OMG!!! The flavors reminded me of a little place back in Italy... the only difference was I didn't have to spend thousands to go to that little place. It was cozy, and the wait staff were made us feel comfortable and like recently reunited family. I ordered Saltimbocca alla Romana -- all I can say is MMMMMmmmm soooo wonderful! My date ordered and inhailed Pollo ai Carciofi. I highly recommend going to Pesto.

Phenomenal food. It matches the best Italian restaurant in Italy....nothing more to say. This is the best Italian restaurant I've been to in North America.

I reserved their private room for my 21st birthday. It was so great to have the room all to ourselves and know no one else was waiting for our tables and to have the privacy. In addition, we had our own bathroom and place to put our coats. I brought a few bottles of wine and there was no corking/re-corking fee. The food was amazing!! Everyone in my group of 17 people loved their dishes. Our waiters even catered to the requests of my friends who wanted shot glasses for the vodka they had brought because they wanted to do shots for my birthday. I brought my own cake. They brought it out with candles, and then took it back to cut it into pieces and bring it out to everyone. However, be aware of an appetizer sharing fee. Overall, perfect experience!!! Would highly recommend to anyone for large groups and/or special occasions.

Philly has more FAKE Italian restaurants than any other major city in States. Sorry folks, but Italian cuisine is more than a last name ending in a vowel or sprinkling balsamic vinaigrette on a plate ....Then we accidentally come across Pesto and found the real flavours of the Italian cuisine. Wonder why, the chef (and owner) came out of the kitchen to meet us.... we discovered he taught in a culinary school for 12 years and - wonder why - is Italian 100%. (finally somebody to talk to in Italian! ). This place is simply fantastic, a real oasis if you want to have real food. Inside it's simple and clean. The service is good, but, most importantly, you 'll find Italian food.

We went to Pesto before a show last Friday. The service was very good and attentive and the eggplant appetizer we ordered was very good. Entrees were far from amazing though. I ordered the special "veal chop with porcini mushroom sauce". The chop had very little meat on it and while it looked big the volume was spinach and not actual meat. The porcini's were actually canned mushrooms which was very disappointing as I do not even use those at home. I was okay with this until I found out this dish was 35 dollars, almost half of our whole bill.
Everything else was good and we were happy with the meal overall. I guess my suggestion would be to stick to the menu so you know what you are paying for and avoid the mushrooms!

We have been going to Pesto for several years now and just love it. Everything about this restaurant is fanstastic -- the food, the service, the owners. I have never had a bad dish there, and the owners make you feel like one of the family!

This small restaurant has great Italian dishes. We went in with a large family celebration and the service was excellent. Family style appetizers available. The owner is very accommodating. The atmosphere is very nice. Wait staff very attentive.

I enjoyed this restaurant. I had a large party of 10 and we had the back room which was private and that was great. The downside was that they charge $5 for sharing entrees. Usually I like to share a bunch of appetizers and entrees when I'm with a big group, but because of the sharing fee, we didn't get to try that much appetizers. I loved the calamari there though. Entrees were smaller than I expected but it was great.

I stopped in to grab a bite with my wife and another couple before an event downtown. The atmosphere was the first thing that let me know this would be a good experience. It was elegent, not too over done, and made you feel comfortable. The service was perfect - the waiter didn't spend time at the table unless there was a need. Finally, the food was excellent. I had a veal dish that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The others in our group were equally happy with the atmosphere, service and food.

If you are on Broad and thinking about Italian food, you have to give this place a try.

My favorite restaurant! Very attentive and accomadating wait staff. Beautiful atmosphere. Food is fresh and brought to table hot. Every dish was superb. This time of the year presented several pumpkin dishes which were excellent, especially, the pumpkin gnocchi and pumpkin gelato for dessert. I can't say enough. I want to go back every day and try everything.

Just moved into the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try based on the reviews here. What a great experience. The service is amazing. They truly make you feel like youre being served by a family member. The owners young daughter, who is 9 years old, and works as a servers assistant, is better then most waiters at any given restaurant, and works harder. She made sure our water was full, bussed our table when we were done with a dish. The ran down the dessert menu and took our order. Recommended her Dads home made Gelati, which was heavenly. She even and made our cappuccinos, which was one of the best cappuccinos Ive ever tasted. The owners wife came by our table and chatted with us for a bit and made sure we were happy.

The food was great too. The special list was almost overwhelming. There were so many I cant believe the waiter remembered them all. By the time he was done going through them I was dizzy trying to remember each one and decide what I wanted. They should really print up a daily special sheet to accompany the menu, there were so many. Each one sounded great. I had a NY Strip stuffed with crabmeat covered in mushrooms and onion and cheese finished in a mushroom demi-glaze. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered off the regular menu, a pasta dish with clams, mussels and shrimp in a red sauce. It was also excellent and the shellfish was really fresh and delicious. Plenty of parking nearby or right in the middle of Broad street!

We will definitely be going back and bringing friends and family with us. Highly Recommended.

We came on a busy Saturday night. But you wouldn't know it from the staff. We waited for a friend about 20 minutes and nobody rushed us. On the contrary. The service was excellent, with immediate response to any sign/request. The food was good to excellent. As this is BYOB, we emptied 5 bottles of wine without breaking the bank. Recommended.

I recently moved to Philly from New York and yearned for some good, Italian food like grandma used to make. Well...Pesto is a dream come true! I go there there at least once or twice a week and if I can get away from work for more than a hour, I try to go there for lunch too. Everyone is soo friendly and the food is phenomenal!! It is like eating over a family member's house. The staff makes you feel like home and you can tell that they work in perfect harmony. (I found it funny that the busboy was the waiter's cousin, the hostess was the busboy's mother...the chefs were the owners and brother-in-laws. The two waiters grew up down the street from each other.) Everyone was literally family and they welcome everyone into their "Pesto family."

I recently had dinner at Pesto and found it be a disappointment. The food was fair (at best) and the service was unattentive. I ordered one of the specials of the evening, which was Dover Sole ($27.00) and my boyfriend ordered the Veal Piccata ($15.00);
the entrees arrived alone; no veggies or anything, and the food was not impressive to stand on its own. They tried to compenate us with cappucinos and cheesecake (which we did not want...although we gave into the cappucinos which arrived at our table uninvited...they were pretty good cappucinos, I must say). I really wanted this restaurant to be good and it was not; therefore, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are better experiences in Philadelphia, please try somewhere else.

Needed a top notch meal to thank my cousins for show tickets to the Walnut and Pesto was the answer. We feasted on sumptuous appetizers, diverse main courses and decadent desserts; sharing our four portions family style. Try the sole, filleted table side. It was my favorite even though I rarely order fish. Save room for dessert. You won't be able to resist the chocolate volcano. The wait staff is plentiful and there is a special server just to announce the longest appetizer list I've ever heard. We felt compelled to order one for each of us after his performance and we were glad we did. They were delicious.

Pesto's came highly recommened. We were very pleased with the food and service that we received. From the minute we walked in the door we were made to feel like one of the family. The hostess greeted us with all smiles. The service was more than could be expected. The server made sure that all of our needs were met throughout our meal. The one thing that really impressed us is when the chef came out to see how our meal was. We will definately be eating at Pesto's in the future and we will also recommend this establishment to all of our friends.

We were referred to Pesto's by a very good friend and were told that we would not be disappointed. Well, they were right. We have never been to a restuarant that made you feel like a member of the family. Upon walking in the door we were greeted with smiles and laughter. The hostess checked on us throughout our meal to make sure that we were happy with our meal and service. The cook also came out to make sure that we were satisfied. We were not the only ones they were doing this to...we noticed that they did this with all of the patrons. The food was as good as mama's. I have told several friends about Pesto's. Some have already tried Pesto's and said that we were not wrong about how good the place is. I look forward to returning for another wonderful meal.

I have been to Ristorante Pesto a countless number of times, and each time is better than the last. The menu offers so many choices and there are so many specials each night. The entire meal is always delicious, from appetizers, entrees, coffee, and desserts. The service is unbeatable. The hostesses are so sweet and charming with every single customer and you definitely feel like you're at home in this restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic, affordable Italian meal in a warm, inviting, and cozy atmostphere.

the hostess was belligerent and offensive; she accused the table of not being Italian and not knowing what Italian food tasted like; she interrupted conversations at the table when she was lecturing the table on how wonderful her restaurant was.

only go to this restaurant if you are looking to get lectured and treated like a child.

After wanting to stop here many times we finally did last night. The carrots and potatoes platter to greet you is a nice touch....I had the Gnocchi Pesto and was very pleased. We only saw one waiter and busboy due to being understaffed for the night but these two were amazing. They were better than most fully staffed restaurants....will definitely visit again.
