse. We have tried several Japanese restaurants around the area and found this restaurant to be the best.
Yes we have tried Nakama and felt that the ambience was nice however, the service was terrible. We felt rushed and the quality of the food was cheap.
Sapporo by far has the family feel to it. It was nice to be greeted and the family definitely enjoyed the dinner experience. The chef was entertaining and the server was attentive. My family and I will be returning. Great time!

PROS: Family oriented, cozy, price is fair, entertaining
CONS:

This place is a typical Japanese restaurant, they cook the food right at your table. Nothing new and inventive, but still a good place to try. Located in Crafton on Steubenville Pike, in the parking lot of the Pittsburgh Motel (yes, really!).
The food is pretty good, pricing comparable to other Japanese restaurants, but you can usually find them in the Entertainment Book (buy one, get one free). Although I typically go more than just using the Entertainment book, but for a party of four, you could probably end up shelling out about $100. The portions are generous, with dinner you usually get the salad, soup, dinner and a desert. Nice combo's of steak, chicken or seafood. The service is always pretty good, the cooks always entertaining! Don't forget to make a reservation (not always needed) for the weekend nights, the tables always fill up pretty fast!
